Hitman Go announced (turn based strategy, first image, Square Enix Montreal)

- Still making a new console game
- Neat art style
- Novel idea that suits touch controls well

This is how you do mobile.

I agree, except that none of the games seems to be on handhelds! >:(
I wonder if this will end getting undeserved hate since the announcement like Silent Hill Book of Memories, because you know a spinoff on another console is a disgrace, while bad main episodes and collection on home consoles are not.

After the shit Square-Enix pulled with that Lara Croft trading card game for iOS, I somehow expected this to be an exotic mix of Hitman and the board game Go.

I leave this thread disappointed.

Like the style. Sounds fun.
Now lets not ruin a good thing with all the new finagled mobile legacy like IAP and social sharing Square.

But who am I kidding! This is going to be IAP city.

If this is what AAA traditional gaming studios are going to do with iOS and their properties, I'm fucking in.gif. This is a great idea, and any dissent in this thread is misplaced. XCOM has proven the validity of iOS as a platform for turn-based strategy games (and likely RTS, as well, given some of the novel attempts). The touch interface is perfect for these kinds of games, and the turn-based format was born for mobile. I'll take this kind of thing over Deus Ex: The Fall any day.

If only it was portrait mode, it'd be (theoretical) perfection.

Depending on execution I can totally see this working. It's a far better direction for a mobile hitman game than trying to replicate a AAA console experience.

This seems pretty cool as a side game.

I wanted them to release a full version of Hitman Sniper Challenges. Would have become one of my most-played games of all time.

Sounds like a pretty cool idea, think I might give this a chance. A RTS could have been a more interesting idea, but I guess it would have been pretty hard to develop.

Can't say I hate the idea, if done properly.
I will hate it fiercely if it's going to be a dumbed down "my-first-tactical" for tablets, on the other hand (which is what I'm actually expecting).

I'm down for this...give it a whirl and see how goes. Sounds pretty rad.

*sees all of the "WTF" responses*

Really, folks...? Dismissive much?

Yea this looks really awesome, visually. I hope it will be a bit more complex than that image shows, but I'm sure it's early in the reveal.

A strategy Hitman game could be really awesome.

Is this the same mobile Hitman project IO was working on prior to the internal reshuffling this past summer? Apparently that was at beta.

It looks like something that could be decent, but it's gonna be riddled with microtransactions, isn't it?

Yes it will, and it won't be anything those people that are thinking positive are waiting, i'm certain of it.

Well, at least i hope the next proper hitman game be good.

Hitman. Turn based strategy.

Wh....what?

What? What? WHAT?

This could be really good if they manage to mix in some light humor and also keep it cerebral but open enough that it allows a casual approach to tactical decision making.

The sterile visual style is a great compliment to the theme too.

They should bring this as an advanced version to the PS4. I'm not even kidding, this would be awesome as a downloadable.

He got perma'd recently. I think the mods had enough of his constant negativity and shitting on game threads that espoused positivity.

On topic, I enjoyed both MG Acid games tremendously, I'll have to keep an open mind on this release.

it KILLS me that those games aren't available on PSN. they were probably my favorite psp games and I'm not going to buy another PSP just to play them when I have a perfectly good Vita
