Kotaku is actually worse than a lot of the banned sites.

The issue is that Kotaku is occasionally right. They've "broken" a few stories that have been true. So it's kind of hard to ban them. They're a necessary evil.

Around the time MGS4:Indignance is announced, I guess.

Yeah, that's actually how I see it happening. MGS4 on PS3 only until MGS4: Special rerelease happens a year to 18 months later (like Subsistence).

But the constant rumor mongering is kind of in poor taste, don't you agree? :p

Whoo! Can't wait till September!

Wow, you technically would own something that doesn't exist.

Why are so many so sure MGS wont come to the 360? There have been games once labeled "exclusive" that have made the jump while the publisher and everyone denied it.

I should note that Kotaku are mostly reporting correct news on this subject.
HMV is the only one reporting majorly questionable news. So no, do not ban Kotaku; ban HMV news. It's not like they're relevant, it's not like they held the official 360, DS and PS3 launch parties.

The news source is actually CVG, the website of the oldest print games publication is existence.
The site also has a pristine reputation and has never found itself posting breaking accurate news on a Sunday that isn't something simply reported by a forum poster.

And has posted the Rare being bought by Microsoft news before the entire Internet.

Uh, did you miss the picture above where that dude showed his pre-order from HMV? (Thus confirming this news...)

I like this fascination that GAF has had over the past few months where we conspire to ban/censor websites. It just seems so angry-mob inspired.. like something out of the Simpsons.

"BAN HMV! NO MORE HMV NEWS FOR US!!"

What a joke.

I was being sarcastic. HMV is a huge retailer, they don't do news.

I am also opposed to the banning of sites especially when they're reporting correct news that happens to disagree with the rabid fanboys here.

But thanks to that Groupthink thread, we'll no longer see anymore of that. Oh, wait....

The site/word ban around here is ridiculous.

Are you insane? Obviously the product exists on HMV. Ghost Leviathan here is trying to correlate this story which C&VG were notified of by a forum user, with their high caliber journalism... SEE AND VEE GEE. Like it's adding to the validity of the story or something. Head-asplode dot gif.

Please STOP preordering games. It's just stupid.

Hell, _I'll_ take your preorder for MGS 5, Halo 4, and Madden 2010.

I prefer just banning assclowns who post the same topic that has been closed numerous other times in the same day on a topic that is already dealt with.

The story is that HMV are taking pre-orders for the game, that is confirmed, the story is true.

That's a smart way to make other people lend you money.

Without interest.

People still pre-order months ahead of time ?

I have a pre-order for Duke Nukem Forever from 2000, we all know how that ended up.

Hey, prices have gone up in the last 7 years. By the time it comes out in 2015 you'll probably be paying the equivalent of 1/3 the price.

If you pre-order on HMV.co.uk you don't pay until it's posted. I wouldn't be preordering items I'll probably never get if I had to pay upfront.

Honestly, I preordered because if it does come on 360, I want to still be able to use my student discount to get it for £35 instead of the £50 it'll retail for.

I was hoping that gif would have a delightful filename. Tinyurl, destroying subtle treasures which make our internet tick, one URL at a time. ;_;

You really don't seem to be getting what I'm saying, but hey it doesn't matter because I'm not saying the entry on HMV doesn't exist. Why would anybody be saying that?

Kotaku is a joke. They take quotes out of context, they spread stupid rumors without links or sources with a "trust us" bullshit attitude, they do practically everything to get hits. Just because out of the myriads of crap stories they happen to be right a couple of times doesn't mean we should endure their bullshit every day.

I don't see why Kotaku is getting so much crap in this thread. All they did is report that HMV is accepting 360 MGS4 orders, which they in fact are.

Hmm

On one hand it seems ridiculous, but it's always retal outlets that seem to leak games (Blockbuster with Ace Combat 6 and Katamari, EB with many games like Saint's Row on PS3).

What are you saying then? That the news reported is correct but the news that isn't reported is incorrect?
WOW! What a revelation!

But the news they reported here is correct, you guys wanna talk shit about them when they're correct; your opinion on them when they're incorrect is now discredited.

British online retailers aren't exactly up there with breaking news on Japanese games though. You know, typically.

I wonder how long it will be until every piece of news reported on gaf comes to resemble "Breaking News from *********". Lets keep some sites from banishment, they only report what they hear after all. Sometimes it is viable, more often that not its rumour/fud. But if news sites only stuck to cold, hard fact then we'd have very little to discuss really.

I once placed an order on HMV for the entire DVD boxset of DS9 for £19. However it was a mis-price and my order was cancelled. Would have been deal of the century!

Unless you're living under the rock,Kotaku always been making news of MGS4 going to 360 since 2004.

Next big story on kotaku:

"Amazon takes Alan Wake preorders.

Is this a final confirmation of Alan Wake's rumored multiplatform status? Amazon's inside sources probably know better.

Disclaimer: We only report the facts. If the rumor turns out to be bullshit it's amazon's fault."

It did but since TinyPic is the devil here's an awesome optical illusion as my condolences!

Can't a person find it deeply hilarious when someone says Oh C&VG says it, it must be true! There's a distinction between an entry on a website and a product, let's not get ahead of ourselves.
