HOLIDAY BONUS TIME! OH YEEEAHHH! CASH MONEEEYYYYY

Nothing. I work in retail and I'm working on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Year's. Greed.

My father was given coupons for soft drinks. That was his Christmas bonus.

Never seen a holiday bonus in my life. My wife used to get a bonus every holiday, but as (apparently somewhat common in SE Asia) it's not really a "bonus" - they just cut your yearly pay into 13 pieces instead of 12, and pay out the 13th as the bonus. (Pretty sure I remember reading that as common practice for Japanese game devs, too?)

I guess it saves companies money if they have to layoff before the end of the year, but kinda brutal nonetheless.

I think it was just over $200 this year and was closer to $375 last. Year before that was $550. I guess profit sharing isn't really a Christmas bonus, but we do always receive it right before the holidays which is nice.

Man,I miss getting a bonus...It used to be helpful each year. When I get my health back to positive,I know what kind of job to get :)

Do people really get holiday bonuses?

My first big job was at a private holding company that controlled several large public and private companies. The holding company was viewed by the rest of the companies as "the easy life" because it was where most of the execs from the other companies went to finish out their careers in a more relaxed environment after years of stress. Being a 25-ish year old IT guy I really lucked out there because most of the rewards extended to the execs also applied to us. Including a pretty substantial holiday bonus. Good times.

That was definitely the exception to the rule. Since moving on to other jobs I really haven't seen much in the way of a bonus, save an extra day off or something like that. Which is certainly very appreciated, mind you. My bonus this year was a $25 Target gift card. I accept it with gratitude.

They aren't called "Christmas" bonuses but at my company we get a performance bonus, a pay raise, and a profit sharing bonus every year.

This year, I got $2,000 for performance and our profit sharing will probably be a little over $2,000 as well. I also got $300 as a sales bonus this month. My raise will mean taking home $1,000 more next year.

The icing on the cake will be cashing out my PTO balance for nearly $1,300 as well. That's like over $5,000 in free cash.

The crazy part?
I only work 34 hours/4 days a week and my salary is only ~$30k a year.

Been working here 2 years. No bonuses ever, and I seriously doubt I'll get a raise.

But uh... we're going out for lunch in a few days! I think I'm getting a plate of fish and chips out of it. I hope I don't have to pay for it myself.
If you don't get a raise, you are working for LESS money after inflation <_<

Everyone in my company got $100. It's less than the $130 we got last year, but it looks like it's going to be consistent. Nice.

My mom got like 12 thousand or some crazy number like that.. I on the other hand got nothing as I am an unemployed hobo.

Boss came in 2 fridays ago and gave me a check for 5,000 on top of the 750 he gave the rest of the staff. Good times.

I have bled for the company, worked insanely on making sure it is a success and I have to give kudo's to a boss who rewards that kind of thing.

I also dislodged a fat programmer from being stuck underneath a truck the very first day I started my secondary job there...so...maybe he is worried I will need money to pay for the back surgery hahahahah

Our annual bonus hits every March and annual raises hit in April. We always setup a goal/target numbers for our division to hit at the start of every year and our bonus % is based around those figures. If we exceed, they they raise the bonus % for that section for however much we go over. The last few years we've been hitting 8-10%, but this year we're looking more at 4-6%. Works for my family since we usually get tax returns and bonus all round the same time making the month income even larger.

Yeah last year we had record breaking profits. Who would have thought you would save a lot of money firing a quarter of your workforce and hiring Indians?

This year we still made buckets of money, just not as much as last year. Since we didn't grow we need to do better, hence no bonus.

I think we work for the same company... I'd happily trade the bonus for them bringing the jobs back here. Unfortunately, no bonus AND we have to deal with India.

Last year - $1,000 and 5 days paid vacation (after only 6 months of employmemt)
This year - Nothing

Fuck 2011. Seriously, just fuck this year.

My job is such bullshit. I work in a Radiology department as a systems analyst. While I'm not a supervisor (we have two and a director. I report to the director), I'm essentially second in command. But last year, all non management got 1000$ bonuses. The supervisors, who do less work, have less responsibility and make roughly the same money ( although I'm hourly and they're salaried) got 10,000$ bonuses.

Ain't that some shit?

Got a $20 Walmart gift card while working at a large manufacturer. Shit hardly even pays for enough gas to go to work for the week. They probably bought the cards in bulk for under $5 a piece. What a joke.

Got $400 at my old company after taxes last year. Nothing this year.

Though I know my boss actually gives out a 24 month (yes you read that right) bonus at the end of the year.

Do you happen to be the architect of one of the four main compontents of a safety-critical system used nationwide across the entire national airspace?
I would love to be the architect of an "O-shit" blinking safety light. That would be a bonus in itself.

I thought I got $30 but then realized they were paying me for gas I had used driving to Tennessee from Ohio for an acquisition we just made.

I spent close to $100 driving there...

Edit: I got $20 gift card to Walmart for a turkey or something.

Got about $2,950 in year-end individual and branch-based growth bonuses. Plus about $5,000 in restricted stock options from corporate for performance incentive. My raise wasn't huge but I had a promotion during the summer and another one coming some time next year that'll make my potential bonus pools much larger for 2012.

Fuck yeargh.

I Work for the largest health insurance company in the country and have never gotten anything..... I guess it's bad politically or something, lol.

I got a book.

I work as a payrolled full-time production editor for a publishing house that has existed for 600 years, and for a holiday bonus, the entire New York office got a book we published 6 months ago.

I'm not complaining--a lot of people aren't employed or get jack squat for the holidays, but as a company that runs a not-so-optional secret santa, that's kind of lame.

Did you guys get anything nice? Make me feel sad.
You work at Oxford Press? Girl on my Facebook just posted about the same book. :lol

typically larger companies don't igve out bonuses I find, outside of the financial sector.

Got both my bi-monthly paycheck and cash bonus deposited today into my bank account.

Was a nice surprise seeing all that money in the account. Only really used a portion of the bonus to pay for a new snowboarding jacket, some is covering bills and I'll be putting a chunk into savings.

Work for a Fortune 500 company in the US and most employees here get somewhere between 10% - 25% of their base salary depending on their position, assuming the company is doing well.

My job is such bullshit. ... ( although I'm hourly and they're salaried)

Ain't that some shit?

Uhh, not really. This is standard practice, and I assume there's something that they posses that you don't which allows them to be salaried unlike you. Do you have an Associate's Degree and they have a Bachelor's? That's just the way the world works.

Could be worse, you could be a Porn Star. Those guys get no bonuses.

I made $5000 with a good deal so I consider that my christmas bonus. As a student with a supermarkt job I could really use the money too.

At work we get some candy for Sinterklaas and a 25 euro giftcard.

I'm sorry if you make less than $100000 your bonus shouldn't be taxed. No way the government deservse 40% of my money bonus. Fuck you!!
