Hardly. People will actually buy and play the GOW collection.

Its the full n64 game, ported to only 360 in high res with online.
That and the game fucking owned.
Shurs said:That's a good question. I don't have a good answer. I think that anyone interested in buying a 360 because of the Halo series already has one. That being said, I don't think that Microsoft looks at ODST as a system seller they look at it as a game that will sell over four million copies. I'd wager that Modern Warfare 2 will sell more 360's than ODST.

Poimandres said:See... I would argue that not eveyone who is interested in Halo has a 360. There are a lot of "casual" Halo fans who wouldn't necessarily buy a machine just for Halo. Having a new game in the franchise on the market may effectively bring that series into the mind of a potential buyer. Say someone decided they need a machine for MW2- they see that it's on 360 and PS3, then they see an ODST poster and think "Oh yeah, Halo is fun" so they decide to go for the 360. Purely hypothetical of course.
It might not sell systems, but it could very well contribute to system sales.
why you perceive the wii lineup as lacking is because you are unaware of the games coming out for it.
Lagspike_exe said:If released, Gran Turismo 5 will be the biggest seller this holiday (if we are talking only about exclusive games). Hands down.

This is a pretty good post. I agree largely. There's some stuff I'm interested in on Wii, but man, the meaning of niche really has changed.Alex said:I own a Wii, I know everything that comes out for it, I'm one of the insanely few people that actually buy the niche games on the machine like Little King's Story.
The Wii isn't some haven of niche or unique software, and the myth that it is really needs to stop, because it gets annoying when I have a console I buy 1-2 games for in a YEAR being treated like it's some fountain of non-stop software on par with the Playstation 2.
When things like Madworld and Muramasa come out, which are still rarities on the Wii compared to niche RPG's and gems on any other platform, it's largely followed by months of utter nothingness that would appeal to the crowd who isn't as big on Wii Sports or Wii Fit.
I have nothing else to buy for 2009 after Muramasa, and three or so to buy in 2010. I'm buying 6 games for the Playstation 3 for the remainder of 2009 by comparison and god only knows how many in Q1 2010.
To me, that is a little anemic on the Wii's side and that's why it's my secondary console. For all the money Nintendo has I wish they'd put a little more back into it. Blizzard doesn't need to release mini-expansions for WoW every three months but they do it, Valve doesn't have to give away all their content on the PC and update games like TF2 non-stop when there's no fee, but they do it. There's no excuse just to sit around and ignore a fanbase just because it won't CURRENTLY forcefeed you money.

Especially since some of the big ps3 games this fall and early next year are also sequels.
Uncharted 2, Ratchet & Clank, Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2, God of War 3, etc.
Poimandres said:So which are which? I'm having a hard time differentiating between them here...
What, with all the sequels, expansions and refined versions filling out most of both lists.

So.. is Afrika supposed to be good? It's exactly the kind of game I want, but it seems like the execution might be questionable...Darkpen said:I hope they voiced Afrika, instead of making it awkwardly silent when the NPCs talk to you.
The sequels/refined versions are on the PS3.

I thought FFXIII was confirmed 2009 for Japan. GT5 is an enigma. The game is even being advertised as a december 2009 release over here. (Holland)
I'm also expecting some fourth wall smashing, high level screen tear from that one.Shogun PaiN said:Bayonetta?
H.Cornerstone said:I think the reason people are calling ODST an "expansion pack" is because thats what it was originally announced as and Bungie said they would therefore not charge it full price. And now it's $60 and people are just curious if it will warrant that price tag or if MSFT is just milking the Halo name. Only time will tell.
BenjaminBirdie said:Who cares what it was "announced" as? It's clear as day in every preview and piece of gameplay media that it's a full featured game featuring:
- A full single player storyline in an openworld
- A new co-op gamemode
- Oh and a bonus, 3 Playable Halo 3 Maps
It just boggles the mind. You could announce whatever you want, but that whole "people are just curious if it will warrant that price tag" is ominously wrongheaded as any curiosity has by now been roundly satisfied by the acres of media coverage of the final product.

billy.sea said:Out of the 3 consoles, the 360 has the least interesting exclusives this year.
An expansion pak (GTA Gay Tony)
A quick cash-in (Left 4 Dead 2)
A spin off title to a sequel that's $60 (Halo 3 ODST)
Forza 3 (though not as hyped as Gran Turismo)
It's less hyped because it's a smaller IP. How is that surprising? GT5 will outsell it, regardless of the quality of the games.Keikoku said:Uh ? Here, maybe, but Forza 2 was already better than both GT4>5so I don't see why it would be less hyped than GT5. Forza 3 features/graphics are just amazing (last livery editors videos proves it)

BenjaminBirdie said:So Forza is a failure because it's "not as hyped"? That's silly. Everyone's list is going to be subjective, which I why I don't understand why people need to denigrate other games (especially in such a ridiculous fashion) instead of talking about why they're excited about the games they're actually excited about.
