It is 3-dimensional. If you look from behind you see it's back. It's using thousands of individual lasers, it's not a crappy projector.

Nope, the medium could be a colorless gas for example, instead of water. The gas could be confined into a small space, and this projector, provided it has the resolution needed, could simply project 3-d images 'into' the gas.

No it's just using a variation of the Fantasmic! technology for water projection. They can't use the exact same type of water screens as Disney has it patented, but they made their own.

Is Fantasmic actually a fully 3D image? This monster projection looks like a real hologram, and is said to be one, so that if you walk around it, you see it from different sides.

Fantasmic looks more like an extruded 2D image or something that you'd get if you project a 2D image onto a gas cloud from just one projector.
