Holy crap, PS4-Vita Remote Play is unbelievably good.

No it isn't even under optimal condition the video quality is noticeably blooky I think the DF article is pretty spot on. For the record I really enjoy that feature but calling it unbelievable is pushing it.

I purchased the WiFi Powerline Adapter. I will report back and let everyone know how they work. They were on sale earlier in the day on Amazon for $79.99

I wanted to report back. I purchased this adapter last week. I received the shipment on Saturday and hooked up the one adapter to my router and the other in my bedroom where I was receiving a weak signal. I must say, it has done a great job at giving me a better WiFi connection on my Vita. I am now able to use Remote Play without any dips or connections errors. The only games I have tried so far are Resogun, Don't Starve, and NBA 2K. So far, no issues!

I have to say that since turning off direct connection and just using my home network (Ethernet to BT Homehub 5), I've had no loss in graphical quality or the connection problem icon come up. Even Resogun has been solid, Knack used to crap out on me quite a bit too.

Very glad to hear that buddy :)

I've been playing AC4 since launch between my TV and my Vita using Remote Play and I can say that my experience has been near flawless.

1- The range is much better than WiiU. Ok, it's probably not using the same channels but having tested both inside my house, Remote Play works fine.

2- Even though I don't know if devs will be able to use the RP feature like a "second screen" (like some coop games on WiiU), I enjoy the fact that I get my PS4 experience on my Vita anywhere inside my home. I wouldn't call it unbelivable but it's close though...

3- The only time where I got graphical distortion was when I was playing in the kitchen and my wife used the microwave.

4- Ok, controls with the rear pad are far from perfect so don't expect to be as good at CoD on your Vita but for other genre, it's fine.

5- I use direct connection from PS4 to Vita. PS4 being in my basement and me playing on the main floor. I have also a wifi router with iPad, iPhones, AppleTV connected to it. Zero interference between the two.

It's LEAGUES away from RP that PS3/PSP had.

This is interesting. When I use Remote Play direct to the PS4, it works flawlessly most of the time, but will hitch up here and there. I had followed someone's instructions to get it on a channel that wasn't heavily used and it's better than it was before (sometimes it just wouldn't even connect and hitched way more often), it still isn't flawless and I definitely don't feel like I could run it direct to PS4 from down in my basement or anywhere out of the immediate vicinity of the PS4.

Yes, SwiftDeath! Thanks so much for the input on what to use. Your help was great.

I agree. I have a better connection using my home network. Direct Connection only works if within 10 feet of the PS4. If I am using remote play, I usually am further away or else I'd just use the PS4.

But if you are within 10 ft, which is the better choice router or direct?

If you mean like a second player's controller/screen, knack and NFS do that. If you mean inventory management? There's actually a game coming for PS2 that allows that, Class of Heroes 2G(Don't suggest the game personally, just pointing out that it has the functionality).

Edit:

Varies. My router works better than my direct, at any range.

They defintely support the 2nd screen experience. Up to devs to support it though. Only time I've encountered it was Need for Speed: Rivals.

If Sony created something to add physical R2L2 buttons it'd be the greatest accessory ever. Lacking those makes many games a bit of a chore unfortunately.

I'd had mixed experiences. Works great sometimes, not so great other times. My PS4 being in the basement and having a sorta shaky WI-fi connection down there doesn't help though.

No idea if i have it set up using direct connect to the Vita. I'll have to look at some point. It's great when it works though.

I'm curious if with the VitaTV eventually gaining DS4 support, if the Vita itself can't gain DS4 support

Wow my uncle, brother, and i had three player fifa going and the remote play was working flawlessly. Does anyone know if there's a thread/website that lists PS4 games with the second screen option?

LTTP but remote play is awesome! Finally I can carry on gaming in bed or when one the mrs's 'program's' is on.

Works really well, love how they've adapted the controls in second son too, wish all games would think about their remote play control schemes

I have my ps4 wired and the vita (2000) on wifi. Luckily I get great signal throughout the house so all good. Might be worth using inssider or similar to see if you're on a particularly busy wifi channel?

Tried it with inFamous and GZ yday after not touching it since before Xmas. Either these games are better tuned for it or it's better than I remember for some reason.

However the lack of 1:1 controls just makes me sigh as to what could've been. Vita TV support can't come soon enough as I'd buy one straight away.

And now that I have 4G and Fibre Optic I was going to give Remote Play over the internet a go but my 4G data limit has run out and the Vita got an update! (I'm not updating for PSP hack reasons). However using a proxy I can still get it to work so I'll give it another try soon. I doubt I'd ever use it in a RL scenario anyway.

Direct connection is surprisingly worse than via the network. For best connection, make sure the PS4 is on wired connection to your router.
It makes sense. The router can give better range. I got a new N router a few days ago so I'm going to leave direct connection switched off.

I still haven't been able to get it to work via internet, works great at home though.

I tried it from a personal hotspot on my 4G phone - looked great but the controls in the PS Home screen were like 2 seconds laggy. Weirdly though, started up stryder and in game it controlled fine?!

I couldn't even connect at my gf's house. It doesn't find the PS4 at all. I already set my router settings, but I could have done it wrong though. I already set DMZ and everything.

Yeah I still cannot connect over the router. Tried to adjust all the settings.

I manage to remotely turn the PS4 on from standby, but then connection drops and I get an error on my Vita.

Direct connection works flawlessly though.

Interesting... I did nothing on my router at all, guessing the PS4 set it up itself on UPNP? PS4 says I have NAT type 2?

Remote Play tested from Osaka, Japan to my house in Salt Lake City, UT (USA). Connected first try without issue.

Too much lag to actually play anything (I'd test an RPG or something if one was out there), but I was able to navigate the store and the UI without issue.

See this is why I just want to fucking connect via the Internet if I could :(

Just accessing the damn thing on an OS level would be huge for me.
