Holy Night Vision Goggles...COD:MW2 Prestige Edition!

WTF, 402 says the "Hardened Edition" is $80. Since when are CE's $20 over the game price?
5 years ago? It may have just been because the canadian dollar wasn't as strong back then, but I distinctly remember paying over $70 for the Halo 2 metal box (which is still one of the best looking and simple limited edition games to date).

I have so many fond memories of playing Call of Duty on the PC back in the day. I never would have thought I'd be playing it on the PlayStation 3.

On PC, we'd use mods to make it "hardcore" mode, so I really hope it has the hardcore mode from CoD4. Otherwise...

its really not any more useless than the master chief cat helmet that didnt fit your cat

the most interesting thing from this news is that it says Call of Duty on the normal box.

This.

I mean why buy 3 or 4 games this holiday season when I could give it all my money to Activision for a game and a bunch of crap.

Halo 3 and Gears 2 CE's were $70.

So you can devote your self to a single game! Most people over look the virtue in playing a single game to death then running though 3 and 4 quickly.

I understand where your coming from but come on. It's Cod. SP won't be any longer than 5 hours. And that's all I would be interested in.

I agree that it's ridiculous, but you don't understand what makes CoD so incredibly popular.

hint: it's not the SP

I know it's the mulitplayer. I've played my fair share. It's just Activision's plan to squeeze as much money out of everything is what pisses me off.

This attitude baffles me. Company offers something some people want and you get annoyed. Why?

Then they are fucking stupid.

Says the guy posting on a video game message board. Here's a news flash for you: people find enjoyment and satisfaction from things that you may not. Try not to get too worked up about it champ.

wtf collector's editions are worthless and its hard to tell what games really do appreciate in value if for collector's value you buy it for.

If I really wanted a pair of night vision goggles I'd just buy a Russian pair for $200 or so.

Sure, and those people are fucking stupid because it's a cheap ass, dumb looking toy bundled with a video game whose predecessor was almost purely a somber experience. So unless this game is significantly different in tone from the first one, the EyeClops doesn't belong.

By the way, I've paid and resold a good deal of limited items varying vastly in resale price based on numbering and included boxset items such as roses, recordings and whatnot, so don't think you're teaching me anything about collecting, sport.

What the hell do I need night vision goggles for. I would have been excited if they'd announced a CE with a soundtrack and a making of documentary.

Isn't that everyone's plan?

Yeah it is. But Activision is downright annoying with it's sequels and endless peripherals. Cod, Guitar Hero, Tony Hawk etc..

You don't see any value whatsoever in the goggles. Some people don't see any value whatsoever in a video game. You know what kind of person calls another stupid for liking something they don't? An asshole.

Meh. I own Call of Duty 1 on the PC, I will be able to read the artbook from a friend, family member or online, Steelbook cases are always plus though. The NVGs I find complete useless nor "cool". The regular copy will be for me but like Faceless Master said, we'll see this on clearance next to the Halo 3 Cat-Helmet next year.

Publishers really have to try harder with these premium editions.

FirstInHell said:
This limited edition, like the Halo 3 helmet is just stupid. Aren't they going to sell 10 million copies of this game and make a shitton of money? Why do they have to fill a box full of a pile of junk to milk their fanbase even more?

Because companies like money and they know a bunch of people will buy this. You can't really fault Activision for putting this out, blame the people who buy it.

I can't wait to see the Mega64 spoof that results from this.

Umm... this would really be like going to an army surplus store and purchasing a pair of night vision goggles - and then they give you a "free" video game with the purchase. When you're going to GameStop you're going there to buy a VIDEO GAME. Selling the consumer a pair of NIGHT VISION GOGGLES (seriously.) at a video game store is kinda outside the target market for those wishing to purchase a pair of night vision goggles.

Seriously this is as dumb as selling someone a video game when they go in to purchase something completely different.

gj activision.

it'd be cool if it was a night vision goggle we could actually use but the range of sight is probably 5-10 feet at best.

You gotta admit for the extra money they will probably ask its probably got no value in either utility or coolness factor.

I'll probably get the Hardened Edition if it makes COD Classic cheaper than buying it alone. Otherwise I have no interest in all this junk that comes with games these days.

Just a normal copy of MW2 is going to cost more than any other game as they raised the RRP by £5.

So there is a good chance you could buy nearly 3 games for the price of getting the "prestige edition" which wont be limited at all, this is Activision we are talking about.

Ouch. Just last week in GAME, they're "Deal of the Week" or whatever was COD4 for £30! It came out in fucking 2007!

Call of Duty games, Nintendo games and Rock Band are things that never drop in price.

They were both stupid. Can't underlie that any better.

The helmet was for display and Frankie, I believe, made the joke on a BWU about being used on a cat.

I didn't know I wanted a pair of night vision goggles until right now.

If the sculpted heads were modeled after Bobby Kotick instead of McTavish, this edition would have been a lot more interesting.

So, CoD7 SE bundle featuring real Dragunov sniper rifle?
No, it's Treyarch, it'll be something completely fucking useless to the consumer (even more so than a pair of night vision goggles) such as a parachute. Then there will be people (or a person) in the PR thread attempting to defend Treyarch's award winning decision to bundle a military parachute with a video game, claiming,"If you need a video game, you need a parachute". Oh really, how so!

It wouldn't be in Treyarch's best interests to bundle Draganovs with their next game because as soon as the consumers realise what a complete pile of uninspired shit it is, they will all come charging Draganovs in hand to Treyarch's front gates.
