Homefront: The Revolution "This is Philadelphia" Trailer

So this is the 19993535269th time revolution has been used in a video game?

The game looks nice though. THe initial reveal was really good, so hoping this turns out great. Hope it doesnt turn out to be a UBIworld clone

There is not a single piece of Korean writing in that trailer, which for me is not really a good sign. I am not american (hell, I go on business trips to Korea more often than the states), but I think this strong element of something "foreign" in a domestic landscape helps strengthening the feeling of occupation. It can also be used in much more clever ways like in Crysis, where enemies spoke Korean on higher difficulties, which made it harder to understand their leaders' commands / tactics.

Then again, maybe it is just the trailer.

I find it hard to get excited for any kind of campaign here but the multiplayer in the first game wasn't too bad, so I'm atleast interested in seeing that

Poor, victimised america for the umpteenth time

I don't usually get turned off by the politics of ridiculous military blockbusters like CoD or Battlefield, but this is basically "NRA Wet Dream: The Game", and it looks like it's taking itself completely seriously.

That was an awful video. Especially that voice.

Yeah. Didn't do anything for me. I own the original Homefront ( don't ask me why) uninstalled it not long after playing it. One of my worst purchases. Too bad steam refund wasn't a thing back then ;).

The funny thing is, we already have a game that did a decent job of the "America under siege" storyline without feeling overwrought, ridiculous, or "NRA: The Game." It's World In Conflict.

Huh? Yeah there is. There's not a lot but it's there.

Unfortunately, this will be another one of those bargin bin purchases. There just just waaay too many games coming out next year to play immediately. The first game was pretty fun though.

What the hell is that.
If it ain't a brick of original, get outta my face with that shit.

Nah, Garden Vegi FTW.

I honestly kinda hope this turns out good. A shooter focusing on guerilla warfare does sound very fun, the problem comes in balancing how much resistance the player can put up. I remember reading a preview of the game where the player ambushed a convoy of soldiers and then was supposed to flee when reinforcements were called in, but instead chose to fight and won.

Still, it looks pretty good, so I have some hope.

Could be this years dying light. Has sleeper hit written all over it IMO.

A surprisingly on-point parallel.

Techland: release a turd with amazing marketing (Dead Island) which sells like hotcakes, enabling them to release a truly great game (Dying Light)

These guys: release a turd with amazing marketing (Homefront) which sells like hotcakes, enabling them to release a truly great (?) game (HF: Revolution)

The only part i'm not sure about is exactly how hotcake-like Homefront sold.

However, Techland made both Dead Island and Dying Light.

With Homefront, the first one was Kaos Studios and now Deep Silver Dambuster (aka Crytek UK aka Free Radical).

Also, Deep SIlver published that Dead Island 1 game and they are publishing this...

Homefront 1 sold more like lukewarm biscuits than hotcakes. Plus, it was from a different developer, so it's not entirely analogous.

Have they explained the disparity between the end of the last game (
America holding the line at the Mississippi, striking at the Koreans in San Francisco, and the EU sending forces to help America
) and the story here?

It's not really fair to judge this game based upon the first Homefront considering the word "Homefront" and the basic premise are really the only things connecting the two games. With a new developer, setting, open world, etc. this might as well be a new IP at this point. It looks to me like it could go either way.

I also hated the trailer/VO but you can probably blame Deep Silver's marketing dept. for that.

The game itself is a cool concept and looks like fun. IGN had gameplay at Gamescom that looked intriguing.

If you're really asking, "How do trailers like this get the green light?" Well...that's a different question. One I don't have the answer to.

EDIT: Also, the Gamescom trailer was awesome.

Eh idk... i feel like in general this will be a huge flop. The concept's been done to death, the visuals look majorly "meh-tier"... i don't see anything new or interesting or compelling here. Totally, 100% opinion... but i just see games like this sometimes that make me scratch my head and say, "How did they honestly think this would sell well and make a big profit?".

I like the devs so I really hope it does well for them... i just wouldn't bet on it.

I'm one of those weird people that really, really enjoyed HomeFront's campaign and lore in the previous game - even bought the book. A flawed game, but the atmosphere and the situations/environments that put you through were interesting and varied. I'm conflicted with this game, because the previous videos looked like the game would be expanding on the things I loved in the original and ditching its linearity, however this trailer is giving me "generic first person shooter" vibes. Not a good trailer at all, especially when you haven't shown anything for almost a year

good to know, thanks chappies

Am I the only person who see that we fight the Koreans in the "Yellow Zone"...smh? *sigh* -__-

I'll try out the beta if I get selected though. Doesn't look all that great to me tbh.

The graphics kinda remind me of second son. Not a bad thing.

I'll keep it on my radar but that trailer was a little campy.

And in the Green Zone you fight Martians? :P

Edit: Actually now that I think of it, would be a pretty fun plot-twist, aliens were behind the American occupation all along!

Didn't the first one do really poorly? Why didnt they just try a new IP, which it looks like it it is what they did somewhat.

This looked pretty bad to me, as a few posters already mentioned Killzone mixed with infamous SS.
