Homefront The Revolution: Xbox One X vs PS4 Pro/Xbox One Graphics Comparison

I bought this game used last year for about $7. I have it installed and updated but have yet to play it. I don't expect anything mind-blowing when it comes to gameplay, but is it at least a somewhat decent FPS?

Xbox One X- 3200x1800, maintains 30fps almost all the time

PS4 Pro- 2560x1440, drops frames during fire fight

Both consoles dont match a high end PC, Xbox One X is next in overall quality, then the PS4 Pro.

So can we start a narrative of how the pro cant keep up framerates? This game and Hitman dropping frames compared to the X version.

Game looks amazing in the X, glad to see yet another DF win.

A buggy/rough version of a modern far cry game, which is one way to describe it.

Yeah all the ppl in the star wars thread "framrate is the most important, i dont want all dat judder from the X version"

So now we know those same ppl will prefer the X version in this case lol.

that is crazy that a more recently released console is playing a game better than an older console. is this going to be a common thing where newer consoles run games better than older consoles?

Its not only newer consoles, the 360 ran games better then ps3 and the ps4 ran games better then X1.

If dont like discussing technical differences, dont post in these threads.

I know, could you imagine if Pro would have released along side of the X. Maybe that's why it didn't.

If they had of released it at the same time then it probably would of had a similar amount of power.

I actually really enjoyed this game so it's good to see it getting improvements on the Pro & X.

They noted one instance in the game where it dropped 1 fps. Not quite the same as The X having problems maintaining framerate throughout infinite warfare, often dropping between 2-10fps. But I know you only brought this up to be petty and continue your console warfare bs so lets not continue with this pointless discussion

I think a more interesting discussion brought up in the video (and made by many posters here) is why the developer didn't use cb rendering to get the pro to a higher res, considering the pro was built with that in mind. There have been a number of games where the developers have chosen to go with a more straight forward native res increase to 1440p, I'm wondering if this is either a matter of convenience for the developers, not getting great results with the process or not having the time/money/talent to implement the process

People made a HUGE deal out of BF2 dropping 1-2 FPS every once in a while. And they have turned this into a narrative for the X. Not surprised to see Sony warriors brush it off when the same thing happens to their console.

I'm pretty sure in that thread a couple of guys said they prefer the more stable framerate to a higher res increase, which was simply inconceivable to a few xbox supporters. There may have been some posters like thelastword that used it to engage in the cosole warfare that you're so fond of, but anyone familiar with his shtick would have just ignored him, just like i'm going to choose not to engage you about it.

The X is a far more powerful system than the pro. It should, and for the most part does win out in most of these df comparison videos. Congrats to ms on achieving their goals with the system performance wise, hopefully it'll help them out saleswise as well. None of that diminishes my enjoyment of my pro, and i'm sorry if that upsets you. You might wanna talk to someone about that (professionally, if you know what i'm saying)

I think you sony fans are just dizzy at all your pivots this gen, have fun with the next pivot

I'm pretty impressed withe the X and Pro enhancements here, the real standout for me though is the HDR implementation. Not the best of games but well worth the deeply discounted price I paid for the Pro version about a year ago.

Looks amazing, supposed to be shit though, isn't it?

It's a fun game. Just don't play it like your character is an unstoppable god and it's a great run and gun and stealth shooter. Love talking down patrols before they know I'm on top of them.

What other games this gen have used Cryengine?

Stop poisining every single thread with your crap. Isn't turning OT threads to shit enough? Do we need this threatened close minded bullshit in every single thread? Infantile dick measuring on both sides for the benefit of nobody.

I can confirm its pure shit. Played it half a year ago on PC, basically a ubi open world game with a different skin with trash story and characters development. Pretty graphics doesn't save it.

I don't know, I thought it was OK.

It's definitely not a good game and I paid almost nothing for it and I think if you can get it really cheap and you go into it knowing what to expect then it has a few decent moment. I suppose the real issue is that everything is so cheap at the moment so if you find this really cheap are likely to be much better games that you can spend that money on.

I picked up the game + DLC on Steam for like $8 and went in with an open mind. I had heard lots about how it was meant to be pretty bad, but I thought how bad can it be, especially at that price. I've always loved the idea behind these games and thought even if it is generic, the visuals look pretty great so surely I can push through and make some fun out of it.

Well after having played it my thoughts now are while I wouldn't call it shit, it is extremely average in just about every aspect. Nothing in the game is memorable. It's kinda hard to explain but yeah everything in the game just feels plain. I only managed to get 10 hours played before giving up due to boredom.

Even at a cheap price I sadly couldn't recommend it. There really are so many better games out there waiting to be played.

To be fair though, kudos to the dev's for still supporting the game with patches this long after launch.

So as I said even before XBONEX launched. The divide would be about that (1440p vs 1800p) as far as resolution is concerned. In order for the XBONEX to keep it's framerate up that is, with no tearing....we're seeing similar graphical settings with PRO.

Still a bit unfortunate that devs are not using PRO hardware as it was designed though. 2160CB vs 1800p would have been revelatory and the TAA implementation would be even easier with CB too.

Maybe CB isn't the magic bullet people want it to be. There has been at least one game that I know of, forgot which one, but it was close to the launch of the Pro, that had some real bad artifacts.

Maybe someone more technical than me can jump in, but it's possible that CB rendering doesn't work that great with every engine, or maybe it's not as easy to implement as people think.

or....maybe the difference between what ever BS number they come up with for the CB resolution isn't really much better than 1440p scaled up.

It dropped to 29fps. Strong narrative there.

These threads devolve into shit when the same three or so clowns crap it up with their fanboy drivel.

What other games this gen have used Cryengine?

A few. Evolve, EverybodyÂ’s Gone to the Rapture, Prey, Sniper: Ghost Warrior 3, and of course Ryse: Son of Rome are the ones that would matter to most people here. Crytek used the newest version of the engine (CryEngine V) for a couple of VR games like Robinson The Journey and The Climb. Plus thereÂ’s the upcoming Hunt: Showdown.

ItÂ’s not heavily favored this generation compared to other engines.

One thing is for sure, Cryengine can do some nice visuals, it's a shame too, because there are few cryengine games this generation. If this dev team could improve what was awful performance on consoles at launch, then it bodes well for more accomplished devs with the engine....

Not that Crytek has done better on consoles from a performance standpoint, but I'd love to see the Crysis Trilogy remastered in Cryengine 4 with solid performance. Prey is not a bad looking game either, so we need more games to use this engine...just nail the perf on day one...is all.

The X makes this amazing, but considering the launch its not like the Pro does not put in amazing work.
May finally pick it up if I can find it cheap

These threads are pointless, since the hardware is much better on the X one, but this one in particular is even more worthless because the game is crap.

Game looks generic.

I am about halfway through it and I would say that while it has some generic enemy design, the world and everything else is pretty great.

I would not say the game is crap on any level at this point. I only wish it had carried over the multiplayer from the first game...that was a blast!
