Honest Trailers - The Amazing Spider-Man 2

Watching TASM 2 again, only bad parts are the Osborn curse, dragging out this parent stuff, and Dillon pre Electro

Everything else is aight at worst

I will give the movie credit for one thing: hiring Chris Cooper to show up for thirty seconds as a dying Norman Osborn is a great way to fake out the audience into expecting him to show up again.

Shit he would have if the movies continued

No joke, his decapitated head would've been part of sequels/spin-offs.

And it could've worked if they did Superior Foes and had Norm's head in place if Silvermane's.

GOD DAMN GWEN'S HEAD HITS THAT PAVEMENT AIN'T EVEN NEED A SNAP

Who told Kendrick this song with Alicia Keys was a good idea

ASM wasn't bad. I quite liked it, because once again. It focused on one villain, Peter, and his relationships.

Then two comes around and it has everything for a solid flick. Peter's reckless ways putting the ones he love in danger, him fighting between what he is versus becoming, actions have consequences.

Except, we have to jam in the stupidest fucking villain to date alongside the Spiderman CU

There's like an hour or so of actually really good material in TASM2. Shame that it's saddled in with a bunch of shitty attempts at universe building and uninteresting subplots. That run time is completely ridiculous for the actual meat of the story being told.

TASM1 though is actually a decent movie.

So so much bullshit amongst the good stuff involving Gwen and Peter, possibility of Harry being a good character, Max once he's actually Electro

You can tell it was directed by Romantic Comedy director and that the two were dating. Honestly a movie more about them while removing electro, the parents bullshit, the shoe horn in set ups and honestly just the Osborne would have been fine

Oh so you just stay stuck in one era and can't ever accept something different

Got it
Harry's whole character arc is that he wants to avenge his father but he lacks his father's ruthlessness, and is at his core a good person.
Having him be the one who kills Gwen goes completely against his character.

Yeah, that stuff specifically. There's nothing really bad about Peter, Gwen, and even Harry before he turns Goblin. Electro is a decent villain. I actually even liked Paul Giamatti's Rhino bookending the movie, but that's mostly because I just like hammy villains in general.

But then you look at your watch and realize that there's another hour and a half of crap in the movie that just doesn't work at all and shouldn't have made it past early script drafts. Learned nothing from Spider-Man 3 indeed, on top of trying to jam as much world building as the first 5 MCU movies into one.

While the movie is shit that doesn't apply to this movie where he hated his father felt he was abandoned and back stabbed and was desperate to not suffer the same fate as his father. The execution wasn't good but him killed was fine the problem was because how stuffed it is it didn't give it enough time to breath and focus and you can tell it was done out of obligation.

Like I feel for Peter when Gwen dies because from TASM it feels genuine. They have so many cute moments, in TASM 2 when they're breaking up I feel awful, when they come back and talk about not smiling at each other or calling each other adorable, etc. it's all so cute and Gwen is a good character. When she dies it hits. Those moments are good. Shoulda kept Harry normal yet slowly dying but none of the Peter's blood thing.

What's with Orci and Kurtzman and magic blood.
Also that whole part was so contrived to make Harry hate him

Amazing Spider-Man 2 is one of those movies where you can almost see the studio notes on the screen as you watch. They screwed the pooch in the same way they did with Spider-Man 3. They obviously wanted an effects heavy villain for marketing (Sandman/Electro) but also wanted an iconic villain with a more personal connection to Parker since this was a sequel (Goblin/Venom/Goblin).

I think Electro could've worked if he was just in the same size role as Rhino. Now Harry's plot, that was just too rushed. The characters who have a personal animus against Peter (and not just Spidey) aren't getting enough development 'cause the writers are too busy giving us spoonfuls of sugar to make the outlandish villains go down smoothly.

I don't remember hating the Peter & Gwen moments...but I honestly only remember shit that was in the commercials so...lol

This scene is horrible, wtf. These safety precautions are so absurdly poor that it takes you out of the scene and ruins everything else.
The scene of him rebuilding himself is great, but yeah, the location of the experiment is weirdly random. What exactly are they even testing? Was it about what effect their device has on the sand? Why didn't anyone collect the sand after the test was done?

"Let's see what happens when we blast this huge pile of sand with this 1950s science-fictiony gamma ray thing. At like midnight."

I liked this movie, it had stakes and an actually believable couple on top of a good soundtrack by Zimmer. It has nothing on Raimi but it was certainly not the burning piece of garbage disaster some people try to make fact, probably people who are pissed at Sony/Fox.

1st is complete and utter trash though.

I remember when I got banned for calling Garfield's Spider-man a cunt.

What made me laugh is that he was just as cunty in the second film.

I realized that the reason I didn't like Garfield for those movies was (in addition to the reboots very existence being kind of offensive) was because of his Edward Cullen hair.

He's way too pretty for me to buy him being a loser.

ASM1: average superhero mediocrity, but its more or less competently made.

AMS2: a seemingly rushed, poorly-thought out mishmash of different sequences. It's frankly almost Fant4stic-tier for me, in that the movie as a whole looks like it's barely hanging on by a thread. The VFX simply got a higher budget.

I liked this vid, but could've gone in even harder.

Because Garfield wasn't a complete sad sack.

But Maguire wasn't a complete sad sack?

Garfield just sucked in these movies, he looked bored out of his mind. Oh he tells a few "jokes." I guess that makes him good.

But I don't blame Garfield, the ASM duology is the dullest shit.

-The Osborn shit and his disease
-Osborn Company sheningans
-Secret Six setup
-The dragged on Family secret bullshit
-Gwen's college
-Aunt Mays Hospital
-Ghost Dad

60 seconds of walking passed a wall of costumes prior to the credits isn't a subplot.

Now perhaps you just meant Rhino?
