Horizon sells 716,000 copies on PC in release month

How did a topic about Horizon's decent PC 1st month sales get sidetracked into a fucking lame piracy topic.
Sony Fanboys, as usual.
Any topic that's not about Playstation they have to find a way to derail, usually with stupid arguments like the ones we see here.

Why on earth do you give a shit if some pirate it? Look at those sales numbers, and it's a shitty port. They made some bank, and will continue to do so. You actually WANT Denuvo in games? :messenger_dizzy:

So many consumers on this board support anti consumer practices, it's hilarious. Buncha wackos!

I think fucknuggets like that guy you quoted have some antiquated ideas about rampant PC game piracy. Is it still a thing? Sure. But it's nowhere near the level it was a decade-plus ago.

QUESTION:

Does anybody know if Horizon for PC has trophies? Is it a different trophy set or is it the same list of PS4 version?

I want to double dip this one, only if I can achieve the trophies again

Yes all thanks to DRM solutions like Denuvo.

If PC piracy wasn't rampant then why are these solutions being used?

Thanks to rising quality of living and better solutions to buy games.

Steam was the main reason to the drop in piracy. Just like music piracy dropped once there was a more convenient way to listen to music.

LOL. So are you for piracy or against piracy? Because it seems to me you're all over the shop on this one. Also, I think Denuvo has a lot less to do with things and it's more down to it being a lot easier and less hassle to buy games on Steam etc versus dick around with torrents. Especially when there are inevitably post-release patches.

Yes piracy is down thanks to DRM solutions like Denuvo.

If DRM didn't exist piracy would still be rampant especially for single player games.

Tell me if piracy wasn't an issue in the PC market then why do the likes of Denuvo exist?

GOG doesn't have DRM, yet they seem to do quite well ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

GOG sells a lot of single-player games 🤔

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but not that many games use Denuvo

Maybe get better arguments, the expiry date on this one said 'Best before 2006' get with the times

More and more games are using DRM as time passes by.

Why?

Probably because it works.

There's like a handful of games that have Denuvo.

There's even fewer that aren't cracked.

Its amazing how well Horizon Zero Dawn has done, considering its a new IP. Looking forward to seeing the PC version get more patches and a sale.

One of the few games I would double dip on.

The thing which PlayStation fans feared the most has come true: one of their AAA first party PlayStation games has sold very well on PC, earning Sony over 25+ million dollars in profit, and signals the future of more PlayStation games coming to PC.

Sony: "We will explore expanding our first-party titles to the PC platform, in order to promote further growth in our profitability".

Well deserved, it´s such a great game!

Bought it on Epic and for me personally it was a great port.

It has a fov slider, full screen on my non widescreen crt and great mouse+keyboard controls. I only had one crash in my full playthrough so i can´t complain there either :)

Ps fans honestly... What do you fear? The games will still be released on your console.

If you feel that games releasing on other platforms somehow invalidate your purchase that's why you were never convinced that a console was good value in the first place.

You can check:

With a quick look, they seem to be the same

It's fine and being blown way out of proportion.
some people having small problems doens't mean that the port is fine.

some people don't have problems with avengers too and that thing is the most bugged game in existence.

maybe it's fine now after some patches, i onestly stopped following the state of this shitshow weeks ago.

Wasn't a shit show, had minor bugs. Were fixed in a patch.

Not from what i readed\watched and like i said, maybe you were one of the lucky ones without problems.

Horizon is my gotg and i was eagerly waiting for a second run on pc, do you think that i would bail out from buying it on pc if the game was in an acceptable state?!

You're a bit dense son.

Nah console sale standards are higher.

That it is a failure especially when you consider this is the first major Sony IP to be released.

Death stranding has done barely 500k.

Detroit and Heavy Rain even worse.

716,000 copies sold.

PCMR - Sold well.

LOL. Still bitter I see.

Truth is they didn't pimp it particularly strongly, and the initial word of mouth on the port wasn't great. Although they have been patching it quite diligently so I expect come the inevitable Christmas Sales on Steam with a modest 20-25% discount it will do quite well in terms of pick up from New players either coming off Cyberpunk, or Double Dippers who held off on a day one. PC has a long sales tale on AAA titles for the most part.

Let's put it this way

All the multi-system customers probably already bought it on PS4.
Some section of the PC crowd just never cared.
Very little marketing or a lot of us don't watch marketing crap.

I don't own HZD because I don't care about that kind of game. the only way this title affects me or any fandom I'm into is speculation that the ps4-exclusive LBG and questline in Monster Hunter World might get ported over too. Also, Denuvo.

Let's see how well a 3.5 year old Ubisoft Clone would do at full price on Playstation.
I believe your guess would be 2-3million first month?

latest

They either were too young or they blocked out, like stockholm syndrome, the Sloppy Seconds era of PS3 late ports from XBOX360.
I thought it was going to do at best 250000.

Divinity: Original sin 2 Steam -> +2.000.000 players
Divinity: Original sin 2 Ps4 -> 600.000 players

"OMG, ps4 must have poor sale standards!!!!!"

PS: Death stranding should be about a million now (700.000 on Steam alone first week, OP's article is incorrect)

Who is claiming Divity sold well on PS4? No one. It flopped going by those figures.

According to PC gamers on this thread 700,000 copies sold is pretty good and it solidifies Sonys decision to port to PC.

See the difference in standards?

You're missing the point mate. A game released on another platform year(s) after release will never sell nearly as much as it did during the official release window, so selling what it did is already good. It'd be really stupid to think the pc release, where loads of people already played the game and with no hype campaign behind it, would sell as much as the ps4 release.

Its free $30M for a 3yo game which they clearly didn't spent much money on porting. So yeah, it solidifies the decision alright.

LOL did you even read the article in the OP? It links to this one: -

It's not people in this thread saying it sold well, it's Sony themselves saying it: -.

In its latest corporate report published on Friday, the company said its games division would continue to aim to increase "active users and play time, enhancing network services and reinforcing content IP".

It added: "Targeted outcomes include growth in active users, stronger retention and a shorter cash conversion cycle, from which expanded cash flow can be expected.

"We will explore expanding our 1st party titles to the PC platform, in order to promote further growth in our profitability."

Different markets.

Consoles; massive marketing push. Games hyped to the extreme before release.
Very front loaded sales. Massive drop once the hype machine is turned off.

PC: Games release with little marketing push as there is no platform holder.
Sales grow over time per word of mouth, steam reviews and social media
Bugs are ironed out, review ratings improve. People upgrade their machines , game gets easier to run and plays better
Mods

All that equal more sales over time.

That's an easy 35 Million. They'll probably make the entire development budget on PC alone.

Bring on GOW.

In what world a port from an old game selling almost 3/4 of a million is not a success? Seriously...

I really don't understand why people get sore about PC ports. Is not taking away the experience for the console players. It's just expanding so more people can play it. We all win! I have a capable PC and as long as I can afford it I will but I will also have a console because it has it's place. Of course I will always prefer to play on PC but there are some games that are worth getting on console if the PC port is going to take a few months (for example Death Stranding) so there is really no threat for this.

Come on guys, look at the big picture. More platforms, more gamers, more sales, bigger budgets. It's a healthy industry.
