OP included "free" in the premise.what about slender: the arrival / outlast / ether one / gone home / among the sleep / amnesia ?
I haven't played any of them I just expected them to be in the OP as well. Or are they not as scary ?
Proud to say I've played about 85-90% of the games listed in here. Sadly though when you play enough of them they all sort of blend together after a while.
Some are true standouts though like "imscared" and "Which" because they do some different things. But the rest are all pretty standard fare in the indie horror scene. Same cheap scares everywhere.
P.T. was far more effective at selling its atmosphere and creeping me out probably due to the more AAA quality of it and having very realistic visuals is a great asset for horror games. It's one of the few horror games recently that had me on edge just walking around and not because I thought a jumpscare was coming like most others do to falsely inflate tension, but because I was just weirded out and didn't know what was going on
A spooky re-mention as we are getting ever closer to later nights and October horror month.
Hey Golem, I remember a retro-styled first-person indie horror game where you played as the murderer. You were basically running around a house killing people (your own family I believe). I only caught a glimpse of it once and now I can't remember what it was called. Any idea what game I'm talking about?
Jeez, I feel like I do, I might be thinking of something else but I'm thinking of a game where you're in a house, it had some retro graphics and had a Victorian style to it, and your goal is to kill your family and not let any escape or alert the authorities, but I can't for the life of me remember what it was called or if that's even what you're talking about.
