HOUSE MD Season 7 | OT | Huddy Discussion Thread

Maybe I just wasn't in the mood but I really didn't enjoy the last two episodes. [Watched them back to back] House is not very fun to watch when its super dramatic and serious. They need to lean more on the comedic aspects, IMO. Dramatic shows lose their drama after just a couple of seasons. But comedies last much longer, hell, the office has been better than ever lately.

It was an ok episode. Thought House's self surgery would lead to something more going into the finale. I think 13 was gone for too long, since she has been back her parts just seem odd. I don't care at all about them, and the character just seems off. Hopefully the finale ends up being good.

The following is a spoiler for House season 8 (and thus the season finale):
Lisa Edelstein did not renew her contract and will not appear on the show next season.

To anyone who isn't reading; I recommend you don't read TV news websites today :p

Hmmm interesting.
Without her around, I can imagine the last season sort of going crazy.

You actually bring up a point.
Wasn't there something early on about Cuddy preparing Masters for her job one day? Or was that someone else? I really don't remember, just remember some comment like this. Interesting return for masters for sure.

Edit:NVM I am thinking of when Cameron filled in for Cuddy, They had said something similar at that time.

Prediction for Season 8 (don't read if you haven't read spoilers):

House becomes the dean of medicine.

Hmm. Holy shit.

Wonder if this was a known factor when they shot the finale.

I think it's mostly pride for House. Amputation would symbolically mean "giving up," even if the pain does go away. Considering how reluctant he is to go the easy way out with his patients (he hates full body scans, for instance), imagine how much it'd take for him to give up trying to be "normal."

Also, I think the bigger pain would be trying to edit out Hugh Laurie's leg every episode or have him confined to a wheelchair!

Anyway, I enjoyed this last episode. I've been wanting to see some Chase/Thirteen interactions for awhile now so it's great they have some common ground to connect on. TBH, I almost forgot about the whole Dibala incident.

Holy shit the bathtub surgery was grim. Tv hasn't made me feel so uncomfortable in a while, and I watch an assload of crime/detective dramas.

I enjoyed house joking around with Cuddy's kid.

I really liked this episode. Easily one of the best this season.

And like a lot of others have said that bathtub scene was great. Very effective and I have seen a lot of shit. Good job for a TV show.

TL;DR - Execs wanted a paycut in negotiations.

Which she should have done. She probably doesn't have many options available right now. House was the only thing she had going on. Did she even do any acting before House? I don't remember ever seeing her in anything before it.

I'll always remember her from Sports Night, lol. She did say something about producing, so maybe that's what she's going to do.

Why do they put out press releases like this 1 week before the season is over? Couldn't they wait just 1 more week?

I wouldn't worry about it. I really doubt that it's any indication of what's going to happen in the finale. Her leaving was a last minute thing that happened in the contract negotiations. It wasn't anything that was planned. It's not like it's a sign that they're going to kill her off in the finale.

I remember her from Seinfeld.

This sucks. We're going to get some bullshit reason for her leaving too. I can't even just fathom just what house would have to do to for Cuddy to completely walk away from their crazy relationship. The only thing I can think of is House putting her daughter in danger, and I wouldn't buy that either.

On the plus side, if it's House to leave the hospital, and not Cuddy, we might be in for an interesting last season.

Exactly.
This was in no way a planned event, so I strongly doubt that the finale reflects this news at all. In fact, it's barely even worth spoiler tagging it, especially since the news is going to be absolutely everywhere. It's a huge entertainment story.

Aww sheeeit, season 8 is gonna suck now.

Or will it be the best season ever? House's relationship with Cuddy was the worst part of this season. It's a good thing that she's leaving.

I just the the abrupt nature of her leaving will lead to a BS explanation, unless they just go ahead and recast someone in her stead

Abrupt? She's spent seven years dealing with House in that hospital, she'll proabably like, "Fuck all this, I had enough".

Last episode was pretty intense, pumped for the finale.

She played a prostitute with a heart of gold in a couple West Wing episodes.

I agree with this. It made me ignore the show for a while. I'm slowly catching up.

Now that she is gone, I fully expect House to go completely crazy and kill himself in the end.

Regarding the current events and the preview:
I kind of wonder if the part showing Cuddy talking about a restraining order was just deceptively edited and it has nothing to do with House but instead Lucas Douglas. We haven't seen him in nearly a year, and I can't imagine he just disappeared amicably after their failed engagement.

Regarding big news:
If Cuddy isn't resolved in the finale, which I doubt... hopefully they at least bring her back for the first episode of S8 and give her a proper send-off...

Absolutely.
She can always guest star across the last season to wrap up her character arch a la Cameron.
People are freaking for no reason.

A couple of people on this page have said season 8 is the last. Is that confirmed, or am I just reading it wrong?

That's when Hugh Laurie's contract expires, and he's pretty much said in interviews that it would be.

Then again, Robert Sean Leonard said he probably wouldn't be back next year (he's already only filming one day a week or something like that), but he ended up renewing his contract.

The last episode was intense, quite possibly the best episode since the S6 opener.

Too bad so many actors are bailing out of the series. I guess this means a new election season coming up.

Enjoyed the episode, bathtub seen gave me chills. I liked the 13/Chase stuff too. Taub? Yawn. It does work for his character though.

Reading Spoilers.

HOLY SHIT WRYYYYYY?

Eh....
Lisa Edelstein has always come off as a drama queen to me. In the early seasons she was constantly vying for more attention and was pushing for Huddy to happen.

Here's an interesting tidbit I found on Hugh Laurie's Wikipedia page. Not sure if it's been brought up in this thread, but here you go:

Laurie has periodically struggled with severe clinical depression, and continues to receive regular treatment from a psychotherapist. He stated in an interview that he first concluded he had a problem while driving in a charity demolition derby in 1996, and realised that driving around explosive crashes caused him to be neither excited nor frightened (he said that he felt, in fact, bored).[2][4] "Boredom," he commented in an interview on Inside the Actors Studio, "is not an appropriate response to exploding cars."[2]

Sorta makes the whole "House looking for thrills" part of this season make a bit more sense. Seems as though Laurie himself has gone through something very similar.

Just read what Stumpokapow posted, I hate myself right now for reading that spoiler :/
