How can Sony possibly follow up E3 2015 and 2016?

Naughty Dog follow a very similar marketing pattern with every game. First tease in December then 1-2 E3 showings before release

If they don't show it again until E3 2018 then they aren't showing it again until it's almost ready for release

They don't look to be following that pattern this time. They pretty much admitted that they showed it a bit early IIRC. There's no hope in hell of that game releasing in 2018.

What is sucker punch doing. Haven't heard of them since second son.

Shinobi says new ip

Shu apparently played it almost two years ago. I'd say it's pretty far along.

Actually Sony E3 2017 could top everything:

- Spider Man first gameplay
- God of War story trailer or some epic boss fight gameplay
- The Last of Us Part2 first gameplay
- Death Stranding in-game footage
- Sucker Punch's new IP announcement
- Demons Souls Remastered or Bloodborne 2
- Until Dawn 2 announcement
- Devil May Cry 5 announcement
- Destiny 2 first gameplay
- Red Dead Redemption 2 first gameplay
- Battlefront II Singleplayer gameplay
- New COD first gameplay
- Final Fantasy VII Remake first gameplay
- Kingdom Hearts 3 story trailer
- Detroit story trailer
- Days Gone trailer
- Ni no Kuni 2 first gameplay

Etc.

They have the GOAT conference in their hands.
You know you just jinxed the conference, right? We'll get VR minigames and sales charts now.

Now is the time to follow up on those big announcements. Seeing some good shit from TLOU, Spiderman, FFVIIR, GoW, etc would get people more hyped than announcements of things 5 years away.

I was just about to post this lol

Honestly, Nintendo fucked up by not just announcing games that werent coming out soon

Companies literally can't win. If you don't announce super early, there's rage that you don't have any games, and if you do announce really early, then everyone trashes you for announcing games 2 years+ off.

- The Last of Us Part2 first gameplay

TLOU had been in development for 2.5 years before gameplay was shown, TLOU2 will only have been development for 1 year at the next E3. I can't see them showing it that early.

Sucker Punch and Studio Japan new ips should be there.

From Software new project is a good bet too.

3 first party titles announcements is already good enough for E3. They could bring some new partnerships too.

Also, we have some first gameplay trailers to come.

i cant wait to see what they gonna do this time.

what i hope

RDR2 first gameplay showing of the game, LIVE.
just to tells us its gonna be delayed till next year
GTS
Detroit release date for this year hopefully
bloodborne 2 reveal with the announcement of demons souls remaster in the meantime we wait
GOW more gameplay
TLOU P2 another bone to keep us hyped

I never thought they would get close to 2015 yet 2016's was awesome. All they need is to show gameplay of announced titles plus some new ones and I would be happy, something like Sucker Punch new IP, gameplay of Spider-Man and TLOU2 etc.

-Red Dead 2 gameplay trailer #1
-Dreams showcase, beta date
-SuckerPunch reveal
-Hot Shots Golf and Crash demos out today
-TLOU teaser trailer 2
-Demon Souls Remastered #buildingthelist
-Extended Final Fantasy VII remake gameplay(sorta like GOW last year.)
-God of War Trailer, coming in 2017, demo out today
-Shenmue 3, Ni No Kuni 2 gameplay, coming 2018
-Death Stranding teaser trailer 3, mayyybee super early gameplay if Koji is feeling froggy
-Spidey gameplay w/full title reveal

They've been working on it for 4 years! Must be (almost) finished or very far along. But kinda weird they haven't even announced it or even released a trailer/teaser in previous trade shows.
For comparisons sake GG were on horizon for 5 years as well. I think it'll be announced this year released in the next

There's an outside chance that they could announce it at E3 and release it later this year. It's unlikely but not outside the realms of possibility.

They need to have the same kind of conference as 2016, with as little talk as possible, and start with a bang. It will be difficult to be as original as the symphonic opening for the new GOW.

They need to focus on games, and show a good second half of 2017 lineup, as Microsoft will probably need to devote a good part of their conference on hardware and 2018 games.

I would like something like that, in this order

- Trailer for the Uncharted DLC, avail summer 2017
- First showing of the Spiderman game, avail early 2018 *** BANG
- New game from From Software, avail holiday 2017 *** BANG
- 3 minutes talk about PS4, PSVR
- 1 or 2 important VR titles (Ace Combat)
- Gran Turismo
- New trailer for GOW, 2018 *** BANG
- Indies moment
- Third-party japanese games segment, with a trailer for FF XII, DQ 11 *** BANG
- Dreams from MM, avail holiday 2017
- Destiny 2 trailer, beta TODAY *** BANG
- First showing of the next game from Sucker Punch Productions *** BANG
- Early gameplay for The Last of Us 2 *** BANG

No mention of Vita. :(

When planning for stuff like E3 and PSX, you are also planning for the following year's event. You have to think about what you don't need to show, so that it can be shown in the other events and not have too little "ammo" for your marketing.

I mean, according to rumours, there was a Horizon concept/CGi trailer that could had been shown at E3 2014 if Sony really wanted to announce that game early. But it didn't.

No mention of Vita. :(

PSX 2017, Gio got you fam.

Surely Horizon wasn't announced 5 years into development? I think Sucker Punch game is unprecedented for Sony.

It was announced at E3 2015, so 3 years or so into development.

They could show us nothing but trailers and gameplay demos of games we already know about and it'd still be a great show. Those motherfuckers have some goddamn games in the pipe.

2-3 new titles and gameplay of stuff that's already been announced

Sony's new big JRPG IP to rival Final Fantasy (switch with Marvel Musou if too unrealistic)
Monster Hunter: Western Appeal
Devil May Cry 5
gameplay of FF VIIr
gameplay of Shenmue 3
gameplay of God of War
gameplay of Detroit
gameplay of Spider-Man
one more thing: Knack 2 gameplay trailer that rivals Uncharted 2's helicopter chase/building collapse

- Days Gone trailer
- Ni no Kuni 2 first gameplay
- Gran Turismo Sports

Etc.

+ PSN name changes

1) Great Spiderman demo
2) Great God of War demo
3) New suckerpunch game with a gameplay demo
4) TLOU 2 gameplay demo
5) another new IP demo
6) Great Detroit demo
7) new Sony Japan IP / Bloodborne 2

*edit* ok basically just this list:

It's a new IP and almost assuredly a AAA game, so it's extremely unlikely and imo, would be a mistake.

New IPs need more marketing time than 4-5 months to seed people into the idea and concept, so that there can be attention, speculation and awareness building into a new product that no one is sure about.

Also releasing a new open-world IP in the same time frame as :

- Destiny 2
- RDR2
- SW Battlefront 2
- AssCreed Egypt
- etc

Is suicidal.
