How come no one is talking about how good Vahalla looks?

I thought it looked great as well and I'm enjoying my time with it. Its no black flag or origins, but its worth considering among the top tier AC games.

Honestly I haven't been too impressed by Valhalla's visuals. They are OK. I guess the dismal backwaters of old timey England have never looked better, but it all feels very samey after a while.

BTW, screen tearing looks to be completely gone in PS5 from today's 1.10 patch, at least based in my experience in the Jorvik level. Pre-patch, this level had non-stop tearing in the middle of the screen and it was pretty horrid. Worse than any other level. Post patch I have seen no screen tearing at all. I think the jump from 1.04 to 1.10 brought some really good performance improvements. Game is smooth as butter and doesn't tear. Good patch!

Unity still shits over any AC games that came after it.

Truth be told the last 3 AC games haven't been graphically impressive at all.
Dude! This is not true. ACV go poo poo time 💩 all over unity. Even character models. Maybe better looking hair and certainly more attractive women in Unity, but graphics. No

i'm on an LG C8. what tweaks did you use on the HDR settings? i'm at default and looks pretty good, but always have in the back of my mind "is this the BEST it can look"? :messenger_grinning_sweat:

I'm on the Sony X900H and a PS5 so it should look better for you. But I agree. For me I have to trade amazing looking daytime with a bit muddy nighttime or vice versa. Went for daytime and ok nighttime. As I don't have a oled I went with the Sony config of HDR but if you do make sure to go one step beyond visible.

Valhalla is a Witcher 3 and GOW plagiarized project, most are not impressed after playing those two games.

I played both and I'm hype for Valhalla. Witcher doesn't own having a game with horses and swords and God Of War doesn't own Norse mythology... That being said, this looks better then Witcher 3 (many open world games do, by miles).

I'll get it some time next year. I'd argue my like for those 2 games is why I'm even buying AC Valhalla.

Hayabusabruh Hayabusabruh I agree. I like how Unity looks, but AC Valhalla looks great too and its actually playable to boot. So no matter how great Unity looks, I can't really side with a game that has so many issues. I saw something online of people play it thru BC mode on next gen systems saying it works now lol

I won't mind a return to France for the next AC for them to give us what we should have gotten with Unity tbh.

yep I can confirm this as well

I have to admit I only give a crap about AC after cyberpunk. Ubisoft managed to create a trilogy within 6 years and is able to to keep their core fan base happy. Meanwhile CDPR release one game filled with bugs and near non existent AI after 5.5 years. Same goes for Bethesda, starfield is about to hit 6 year development time frame and I highly doubt they will really push the gameplay experience much.

It seems Ubisoft's Way of making games should be copied for more developers so they won't be stuck at development hell as often and gamers don't have to wait so long for a flawed experience to see how the story progress.

Ubisoft have mastered the ability to churn these mega games out. It's impressive, especially since I feel their games are equally as competent as what CDPR or Take 2 are able to do.

I guess the frequency of releases sort of waters them down a bit, but coming from someone who hasn't touched AC in years, Valhalla is a good surprise.

Btw, is it possible that Valhalla supports Dualsense now with the new patch?
I did not notice it before but now I feel it when shooting an arrow :messenger_grinning:

I LOVE Ubisoft. People seem to have a hate boner for their games but I look forward to the next Farcry and Creed games. This one is excellent. I raided a village and burned their homes. A fucker decided to do his chores while his house was on fire. I killed him. The game didnt like that I did that, but it was great.

Also, many seem to forget that Ubisoft made one of the best Nintendo Switch games in Kingdom Battle. They put as much love, attention, and effort into a Mario game than Nintendo. Shit, Fenyx Rising is Breath of the Wild but fun and with things to do. Woo!

I hope Ubisoft is looking at what Sucker Punch achieved with Ghost and figures out how to unbloat their open world games full of nothing side quests. Immortals was a step in the right direction but is still filled with tons of filler.

I'm playing through the game right now and enjoying it (GoT) but most of the map is filler. The haiku's are dumb, I don't want to chase the fox either. Pretty much the only thing fun to do gameplay wise is either liberate a base or climb a wall to find a charm. I mean don't get me wrong, I enjoy it but I can see myself putting the game down for a bit and coming back in a while.

You said fight me, so..

Hard to be impressed by this next gen version of a cross-gen game with "way freaking better" looking games in the past one.

Given how Ghost of Tsushima in still frames loses 70% of it's strength, i'd say you are the lucky one on this one.

What's up with all the sunshine pics or bright lights with this and OP pics. Am I supposed to be impressed with some washed out sun rays? Is that mandatory for good graphics?

It's not a bug, it's a feature :)

Some people like the huge games...I guess.

I do agree that I tend to enjoy a more focused game and length, but GoT was also filled with a lot of open world bloat. The games are very similar, but I enjoyed the combat/story a lot more in GoT, while I'm enjoying the exploration/loot more in AC:V

The LOD is "fine" on xsx in quality mode where it targets 30 FPS, but completely falls apart when trying to hit 60 FPS. Flickering, stuttering, awful pop in of every asset. It's awful.

Ps5 on the other hand is almost indistinguishable in quality and performance. And it tears much much less than the xsx version too. Even after the patch. All the face offs are not done far enough in the game. I'm comparing like 20 hours in (thank god for cross platform save, makes it easy)
Ok, i just watched the DF analysis against the PC version and i have to admit i exaggerated before, LOD at least on PS5 is nothing like what i saw in that NXGamer video, which in fact mostly shown SS and SX footage. And damn, the PS5 version in general is quite surprising running at basically all max settings and just for the price of a lower dynamic resolution and cloth physics animations displayed at lower frames, and that foliage density advantage makes it the version to pick regardless to me. Now i just hope i'll like the game..

Here your highness, as you command no sun in frame not even reflected in water, nor bright lights:

Yeah... so I'm on your side Ghost is freakin beautiful and at 60 frames on PS5 it's just... wow !

Valhalla just doesn't seem to look right in motion to me. Maybe some screenshots are okay but character movement and fighting, horse animations just don't live up to Ghost to me.

Because it mostly looks good in still images. The Animations, Facial Animations, World Interaction and real gameplay look (ie: UI, HUD, Player Actions, ect...) bring the entire presentation way down. It has it's moments, but I personally still think Unity looks better with much more impressive PBR, Object Detail, Crowd Density and more importantly Character Animation

All Assassin's Creed games have looked great. That's one thing Ubisoft cares about.
I'd say Assassin's Creed and Assassin's Creed: Unity are the only ones which truly looked great (meaning better than competition), rest have been good but nothing special. Anvil Engine always had awful LOD management even on PC, especially on the older titles, and ACII characters models were absolutely disgraceful for that time (i LOVE that game btw) and been subpar ever since, with the only exception of Unity.

Maybe some screenshots are okay but character movement and fighting, horse animations just don't live up to Ghost to me.
Of course, horse coat rendering, animations and handling in GoT are top notch, really the only horses i've been able to enjoy after playing RDR2.
Well, and TLoU2 i guess, big departure from previous gen were RDR horses stomped all over Uncharted 3 and TLoU horses.

new update added trigger suppor
Just in time, perfection.

Having just started Valhalla I don't think i'm fully ready to weigh in on this. That said, Ghost blew me away with it's color palate and art design. It will be a very high bar to clear. So far Valhalla looks good, and might have more in store, but it hasn't come close to topping Ghost for me....yet.

I love the side mission structure the best out of any open world. Not too much go bring me this. The quest usually take place where you find them. Did you play the one where you
have to burn down a couples house so they can get off on it?

Yup that very side mission nearly made me go into a coma from cringiness. Those side missions while they are quick they were written in a very bad way trying so hard to be funny.
