Or like even Lego Nintendo, throw all the iconic characters and maps in there, it just looks to me like such a missed opportunity, there is DC/Marvel/WB stuff, but no Nintendo at all? I know LEGO City Undercover was published by Nintendo on Wii U, so Nintendo and Travelers Tales worked together in the past and while it was pretty cool, I would love to see a LEGO game that uses Nintendo IPs.
Any thoughts why it didn't happen yet?

My guess is that Nintendo is picky with the IP - how things should look and work. Also wouldn’t surprise me if they want it to be something unique i.e. not just a platformer with a LEGO esthetic.

Looking at the Mario LEGO set the characters are unlike the regular LEGO style and they’ve gone for their own thing with a more interactive flare.

All the lego games currently out have a cookie cutter formula.
I don't think nintendo wants to go that route.
