How crappy is your daily commute?

1 hour drive because of traffic jams, otherwise 20 minutes. Bus would be a little bit faster as they have a seperate lane but I refuse to take it because I hate smelly people on the bus that make animal sounds. I rather sit an hour in my car in a traffic jam pumping my own tunes than sit 1 minute in a filled bus.

Unemployed but my journey to college used to be a total bitch.

45-60 minutes on a train crammed full of illiterate, cretinous, disrespectful 9-16 year old's, get off and then either walk from their (around a half hour walk) or get a bus.. Then repeat back except there would be even more inconsiderate fuckwits.

Lived for the days when my mate would occasionally borrow his mums car and give me a lift in

Takes about 30 minutes to go mostly freeway each way to my job, but that's because I work at night, which has ruined the rest of my life as a result of living at night.

10 minute walk to the bus station, an hour with the bus, three minutes with the metro and again a 10 minute walk to campus.

Feels bad man

Usually 50 minutes there, 20 minutes on the way back.
I come home during rush hour, so the train schedules are running waaaay faster then.

I'd say it's not so bad though. I've been reading lots of books thanks to my kindle.

Bus>train>train>4 minute walk.

Morning it takes 50-60min (leaving at 5:50am)

Evening takes 80-90 minutes (leaving anywhere from 3-5pm)

It used to be about 70-90 minutes, which included a 45 minute walk and around 30 minutes on a train (plus waiting sometimes).

Then I got a bike through the cycle-to-work scheme, and it's 30 minutes door-to-door. 6 miles each way. I should improve that time as I get fitter, I hope.

My commute is 10 minutes. My girlfriend's commute is 1 hour, each way. So she drives an average of 2 hours per day. Insane. She's had her new car for 6 months and it already has 12k miles on it

30 minutes-1 hour in Atlanta Traffic. That gap would be a lot wider if I was on the same roads going south in the morning and north in the evening. Atlanta traffic sucks.

Pretty lucky here, only a 30-min walk or 10/15 min commute via subway (and that's including a transfer). Gonna be rough in the winter, but better than others have it in this city.

I commute from hartford to springfield MA, its about a 40 mile drive each way.

Depending on traffic, i can do it in about an hour. But the miles add up quickly.

Not got too bad a commute, 5 mins walk to the bus stop, 20-30 minute bus ride, get off the bus and I'm pretty much there at my uni. It's damned awesome.

this week is going to suck for me, I have to travel to the Toronto Island airport from Brampton. It will take me about 1 hour 20 mins. I have to be there by 10 PM then drive back home at 6:00 AM

Bus = 40 minutes to 1 hour, or even more.
Car and subway = 30 minutes.

I really don't mind long commute, but it's crap if you have to take public transportation during rush hour, fully crowded, no seat available, a lot of stressed people.

It depends on when I leave. If I leave at 6:40 I usually get to school at 7:20 (by taking 3 buses) but if I leave at 8 I get there at 9:30 (10 minute walk and 2 buses).

I take public transport so I don't consider all of it to be lost time. Actually sometimes I like longer commutes :p

For me the maximum I could bear is up to 40 minutes each way. More than that and I would try to find another job or move.

20 minute bike ride right now, but I'm moving to the building next door at the end of the month. Then it'll be a two minute walk.

Around a 5 - 10 minute drive to the Metra, about 25 minutes taking the Metra from burbs to Chicago. Then a 20 minute walk to work about a mile from Union Station.

My new job is a 5 minute walk from Union which I start the end of the month. That 15 minutes saved will feel good, man. Especially in the Chicago winter

Not very good.

10 minute walk to train station in plenty of heat, usually.
15 minute train ride.
20 minute walk in plenty of heat and pollution, usually.

25-30 mins on an CTA (Chicago) express bus that picks me up on my corner and drops me off a block from work. Really pretty awesome. An hour or so a day to read, play 3DS or Vita, or unwind. Occasionally work if I have to.

Fifteen minutes on the bike plus an hour on the bus. My commute used to be a whole lot worse, so I'll take it.

Half an hour on the DC Red Line each way; I spend it reading.

It used to be 45 minutes, then 1h15, then 1h30 as my previous employer relocalized me a few times. Finally that last one was too long for me, so I quit and now I work downtown and it takes me 30 to 40 minutes.

As a music and podcast junkie, that chunk of time just breezes by for me.

Also, working downtown is the greatest thing ever when you don't have a car and you live in the city.

DEM RESTAURANT OPTIONS.

I live a couple of bus stops away from the local Underground station, however I catch a bus because it's quicker and easier since it's only one route. However that means I can only catch one bus out of the handful of buses that come to my bus stop.

Now there is a reason I mention the Underground station and that is because I have to compete for space on my bus with those getting the tube. Tube people are lazy and are not willing to walk to the station and thus will swarm like a flock of mindless sheep to the first bus that arrives at the bus stop is order to take the three stop journey to the station, a trip that takes about 10 minutes to walk.

The thing is there are THREE buses that end their route outside the station. Catching one of these buses would mean not disrupting the journey of those who want to go further than the station. But no. Lets jump on any old bus and prevent those who need the bus to wait for the next one. And the worst thing is when two buses come at once and they still go for the first one even if the one behind is one of the three they should be getting on.

Sorry, I had to get that off my chest.

Thank God my journey home is before the rush hour so the bus is relatively empty.

My commutes are a breeze.

But, I leave my home at 0500 and leave my office at 1400. Then I go home and work more.

I have office time only to miss traffic.

I've been having to give my g/f rides to her new job, which makes the whole process about a half hour. She doesn't drive, and it takes 3 buses to get from our apartment to her work (1.5 hours), so I have to do it. But we're moving to a place much closer to both our jobs in a few weeks, thank god.
