How dangerous is Australia really? India?

It's just a big Huntsman. He should've left it alone as they tend to eat all the annoying bugs and insects that can sometimes get into your house - moths, cockroaches, sometimes mice if they can find them. Geckos do the same thing, they just don't look as threatning.

There was a decently sized Huntsman once in my shower and I showered with it inside. It was still in there the next day so I had to let it crawl onto a piece of paper and put it outside in case it starved to death. I'm still not as hardcore as my old man, he used to let them crawl onto his hands and put them outside.

I realize it is not poisonous. The danger is heart attack.

WHAT. THE. FUCK.

Come to Australia!

EDIT:

India is one of the most dangerous places in the world, but not because of its flaura and fauna, but because of its political situation.

Australia is fine, things like snakebites and stuff are very rare, though if you do get bit, you are in deep trouble, as they don't really stock that many antidotes. If you are in the cities, you're probably fine unless you like to roll in wood piles. In the country you just have to take common sense measures, don't put your feet in shoes that are left outside without checking first and other such things. My cousin spends most of her time cleaning red backs out of her kids toys, but that is because she lives in a coal mining town. Anyone who comes to Australia shouldn't go to such places :P

To be honest you are more likely to die visiting Kings Cross or driving as far as I know.

People only rib on Tasmania cause they've never been there, or they are entirely clueless. Some of the best produce of food and beverages is created there.

Australia is only dangerous if you're an Indian.

lol

I saw a spider walking along my bathroom floor whilst taking my morning crap today. I let it go.

High five. Grew up in the Tamar valley.

Never played a banjo in all my life, too!

Drop bears are a serious problem. I hate it when Aussies downplay the threat that they pose to the unwary, encouraging the trolling that is their denial. Drop bear denial is a serious thing and can lead to the death of people who don't take them seriously.

In all my time in Australia I've seen redbacks, funnel-webs, brown-belly and red-belly blacksnakes, sharks, jelly-fish, crocs and sting-rays, but I've never been bitten or stung by a single one so take that as you will.

how many inter-married cousins?

Are you looking to broach the idea with one of your own? I'm all out of brochures, sadly.

Tell you what, though, you won't find a group of "inbreds" dining on finer foods, beer and wine than Tasmanians.

Really? I thought it was the complete opposite. I heard that Australia has excellent supplies of anti-venom. Isn't it mandatory for hospitals and GP clinics to carry it?

The fact that we're even discussing if any place on earth is deadly means its not worth it lol. I'll stick to the burbs, my sports sedan, comfy couch and alan wake.

You can keep your devil creatures.

Nah, I've traveled a bit.. and would love to visit Austrailia one day. Though perhaps I should bring a flamethrower just in case, right mate?

I could well be wrong lol. This was told to me by a guide in Kakadu who had the experience of being bitten. Apparently one of his friends had to be flown to Thailand to be treated? Happy to be proved wrong! Wouldn't mind if it wasn't the case that is for sure.

Also, save your snarky internet facepalms for a serious thread.
Yes, you started this as a joke thread.

Apologies if I insulted your wife. You don't want to know what the penalty for that is in Australia.

Insane!

Australia has a lot of poisonous, little things that can kill you. But not too many larger animals that are dangerous except crocs and sharks.

We don't have any large aggressive bears, except the drop bear, but they're small enough that you can normally (if you're a bigger guy) fight them off.

Oh, is that all.

oh yeah I encounter a load of dangerous beasts and venomous insects and snakes everyday. I pretty much need a machete everywhere i go to fend myself off and actually survive in australia

but seriously if you watch those kind of shows which exemplify on the negatives in one country then you're obviously going to get turned off by it. Born and raised in australia and i haven't experienced any animal mishaps

Suburban Brisbane here.
Dangerous fauna is both over rated and under rated depending on the media source of the day. For the most part, it's very safe. Having said that, there was a particularly nasty, angry Brown Snake at my kids school earlier this week.

i've lived in australia most of my life and never been bitten by a snake or spider. perception of the dangers in austraila is warped, but some of us like to perpetuate its mythology as a country of men hewn from stone and carved by a harsh country.

hence things like saxton hale, drop bears, wrestling crocs for sport and hoola-hoop snakes. we like to fuck with your heads.

The hell? I've lived my whole life (23 years as of now) in India and never felt unsafe. Sure the political situation isnt as stable as US or Western Europe, but its only as much unsafe as any other part of Asia. Actually, its safer than most parts of Asia I would say. WTH are you talking about?

Bombings and burnings, I think he means.

Which New York has too, PLUS crime.

Yeah, the attacks by terrorists that happen once in 2-3 years? LOL. That doesnt make India anywhere even close to one of the most dangerous places in the world.

Other than that, its just like any other country. Depending upon the area and city and state etc, your safety varies. But I dont think India is ever all that unsafe.

ItAintEasyBeinCheesy is from Aus so I think it is a dangerous place. Just look at his avatar. It's like he is saying "Come at me bro I will cut you up and leave you in the outback somewhere!"

I lived in India (Chennai to be exact) for three years. It's fine. The worst thing you'll probably see is a cow pulling a cart during traffic.

Oh and mosquitoes. Those are annoying.

Australia is fine. I've been bitten by two spiders and I've trodden on one lethal snake. In about twenty years, and bear in mind that I was running around in scrub and bush with bare feet and basically asking for bad shit to happen.

Never been to India, but living in Australia does not feel like a particularity dangerous experience to me. I am more worried about dying when I am in the US visiting family. Sure, we have a couple snakes and spiders to look out for, and drop bears, but if you stay out of the water, fatalities are incredibly rare.

Well I live in America and I have never been bitten, shot, or even seen a wild snake. Which is safer now?

America 1-0.

I am from Australia and spend a lot of time outdoors and at the beach.

number of deadly snakes I have seen in my lifetime: 50+

number of deadly spiders I have seen in my lifetime: 300+ (I once saw a dozen redbacks in one cupboard I cleaned out of my back shed)

number of deadly sea animals I have seen in my lifetime: 100+ (includes sharks, blue-ringed octopus, man-o-wars, and stingrays - heaps of stingrays)
Holy shit.

I'm just terrified of Spiders, even though most around here don't hurt you. Just fucking hate them.

Garden Snakes are okay.

Lived in Australia all my 35 years. Seen:

1 funnel web spider
2 brown snakes
1,000,000,000 red backs

That's about it for venomous creatures.

All of them were more scared of us than anything else. Except the funnel web. That fucker chased us out of the house
seriously
