How did those Wonderbook games turn out?

I had forgotten about this. That live demo was one of the most painful and awkward things I've ever seen at an E3 conference.

Saw the Detective one and a Dinosaur one the other day in my local shop. I am actually tempted to pick them up just to put them in storage and bring them out about 30 years from now. "This was gaming low point back in the early 2010s". =D

The best thing to come from Wonderbook.....

I've got all four games released so far, Book of Spells, Book of Potions, Diggs Nightcrawler and Walking with Dinosaurs. Diggs was really good, nice story and mechanics. The other ones are more of a follow my lead type game which is ok but not so much 'playing'

This is probably the biggest contender for "worst E3 segment that I have ever witnessed"

Looking back, E3 2012 was horrible when compared to the greatness of E3 2013, at least as far as Sony conferences are concerned.

I got a promo of both Book of Spells and Diggs Nightcrawler.

Tried playing them with my 7yr old boy.
Book of Spells was clunky, not very engaging and quickly discarded.
Diggs was actually pretty good. We played it straight through to the end. Design, music, VA, writing all better than expected. The tech worked as intended too.

I remember that E3. Jesus was that a shitshow. Now that I think of it most E3 conferences are pretty bad (from all companies). I wonder why.

Just watched some footage of kids playing Diggs Nightcrawler, and I don't get the hate.

Looks like a great product for young kids to have, and you can see the developers put their heart into it.

I understand the other games weren't as good, but what I saw of Diggs absolutely justifies the platform.

It is great for what it is. You can pick these up for cheap.... and I'm sure the younger kids would probably have their mind blown by them.... I know I would if I was 3-6 years old.

Diggs is an awesome use of it all. Originally Sony also claimed that Disney were in on the Wonderbook too, but heard nothing more of that. I'd imagine that as the Move works with the PS4 so would the Wonderbook, I'm secretly hoping they do some new stuff on there as the better camera resolution would make some things much more immersive.

If I were a father to young children, I'd be all over this, frankly. And even beyond that, this is the kind of innovation I want to see in gaming.

It performed poorly like everything else Sony tries to innovate with.
What makes me most sad about Nintendo stumbling this gen, and people calling for them to exit the home console business is companies like Sony won't be able to fill the same role. Not for lack of talent, but because their established audience won't let them...

I have it. Bought the first Harry Potter game for my girlfriend because she's nuts about that series.

The actual usage is decent. It's not super deep or anything, but it works, and works well. In fact, it has no business being that good. Sadly, Sony just abandoned it either due to their own lack of support or general lack of support from outside sources. Probably both.

It now sits beside my Move as "Cool Shit I Have But Has No Games". Damnit Sony, the Move worked like butter but you dropped it!
