so i came pretty close to against that rat-hippo monster by the starting area. on his way back up i got greedy going in close for a 2-handed attack but then it did some kind of backwards butt-slam...wtf..close.

then i made it to that area by the sea where there are some giant knights clad in rusted armor or something. i had my shield up moving in closer. the knight spotted me and started advancing. i moved in and began to strafe around trying to keep my distance but somehow i went right off the ledge even though i was trying to be careful...death by fear and drowning..fuck!

how fare you guys?

I punched the creatures that is right outside the house at the very start of the game. They didn't like that and ganged up on me.

Yep. I was intent on getting whatever goodies he was guarding. Gave up after getting killed five times. I came back later when I'd gone through the Forest of Fallen Giants and killed him, but it wasn't worth all that early suffering.

One of the most stupidly designed area of the game so far for me. It far far worse than horde of drengling in the Undead Church, because at least you could see the Channeler on the first floor and the drenglings from the entrance.

I was determined to kill the ogre-hippo in the starting area with my bare hands in case he would give special loot in that case. Gave up after dying maybe 10 times or so .

Came back and owned him as soon as I got my sword .

Forest of Fallen Giants, that place where two dudes are throwing firebombs down below where the beetle mace-dude is, you know? I went up there to kill them but ended up getting cornered. Retrospectively I am amazed I got that far without dying once (especially without having Estus och levelups, derp) considering I died a million times later on throughout the same areas. I think I was just playing super carefully the first time through, which I should probably do more of.

I made it a few dudes into Tower of Flame, up to the switch that lowers a drawbridge. I ran past a couple guys and didn't realize just how far they'd follow me so I got destroyed mid-switch-pull. Killed all dudes up to that point, goblin things and pigs and etc. I played DS1 but I was still surprised how far I got before dying.
