Unfortunately the only picture I could find but it gets the point across.
Yes? I never said they don't. I haven't yet met a petite girl who literally looks like a ten year old though, proportions in the body change as one matures and no, I'm not talking about breasts
Like one of the first things any introduction to illustrated character design is going to teach you is how to make characters look young with head, eye, and body proportions
Yes people have different body types
This is not a consistent 'chibi' style like Bravely Default. It's pandering to lolicons.
10 space bucks says the artist didn't even put as much thought as you guys are doing into the background for the dancer and just wanted to draw a cute girl in dancer garb.
They are exaggerated?
( also is an illustrator, taking character design, and game design amongst other things.)

Unless that thing on the bottom left is a dwarf.

Because all women with small chests are lolis.
Why do you think then that for one of their more exaggerated "young" looking designs they went with one of the more sexually suggestive designs? And don't feed me a line about "they just thought it looked good, its just a game man", if you are an illustrator then you know that more thought goes into a character design then "it just looks good"
oh my god why do you always spew hyperboleIt's trash.
That's why Persona Q looks like shit. I can't stand it.
I feel like the body type thing is becoming a crutch to avoid discussion of the fact that in a creative work everything is the result of a decision by the creator.
And the creators just threw darts and decided that the one that was the most sexual was also one of the ones who would look youngest huh? Just in the name of realism, nothing more on their mind then being representative
Its not even really about the body, its about the body and the head, and the relationship between them that is like "age communication 101"
You guys are obsessed with flat chests. Not once did I mention it or suggest it was my beef with the designs. If if was the artists intention to portray all the characters as adults he failed miserably.

Or in his head women are just incredibly short.
But there are older looking and taller females too.Well it's aimed for Japan, I follow the artist a lot and the girls he draws are always short.

Anyway, it's still a good series which I do enjoy playing. But being from japan should pretty much prove that they're little girls.

Yeah, if there's still time here to actually talk about the topic at hand. I do like that Chibi sort of style, it can be playful and fun. Puzzle & Pocket Fighter are rad as all hell. I think the art style of Persona Q is rad as hell. I'm fine with Bravery Default's style because it reminds me of PSX era Squaresoft.i think persona q and bravely default look cute as hell.
This is Etna all over again right? Well I can assure it was the artists intention that they are not adults. Millennium Girl makes that pretty clear no? Now why are you insisting otherwise? Also why don't you apply your expert knowledge of Asia to the male designs.Well, how tall does a woman you consider here. In Asia, the normal height of woman is around 146+-to 160. There are some tall one too but not as many as in the west. And about height, how do you know the girl is tall or not here? I see that knight girl to be at least 160+ along with Dalla the innkeeper while I do can see the magic girl and dancing girl on shorter end.
Also one more thing. Since when does height is considered as mature signs?

Shoujo/girl is not something you'd call an adult woman(referring to the title)Mmmm? What does Millenium Girl makes clear here? That they had some characters with name that is young? While they also had other character who are on older side just like other EO series.
And about my knowledge of Asia,I can said what I said is mostly true as I am an Asian myself lol and I had seen it applied there to some of the males. For example, one of the dancer with black hair there looks close to some Bollywood dancers.
And this is not Etna case at all. In Etna case, the developers purposely explained about her age, circumstances to support the reason why she is in that condition.
This however is different in EO. No one tell us how old are they. No info at all. It is simply a blank sheet which we can insert the info based on our own imagination. Which is why I said, depend on each views, we can have different answer.
Yuji Himukai likes drawing little girls. His designs reflect this sensibility, and this is naturally going to bother some people. EO isn't awful about this outside of a few outliers, but the female designs are 'loli.' They are diminutive, half the size of the male characters, and trying to excuse this by saying it's just the body type or whatever feels like people are dodging the question entirely. They look young. They are meant to look young. It's not just because they're 'short.'

the artists intent is pretty clear. He likes drawing young girls.
To bring things back around again I'm fine with the style in Bravely Default. It doesn't do a whole lot for me, but its very similar to the style they went for in the FFIII remake where they were almost trying to do a modern version of the classic artstyle.
With that said, the bikini and bunny suit stuff is weird. To my knowledge there's no context for it in the game (I don't think they even bother to try and have a "beach scene") so its clearly meant to titilate, but the figure is so deformed that I can't picture anyone enjoying it that way either. It honestly makes me wonder if its almost meant to be some kind of parody or something making fun of the famous Fire Emblem DLC

it's there to sell the drama cd or whatever it's a bonus for
Yes, but how? Fan-service usually has something about it that can be construed as, well, sexy. Is there anyone out there who would actually have that reaction to this?

Like I said, I just find it weird.
Sums it up for me.I didn't mind them or rather don't mind it in 2d titles but in 3d the proportions always seem out of whack to me in a way that really doesn't add personality. Don't really care for it.
