How Do You Take Your Cats?

Gaming news has always been a fantastic element to my obsession with gaming. Correction, it is my obsession with gaming. Like a lot of you between work and married life I have a pretty limited schedule in terms of how much time I can invest in actual gaming. What I do have time for, and in truth probably love more than gaming, is gaming news. I love the youth of the industry, the movement, the quickness and the unguarded public relations fopauxs that grace my RSS every week. Its absolutely fantastic to observe and think 'where is this industry headed'.

So that's me.

About six months ago I stared a web site called (shouldn't have put a site name - my mistake). The idea is pretty simple. I get feeds from about thirty sources and sort the news into groups (I call them pails to be cute). Big deal right? Well, the effect is, in my opinion, pretty cool. I'm really only as slow as the fastest site a grab from. Meaning, as soon as say Evil Avatar posts something on their page I see it. Maybe it's old news maybe it's new news. If it's new I know they are first in the network of sites I am grabbing from.

The side effect is it gives me a fun opportunity to personally keep up with the news. I read a lot of articles I would have never read previously and have found some great sites in the process. I feel like I understand the gaming industry better than ever before because I see everything that comes through in a very linear way.

So that's my site.

The problem is when gamers come to my site (and I have seen this first hand) they just don't get it. 'What's not to get?' is what I think. It's just a headline. You click on a headline and you see all the sources that have reported the story. Like GameSpot's reporting style more than IGN? Click GameSpot! But they just don't get it. Something is missing. Getting it 'first' isn't enough. Getting it 'all' isn't enough.

So that's my problem.

So how do you take your news? And more importantly, why do you love your news in the medium you take it? Do you love NeoGAF's delivery of threads from other gamers like yourself (I would hope so since you are here! :) ). Is it blogs like Opposable Thumbs, Kotaku and Destructiod? Is it editorial writeups like Next Generation, GameIndustry.biz or N'Gai Croal? Or do you just like it delivered to you haphazardly via a Digg Gaming Feed?

As I write this post I think about how hard it is to quantify the 'why' portion of my question. Why do I like my coffee with cream? Well, because I hate it with sugar or straight up black. However, if you can quantify it I would love to know. I think for other gaming news lovers out there it's a fascinating question.

And that's (finally) my question.

Kind Regards,

Must be a filthy filthy website :lol

It went to Penthouse.com.... I think a joke on sp0rsks' behalf but not really a good idea...

Four posts, three of them having to do with getting your site going or promoting your site. You should probably try being an active member of this community before trying to sell us your shinola. It works better.

My mistake for putting in my URL - I'm really thought this would be the best place to ask everyone's opinion. I even posted this in off topic seeing my question is really about news and not about games.

Haha, probably. I guess I never posted here before due to the fear of this exact situation. I just wanted to pose a question and I was eaten alive. :lol
