How does Greek sound to you?

I always know I am in Greece when I walk into the airport and I see scores of people with a cigarette in one hand and a cell phone yelling malaka every 5-10 seconds.

It's almost calming every visit. I was born in the states, but I would def. like to retire there. My family owns a lot of property so I am pretty much set.

Greek's not a romance language...unless you just meant spanish and italian?

Yeah, Spanish and Italian.. What I meant by that is that Greek shares a history with them.

I think what makes Greek so fascinating is the amount of preserved history behind not only its country but also the language itself. It's been around all the way back to BC, granted this was a different earlier form but still. It's fascinating.

I speak Turkish and work for a Greek family. They sound nothing alike apart from the occasional shared word here and there, but that's probably due to my Turkish being Cypriot Turkish, or Farmer's Turkish -_-

Edit: Nevermind.
