How does It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia have no Emmys?

If my perspective is anything of value, I think that Sunny was best early on (like first few seasons), and when it got big, it got a little bit less fun. I felt it got too mean later on.

It's crude and abrasive, the characters are sociopaths, and it doesn't have any kind of underlying message or heart. I don't think the Emmy judges go in for that kind of show.

Top 10, maybe top 5, of all time comedys

It doesn't need an Emmys. When BBT wins them you wouldn't want to be in the same company

Because Hollywood is full of rich pretentious asshats that would never appreciate ASIP's humor or even if they did they would never admit it.

Also don't think for a moment that shows/movies are being awarded for their quality, it has more to do with lobbying and how much Hollywood would self-congratulate itself if they awarded that movie/show.

Just finshed re-watching "The Gang Gets Quarantined" and how they gangs finds out they are all alcoholics. It great story telling so shameful this show has no Emmys.

Because it's a relatively small show with modest goals, even if it's consistently great. It doesn't function as a prestige piece and isn't glossy or a blockbuster knockout. These awards shows aren't just popularity contests. They reward commercial outlay and success, productions that generate a lot of jobs and ROI and generate good press and buzz for the business.

Sunny is fantastic and funny as hell, but it's antisocial, cynical, and offensive. I would never want it to change.

Comedy, especially raunchy comedy, comedy that isn't necessarily 'safe' rarely wins the awards or accolades, even though Sunny has been consistent for almost a decade now. No show is funnier to me, and it's crazy how I still laugh. I was just watching bloopers two days ago and cracking up.

How has Danny Devito not win an emmy yet, dude is great on this show.

my flatmate introduced me to it about 2 months ago and i've gone through the entire 10 seasons on netflix in that time. incredible show, unbelievably funny at times.

disagree with the idea that the show slumped around the middle. for me it was consistently good, with only a few episodes here and there that weren't exactly on par with the rest (but still funny in there own right - frank's brother episode still got some good chuckles out of me for example). season 6 may have been my favourite season in fact - the gang buys a boat, who got dee pregnant?, the gang gets stranded in the woods, dee gives birth, and a very sunny christmas are all fucking classics.

will probably do a lttp thread in a little while. very excited to see season 11.

Here's what I think.

This show switches from being amazing to irritating pretty quickly, it has some of the funniest scenes I've ever seen (Dee's stand up attempt comes to mind) but I can't watch more than two episodes at a time.

if Dee and Dennis go on welfare doesnt get them an emmy nothing will

but yes i think the show should be awarded in at least the writing / producing , Rickety Cricket who is also the producer is amazing haha.
