How exactly does Cici's Pizza make money?

I've never even seen a Cici's Pizza before. I've heard of them, I've seen commercials("You're a line-jumper!"), but I've never seen an actual location myself. Kind of thought they were akin to a myth.

People have pretty much forgotten about Pizza Hut. They need to update their restaurants.

It's like time traveling back to 1991 when you go inside of one.
Good times, good times.

They've updated quite a few around me, I still miss the old shit colored brick look.

On topic, making a good pizza can be done relatively cheap and even if you use 00 Flour you can still make 3 pies worth of dough for about 4 bucks. Cici's uses fake cheese and I'd venture a guess that they use shit meat. Also booze makes a killing in the restaurant industry.

So many people in this thread are trashing on Little Ceasars but I actually like their pizza. I guess my taste in pizza is that bad, eh?

When I was a kid, Little Caesars was a "treat" for my family on rare occasions. I still like it as a result.

Pizza Hut is the biggest pizza place in the country still...

Here in California we have a place called John's Incredible Pizza. It's basically the same concept. It's a little more expensive than Cici's. But they have a larger locations with full on arcades, claw machines, air hockey tables. etc. I think there is a location that even has a indoor kart racing circuit.

They have some unique pizza such as Spicy Peanut Butter Pizza, Alfredo Pizza, Macaroni and Cheese, and Cheeseburger.

I think you can even have the custom make a pizza if you want at no charge. They also have soup and salad bar.

Sadly the one and only time I ate there I hated it. The pizza was shitacular. It was decent to fill up on but it was generally gross. Everything is sub par and not worth the price of entry.

But to be fair I am not a fan of pizza.

Ours went out of business. It was always filled with high school kids who would order their own pizzas. Why get allowed hat I don't know.

It was better than Little Ceasars.

CiCi's cinnamon roll's and desert pizzas are amazing. The pizza itself isn't the best, but I'd still prefer it over Little Ceasers.

At least it's not Papa John's, I've gotten food poisoning twice from them. Never again.

Yeah, my parents usually got us Little Ceasars too so I guess I don't mind it. I'd say that having a taste tolerance for cheaper food is a good thing though.

For those of you that don't know, Cici's Pizza is a pizza buffet joint with a salad bar, tons of pizza, desserts, and soup. You can eat as much as you want for $4.99. I had a coupon for a free adult buffet, so the GF and I got to eat there for $2.50 a piece.

Yeah I feel like shit now, but it's really not that bad. The pizza is Little Ceaser-quality. The cinnamon rolls are actually really good, worth the price of admission alone. But shit... how does the place operate? Am I eating dog food disguised as pizza?

Minimum wage workers.
Bare minimum of quality standards for ingredients.

they've invested heavily in sewage waste containment so anything you eat makes its way into their pocket

Funny thing is most people don't know a lot of Pizza Huts have a lunch buffet.

Not a lot locations have them anymore from what I can tell. Maybe because alot of the sit down locations have closed down.

The KFC buffet is a rare sight as well it would seem.

I worked at an on-campus dining hall at my state university while in school.

At night, students could swipe their meal card twice in order to purchase a large, 12" pizza.

One night while reviewing the shipment order and their costs, I did some math. One pizza basically cost the school $3 and some change in raw product. A meal "swipe" was equivalent to (on the plan with the best deal) $12. So $24 for the pizza. Basically, the school was making $20 per pizza sold.

We'd sell 200+ a night, easy. Sometimes double that.

Crazy. And yet my tuition went up every single year.

I really do not like any buffet. I definitely believe in quality over quantity when it comes to food. There was a Chinese buffet in my town that had pretty good egg rolls and sushi, but they're not open anymore and the other Chinese buffets in my town are not very good at all.

Never got to try Cici's. Ran into the infamous food poisoned friend, and that led me to never bother with them.

Shitloads of people seem to get sick eating their garbage.

Because it's fucking garbage masqueraded as food.

My worst bout of food poisoning EVER was from Cici's. The one near by closed down and they fucking deserved it.

I'd rather have Little Caesars or Papa Johns over that garbage.
Woah, no need to generalize from one bad experience.

Didn't know this place existed until I saw this thread. Gonna have dinner there tonight. I'll let you guys know if I get food poisoning or not.

It's easy.

Guess who's in the burger pizza?

(Seriously, you probably don't want to know. Nobody's going to sell you unlimited pizza for $5 without cutting corners *somewhere*...)

Little Caesers isn't great, but it is nowhere near as bad as most of CiCi's pizza. Some of their specialty pizzas are good, and their desert pizza is usually pretty good. The pizzas are extremely thing and crappy though, so it isn't like they cost that much. Most people probably won't eat nearly enough to cause them to lose money based off the entry price. Plus drink costs are separate.

I love Cici's. It may be cheap and not the best pizza ever, but it's about like any buffet. It's good for when you are really hungry and it's more about the quantity. This is especially good for young people in college like I did. I personally have really liked a lot of their pizza's as well and the cinnamon rolls are amazing. Definitely a good cheap dinner after a long day of not eating much.

I never forget! It's just at a short and inconvenient time. :(

The worse pizza I had was Dominos, so tasteless. I almost asked for my money back.
New Dominos or old Dominos? The new stuff is reasonably tasty for its asking price.

I don't get it... is Papa Johns supposed to be shit, or are people pouring it on because of the owner's political leanings?
No clue, but in terms of chains, I love Papa Johns. Extra cheeze + garlic butter sauce = mmmm.

they barely put cheese or toppings on their pizza. you're basically eating pure flour. i doubt they even lose $.50c per customer in ingredients.

New Dominos, with their shitty order tracker.

The economics of buffets are pretty easy to understand, really. Preparing many dishes in bulk and letting people pick and choose between them is much, much more efficient than taking specific orders and preparing everything as single portions.

Granted, there's certainly some buffets where the wealth of choice and variety definitely makes you scratch your head as to how they can come out ahead.

Cici's, though, is on the exact opposite end of that spectrum. They make 8 low-quality pizzas that are identical aside from toppings, simmer a vat of pasta and sub-Chef Boyardee-grade tomato sauce, and make some brownies. Not exactly a varied, luxuriant spread.

i basically just eat a combination of the mac n cheese pizza and buffalo chicken when i go. so cheap and deliciously trashy. the best food for when you're feeling self destructive
