How Far Rainbow Six: Siege Has Come (Super Bunnyhop)

Great for him to revisit it like this. Siege was amazing on release too, and people who played it spread the word and now after a year it's being recognized for it's great design and dev team that has kept it fresh for a year and will continue for another. Super Bunnyhop was one of few critics that actually put time into the game and was positive about it on release, the rest of the critical sphere was generally just focusing on it being online-only and 'full of microtransactions' with a good dose of 'it'll be dead in a few weeks' (lol).

Siege is the best multiplayer game of the generation, and that's saying a lot when there is such strong contenders out there like Overwatch and BF1. It's probably the best mp shooter I've played since the mid 2000s.

How is this if you don't want to play with a mic? I'm mostly play at night when the wife and baby sleeps.

I'm on Xbox and go fine solo without a mic most of the time, even ranked. Obviously you'll do better if you're communicating with your team, though.

As an old school fan of SWAT 4, which relied on AI enemies, Siege always strikes me as a game I'd be completely in love with and obsessed with

if I had a regular group to play with. It does not seem like the kind of game to play with randos.

Kind of regret grabbing this on Xbox. Should have gone with pc. I have always preferred shooters on console, but the aim assist in this feels so off compared to cod/bf/halo. I'm not amazing with mouse and keyboard, but R6 console feels like I've had one too many beers when I'm aiming.

There is no aim assist in MP.

Picked it up at launch and really enjoyed the little bit I played. Just picked up some copies for friends as gifts for the holidays and we can't play together. Error 2-x0000E000
Read up on it and it's been an issue for a long time.
Glad the game has received support from ubi from a content perspective but connectivity shouldn't be an issue for anyone in a mp only game.

The engine this game is built on is terrible. It's not built for a service game which ubi is trying to position it as. They've been great with content updates but pretty bad with bugs etc. Pretty sure they had to disable the new operator on PS 4 for a couple of days because some bug.

If they were in it for the long haul they would give it a complete overhaul but I think ubi are content with great word of mouth carrying it with a small team adding updates and milking off the skins.

The lack of single player proves that they still have far to go.

It's a multiplayer game. It doesn't need a shitty singleplayer component. Does Overwatch, a game that was just declared GOTY 2016 at The Game Awards, still have far to go because there isn't any boring singleplayer content in it yet?

I was talking to my friends about it before I picked it up for them. Was all hyped up and then they get it installed, and error. It was just a huge let down. Later today I'll see if I can reconfigure my router to attempt to resolve it so we can hunt some froggy terrys.

This games success is the only thing leaving a glimmer of hope that Sony might see the light and bring back socom. Tactical shooters are where it's at!

Love me some George, but question for players, is the community anomaly actually like what he said? Anyone have any similar or different experiences?

Loved tac shooters and the old school R6 games like Rogue Spear and Raven Shield, but have no interest in a mp only game.

Sucks that all the tactical stuff these days seems to be mp focused only (Red Orchestra/Rising Storm,Insurgency, newer Arma games)

I do realize it's a lot cheaper & easier to make a mp game and it's a pretty niche genre in the first place. So in today's climate regarding the video game industry, they prob look at it like it's just not worth it and won't get them enough sales to make up the difference.

They just don't make sp campaigns like Cold War Crisis/Resistance, Hidden & Dangerous 2... anymore.

Siege has the most replayable multiplayer of any game I've played in years. I also play Overwatch and Titanfall 2 right now. I'm not picking an overall winner or anything, but the Siege matches play out wildly differently on the same maps every time due to the mechanics which is extremely impressive. I'm hooked.

Nah. I was in this camp at the beginning too, but the game doesn't need it.

What it does need though, is a serious buff to Terrorist Hunt.

Yeah, I don't really care about a single player mode but I need a good terrorist hunt. Just design it so that no one spawns in out of nowhere. Really stinks to clear out an area and get shot from a location that shouldn't have been occupied.

The game is the best-designed team-based shooter available and it definitely has all the single player options it really needs if we're never going to see the return of older R6 AI teammates and the planning phase. I'm not sure why it would be better with a traditional SP campaign, anyway. R6S is probably something like what CS might have been by now if Valve had been more interested in allowing the property to really stretch out in an ambitious way over the years. Much better than its negative reputation paints it.

Watched this earlier. Made me want to play the game.

Do it. Doooooo it.

Seriously, as someone who is not a huge fan of multiplayer games, and particularly multiplayer only games, this is one of the most rewarding, addicting, and pure fun multiplayer shooters I've ever experienced. The fact that it also has a heavy focus on teamwork and tactics makes it even better in my opinion as that category is fairly lacking

I had my hesitations about it living up to the R6 legacy, but it does it well

The developers have also been crazy attentive to tweaking the game, patching it, and listening to feedback about adjustments.

I've been playing Terrorist Hunt ever since I got it on PC.
But even on T-hunt I've been running into lots of toxic behavior that turned me off of trying the competitive because I can't imagine how much worse it is. I've had players go "who's the fucking idiot who didn't grab their armor?!" screaming at the top of their lungs. I've had cheaters lose their shit for being called out on it.

I dunno, just a complete turn off that nearly put me off the game entirely.

The cheaters thing is what turned me off a few months ago. Invisible trip things, guys getting out of the map and being able to see/shoot through upper floors/walls, other oddities. Ran into a few people being toxic/shitty, but I think that's in every game series these days sadly.

That being said- when things were even, it was very fun (even in losing!).

It is amazing that the game is still doing so well after all the issues we have gone through. I hope they keep it up. I have somewhat moved on to other games right now but I have over 250 hours in it. They created a truly great experience and I hope they keep it fresh.

After watching the video I'm a little intimidated about finally playing online. I feel like learning tactics/maps is going to be a lot of rounds of letting my team down lol

Just play a lot of casual. You'll the hang of it. It's worth it. Been playing since day 1 and play everday.

Did they ever put in a simple TDM, I liked the game but sometimes just wanted to go straight TDM instead of the tactical game mode

I thought the beta was a total travesty and wrote the game off, but I downloaded it on the last free weekend for shits and giggles and ended up loving it. Don't know exactly what they've done since launch but it's working for them, me and all my friends picked up the gold edition while it was on sale.

Also as an aside I haven't run in to much toxicity, at least in casual. The few times someone on my team has started to act like an ass I usually just mag dump into their back. It's not the most constructive way to handle it, but definitely the most amusing.

The lack of single player proves that they still have far to go.
Nah.

do what i do and auto mute every random in every game

I tried the free weekend. Too many team killers. Wish they would get banned but dudes just start matches many shooting teammates. Not fun when it's like 5 min setup each match and u start at 7 hp.

It`s the first game in the Rainbow Six series without single player.
