How has no one murdered Sheldon Cooper yet?

Sheldon has probably grown the most. Originally he was was written as completely asexual. Now he's in a relationship and has displayed affection towards Amy quite often.

His relationship with Penny has also changed quite a bit.

Of course TBBT characters have a basis in reality, what makes you think otherwise? Moreso than ITC characters if anything, because ITC relies on downright absurd situations that are typical of British humor but are just ridiculously unrealistic (which is not necessarily a bad thing, mind you, I like ITC). In TBBT, you got everyday situations.

To me, Sheldon is not unlike some of the more jaded haughty hardcore-gamer-type nerds you can find on forums like NeoGAF. Wanna-be womanizer Howard and nice-and-annoying Leonard are two variations on the nerds in fedoras thread that's so popular right now on OT. Raj is the shy nerd who can't talk to women for shit, only in his case he literally can't talk to them. Penny is the pretty girl who can't get her shit together. Sure, their traits are exaggerated (too much so in some episodes), but then if comedy can't work unless people's faults aren't blown out of proportion we're in trouble. At their core, the characters are believable.
One of them goes to space.

I see nothing wrong with that scene.

Oh wait, you're gonna tell me it's unfunny, so how are all those people laughing?!

Why are they laughing at "windows 7". I could see ppl laughing at the punchline, but every line that comes out of the character mouth somehow pumps out laughter. Entire show is full of it.

I don't know, I wasn't in the studio. But why is that even an issue?

I'm sure someone posted it but how the fuck do people even watch this?

"My new computer comes with Windows 7"

I can't stand the laugh track in this show. I mean, I hate shows that do it with the sole exception of How I Met your Mother which actually has a laugh track for the punchline, but in this show the laugh track is constant. Too annoying and distracting

I think by now you could rename the series to "The Sheldon show"

Every episode I've seen evolved around him.

I don't really have any major antipathy for BBT. I'll watch the show and laugh at it. My comedy tastes are really wide ranging. I really enjoy King of Queens but I also adore Mr Show, the Comedy Bang Bang podcast and tv show, and anything Jason Mantzoukas/Andy Daly does. But the one thing I hate about any comedy is when characters are just too clever for their own good. How I Met Your Mother is an excellent example of this. Every line in that show is one clever quip after another. Everyone has a clever comeback, quip, or description of things. I just feel like no one would talk like that in real life. It takes me completely out of the show

Its weird seeing people treat this show as if it were a gritty drama. Taking real life and magnifying it to absurdity is a part of humor. People need to relax or just not watch TV. Or if they do then don't complain about it on the internet.

Watch the 40 minute blooper reel from TBBT on Youtube sometime, the show clearly has a live audience that is very responsive to the show. In fact, many times the audience laughing at strange or odd things caused the bloopers from the cast. The girl who plays Penny seems to have a habit of yelling at them, lol.

In fact, the blooper reel is rather entertaining. It's almost better than the actual show, seeing the actors go in and out of character adds a lot to it.

The hell, I always thought it was all fake. Maybe I can watch it again knowing its not lol.

well yeah of course its the same voice >_>

stark difference in accent though. how he talks in that interview is not how he talks on the show.

There's not that much of a difference, and any that exists is explained by the fact that Rajesh is Indian born and raised, while Kunal Nayyar's background has a touch more mobility.

well i still think there's a big difference. but even putting that aside, what about the other things like him being still the only single one of the group, or how he still can't talk to women without alcohol despite his friends knowing he can.

i'm also trying to understand why anyone (like the 'live audience') would laugh at the "you're a slave" remark Sheldon made at the black guidance counsellor. or when he says women are inferior and victims of their sexual desires. it wasn't a 'bazinga' or sarcastic moment for the character, it's actually what he believes. did anyone here really laugh at that?

Yeah, uncomfortable awkward dialogue in a comedy. Never seen that before.

oh are you just going to be making sarcastic remarks now instead of providing a valid rebuttal? you don't think it was sexist and in poor taste? the character didn't even face any repercussions for his actions, instead getting his female assistant (who he harassed), to take his harassment course for him. so funny! not. >_>

You know, people always mention the Windows 7 part, why? It's not thaaaaat awful.

As a fan of the show, the bit of dialogue that never fails to make me cringe is the episode with Dennis Kim, the korean boy. When they're walking down the hallway. Now that part is absolutely terrible.

That is a rebuttal. They aren't making a PSA.

Sheldon being asexual breaks the canon of the pilot. In the first five minutes, Leonard cracks a masurbation joke at Sheldon's expense, a joke Sheldon grudgingly admits there is truth to.

And you were complaining about terrible rebuttals. Why are you watching shows you hate again?

i don't watch it. i just decided to watch the last episode so see if it got any better because there seems to be many fans.

Here’s a piece of dialogue from the Season 5 opener. Penny (White woman) got drunk with Raj (Indian man), and they passed out and woke up in his bed. It should be noted that they’ve been friends for the last four years. She thinks they may have slept together, and confides in her friend Bernadette (White woman)

Amy: Do you know the story of Catherine the Great?

Penny: No

Amy: She ruled Russia in the 1700’s and one night when she was feeling particularly randy she used an intricate system of pulleys to have intimate relations with a horse.

Penny: I’m sorry, what does this have to do with me?

Amy: She engaged in inter-species hanky panky and people still call her great. I’m sure your reputation can survive you shagging a little Indian boy.

Do you see what’s wrong there (aside from the historical inaccuracy, Queen Catherine didn’t actually fuck horses)? Hint: they compared bestiality to “shagging a little Indian boy.”

that's funny? really now?
