How is Hellblade 2? I enjoyed Hellblade 1, but have been hesitant to get this

Would you recommend it? The opinions I've seen say it is even more cinematic based than the first and the opinions of some friends I trust said they were disappointed in it and it didn't quite capture the spirit of the first Hellblade. But the reviews are pretty strong, so maybe those are outlier opinions and most people like it. The Deluxe is on sale on PSN for 50% off, but not sure if I should wait for lower.

I enjoyed Hellblade 1. It wasn't my favorite game ever, but I enjoyed it. I loved the soundtrack, and I thought the gameplay was pretty simple, so I thought that aspect of it was just ok, but the game made me feel something. However, I also got the game brand new for like 10 bucks so I think that factored into my feelings on it as well. I'm usually not into games that aren't as gameplay based.

While It's a absolute mastercraft visual feast, It offers a limited experience the story and gameplay wise. Even weaker than the first game. But you won't be disappointed unless you expect too much improvement.

I'd love it if someone could pull up the post. A long time ago someone mimicked the inner monologue on here in a hilarious post, wish I'd bookmarked it.

I loved it. Visual masterpiece. If you have any interest in gaming visuals at all its a must play.

Also, the combat clicked for me because it was visceral as FUCK.

There's nothing else like it. One long combat sequence in particular had my fucking jaw on the floor.

It's not a game, it's more of a visual experience.

Dont go in expecting a video gamey ass game.

Everyone who hated it went in expecting goddamn Ninja Gaiden or something. Dont do that.

In short, if you enjoyed the 1st one, yeah. It's an experience and yeah, visually a masterpiece, I think it's worth it just for this.

Don't fall for the bad word of mouth or listen to all the negativity towards the game, not all games need to be a certain way, for everyone and all the same liked by everyone.

Gameplay/combat is the same, minimalistic, but it's intense, visceral, very punchy, you feel it through the animations-movement-visuals.

Never finished the 1st but finished this and enjoyed it.
Criticism in the above posts is fair, didn't stop me enjoying it.
Play with a decent set of headphones for the full "personalities" effect, really added to the atmosphere.

It's really fucking good. Loved the story, the gameplay was light but engaging, and the visuals are still unmatched. Acting performances were phenomenal as well.

If you can enjoy it for what it is, then play it.

If you can't enjoy it for what it is, then don't play it, otherwise you will likely whine and bitch for what it's not.

It's worse than the first one in every way except graphics. It's borderline walking sim with QTEs. It'll leave a bad taste in your mouth. But it's on GP so whatever.

Really pretty but as a sequel it's totally unnecessary. The final boss is underwhelming as shit. The game itself is quite boring and they were able to make the combat worse.

I was so disappointed with it after really liking the first game, combat was my least favourite part of the first and they made it even more drawn out in the 2nd.

I loved the performances of the head voices, crazy guy and father in the first game, it was what kept me playing and I got nothing of that quality in the sequel personally.

I think it would be worth a punt for under 20 quid if you liked the first game.

It looked nice and performance was great for a UE5 game...and that's about everything positive I can say. The story was ok at best, combat was simple and boring and some of the puzzles involved annoying trial and error. It was also extremely short and I don't see much reason to return to it in the future.

You'll have a better time thinking of it as an interactive movie rather than a video game. It barely has any gameplay. They probably should have called it a tech demo, and people would've had a better opinion of it.

Also, the "game" basically treats schizophrenia like a superpower, which eventually becomes funny because of how helpful the voices in her head are.

As someone that liked the previous game...

Budget aside(so visuals) it's a step back from first one in every other way. It's not narratively interesting, gameplay drags and even presentation once initial wow factor wears off starts to show plenty of cracks.
Also having Senua's voices turn into Lara/Alloy puzzle solving chorus drastically cheapened the experience, and I don't know what purpose expanded cast of characters was supposed to serve, by the end I couldn't remember any of them or why they were there.
