How is Killzone Shadow Fall these days? New PS4 owner

The hyperbole in this thread...

It wasn't a great campaign, but wasn't as bad either. Don't forget that there are people who enjoyed the campaign (and the pretty graphics)

I'd still hesitate to pay that much for it. Worst shooter campaign I have ever played and contains the worst level I have ever played in any game (that wasn't broken/unplayable). Awful, awful single player game.

The multiplayer on the other hand is great though, feels like it was made by a different team.

It has been a while since I played the multi though, and even then there was barely 1000 players online. Still got into matches quick enough though. Might be a different story now.

How many of you guys talking about Killzone's multiplayer have actually played it online recently? I know someone who still has this game, and he said it's a graveyard. As in, there is literally nobody online playing.

Multiplayer was fun, but I don't know if many people play it now. The single player is not the greatest and suffers from a lot of confusing objectives and maps, but it does have its moments.
For $20, yes. It's worth it.

I'll be honest I haven't seen a game split GAF in half like this in a while :p

I was looking for something to showcase the PS4, as FIFA looks nice as does Warframe, but I wanted to see something that was made for the PS4!

I did some quick reading and I see bots exist, are those bots any good?

The shadow fall threads really bring out the best in the hyperbole.
At that price get it just for the graphics alone, I personally really enjoyed the sp but I also like all the killzone games.

I don't get all the hate. It was a launch game. I thought the game was good IF you put it on hard. Had to slowly make your way through like a secret agent. Yes it has some problems but killzone games always had flaws.

Certain chapters were not as hard as people make them out to be. I remember thinking oh geez here comes the
freefall section
later in the game. I didnt die on it once. Gaf is so split on this game.

Multiplayer was blast on it! I couldn't put it down.

I say give it a shot.

I play extended Warzone religiously and have NEVER had a problem finding a match or encountered lopsided teams due to this "graveyard".

"Yes it's mediocre, but the whole series it belongs to is mediocre too so you should play it!"

Pretty average launch title from a gameplay perspective, but great eye candy. For $20, definitely worth it, also worth $10 to pick up the Intercept online coop DLC, which is a blast.

Hated it. Somebody made a LTTP and the way he/she felt about the game was spot on. I would rent it if I were you or find the cheapest used disc around but whatever you do, try to spend as little as possible on this game cus its just not worth it.

It was my first new gen purchase, as well as my first new gen regret. Gotta pop that cherry sometime I guess.

The multiplayer is fun but it wasn't implemented well at all. Unstable framerates, poorly chosen playlists, unbalanced "perks" (turrets and drones, fuck 'em always), they didn't even have team chat at launch for fuck's sake. The main redeeming quality for the gameplay was the lack of aim assist which most shooters are severely lacking these days.

I dont understand the story of Killzone 3. Why Vekta allowed half of your planet to be occupied by armed Helghans?

It's never a problem getting into an mp game on Killzone, just because there is only 1-2k playing it doesn't mean you can't get a game. As quick if not quicker to get in a game as every other mp out there at the moment.

I guess it depends when you hop on. Everytime I've been on I've easily found matches.

I also put on KZ:SF multiplayer from time to time because it's just dumb and the shotgun is fun.

I never had a problem getting into a game, but as long as the population doesn't drop below 500 which game has issues anyway?

I played Blur wit ha sub 1000 population for several months. 20 player matches.

This is not a recommendation though.

yea.. i don't understand the hate. I thought the SP was okay, Mp and Warzone is a freakin blast. And like others say, better team working schools all day.. it' aint like COD run and gun..

Why is it that so many are calling the posts calling the game bad hyperbole?

The game was bad, really bad. From my point of view those saying buy it have hyperbolic posts....

Opinions man....

Probably be on PS+ at some point too.

I'd recommend Wolfenstein or Infamous over it if you're just looking for something to play, but KZ: SF is still a good game. I didn't touch the story but the multiplayer is a lot of fun

I really do not understand what some people's issue is with the game. If the story mode is poorly done then I could understand that, but people saying the multiplayer is 100% undeniably garbage is confusing to me. If you don't like the "sluggish" feel of Killzone then so be it, but I thought (and still think) it was a good time. The community has had low numbers since launch, which is really disappointing, but I and I'd imagine the others who still play don't think it's "horrible and unplayable"

I sold the game around April, but was pretty deep in the multiplayer. There were issues with the abilities (buddy drone too weak to feasibly complete the level up process), but overall the multiplayer was really fun.

Then sometime around January, the entire game shifted into something similar of what happened to Killzone 2. Teams would camp bases, and would steamroll through the objectives while the other team was trapped. The spawn beacon helped sometimes, but well coordinated teams could keep that from taking place.

As such, the fun was lost and the game became either boring or frustrating, depending on which side of the base camping you fell on.

Things could be different now though, and the new stuff that dropped may be worth it. I can't speak for that though.

With the campaign, it's ok. Boring and some terribly designed levels/sequences, but it has its moments as well.

$20 isn't bad though. Probably around what I wish I payed at the end of everything.

I do. You get into matches very easily so you probably misunderstood what your friend said.

For $20 it's worth checking out the single player, and while I wasn't nuts about multiplayer you might enjoy it OP.

Edit: I think Wolfenstein is on sale for $40 this week at Best Buy. Grab that instead if you have the money.

How cheap is Wolfenstein going for right now? Go with that if you want a great refreshing single player campaign with a different gameplay style than most other shooters.

It's such a mind numbing game. I was legit excited about it, didn't believe the haters and got it with my PS4 last week.

I loved Kill Zone 2 and thought the playstation move made 3 an excellent game. But Shadow Fall is some low tier garbage.

My favorite part was the stage that involves grabbing reactors and swapping them around to activate doors. I just wanted to pat the game on the head and go "awww, you think you can do puzzles? soooo cute."

I got up to Chapter 6 before reselling it.

Pff so much hyperbole. You can find full games at any time. Don´t listen to these guys. The hate is strong with this game. Sure it´s not everybody´s cup of tea but come on man. Graveyard ? Not really.

The new Coop DLC is super fun too. If you don´t like competition MP then this is maybe something for you.

KZ isn't too bad especially at 20. But it's definitely something you should just rent if you aren't going to invest in the MP. Like others have said you are better of using that money for Wolfenstein or something else.

Single player starts promising.
Its not a linear shooter that tells you what to do and how to do, thats sounds good, but it really isn't.
The second level is very good in my opinion, because it has good level design, so their open approach works here. But later the level design gets much worse and the freedom the game gives you just makes it frustrating because you don't know what to do and where to go.

There are a few good sections in single player, but overall its pretty bad and boring. Story is lame, characters are bland, pacing is horrible...

Multiplayer was shit right after launch, mainly because many people played it and didn't know what to do.
Nowadays its pretty fun, because Guerilla refined it and people know what to do by now.
I had to choose between COD MP and Killzone MP I'd go with Killzone.

When I bought the game with my Ps4 at launch the graphics were stunning in my opinion. Today I feel like the graphics are pretty flawed. Image Quality in MP is bad, in singleplayer its better but not as good as in Infamous.
Overall the game feels very rushed in every way, but they put some work into MP after launch so at least that part is good by now.

I guess it depends on how much eye candy is worth to you. As a game it is largely worthless. With much better games available, there's really no reason to spend money on this game.

It's a solid showcase for the PS4. It's got amazing graphics, plays great with the Dualshock 4 and makes excellent use of the touchpad, has a decent campaign with some fun levels (but also a lot of really weak ones), and pretty satisfying gunplay. Some wonky design decisions such as the fact you only carry 2 guns but only have the option to swap one, along with the poor writing, and areas of really weak level design and objectives hold it back.

But, I enjoyed how varied the campaign was, because if you didn't enjoy one level you are guaranteed to have the next one look and play totally differently (it feels like each level was designed by a different team). The multiplayer is a lot of fun too.

Overall I'd probably say it's worth it if you're intrigued by it and want something with really pretty graphics.

But if you want a great FPS for the system I would recommend Wolfenstein in a heartbeat.
