How is Rainbow Six Siege holding up?

I got up to about level 60 and I still suck but I keep going back to it because it is an absolute blast to play with a group... except for when Im doing extra shitty. I will rage quit after a few rounds of getting slaughtered by people who are inhumanly good. Getting shot in the head from someone on a roof outside through a tiny hole in a wall while im crouched behind a desk on the other side of the room can be a bit much sometimes.
Fucking amazing game though.

Best shooter on the market, albeit still has a ton of network issues and crashes on all platforms
Community is bigger now than it ever has been as well

Amazing game. Played the beta but didn't pick it up until July. It does take time imo to get it down until you can be MVP in a match. I really hate when players vote kick you in the first round just because you didn't get a kill. So stupid, it makes them have 1 less player so I hope they lose.
Some people use random operators, I tend to stick to 1 on each.
Defense - Mute is the man.
Attack - Thatcher or twitch.

I must say, you Must have a mic and headphone with undivided attention and no outside noise distraction to really enjoy the game.

Amazingly!!

Join now! This is easily the most underrated, and deeply enriching shooter in years. There are tons of stuff Im still learning after 500 hours (mainly areas on maps that I can blow up to create secret lines of sight)

Yet it's not super hard to get into (there is a learning curve, but it's not difficult to feel useful to the team at all). The big thing is learning the maps, which you can do in a private match, and then do decent in PvP.

There are also operators of varying skill level. Newbies are best off picking Rook, or Sledge. Even if you die, you can help out your team by watching cameras. This is an amazing feature as in any other game, you are stuck waiting for the next round. Siege is really, really great.

Strong community, lots of players on any console, and best of all, they are doing so well that they are supporting the game for another whole year.

This is the shooter I keep coming back to. No matter what game comes out, no matter what MP I play, Siege has a magic and flow to it that no other game on the market matches. By the way, this is the only shooter Ive played where random strangers often come together on mic to communicate. I never have that happen anymore, and it's just such an awesome experience.

My only other issue with the game, is the situation with obtaining new characters/operators.
That requires either buying with in-game currency, or playing hundreds of games just to unlock 1 operator, from my estimate.
Anyone know how much actual money you'd have to fork out, to buy all the new operators that are being offered?

There are enough new players in casual mode that you shouldt have a problem. I see tons of <20 players. The game's #1 thing is map knowledge, and that can be easily learned. It's also not hard for new players to pick defenders like Rook, and stay in the room to defend it. Gradually, people will learn from their mistakes.

As for operators, since it's 1 per team, you only need a few yourself, and dont have to worry about getting slaughtered by the enemy. The default operators are unlocked very fast anyway. It's the DLC operators that are grindy, but you dont necessarily need them yourself. So long as a teammate picks one, which they almost always do. Valkyrie and Blackbeard are the most important DLC ops.

I want to pick it up, but I fear the userbase is too hardcore now, and not noob friendly. And that in turn would stop me from fully getting into it

Id say from my experience, there are tons of new players in casual mode. Ranked is where the hardcore community plays and dominates.

Oh I didn't know that, thanks!

So similar to what Capcom did with SF5 then?

If that's the case, not even going to worry about it :)

*Still kicking myself cause I realized I probably could have logged into Amazon as my wife and bought that second $5 copy so I can play with my kiddo... ugh

You will have enough credit to buy all default characters in no time. DLC Operators are very grindy, but not something you need to have yourself. Unlock the default operators, and you'll be plenty busy using them in games and slowly getting more credit to buy more operators.

I know it's got a great community now, but are there enough new players to keep things balanced for rookies or is it just mainly a hardcore crowd that's been around since launch?

I would totally grab this on sale this holiday if it'll still be feasible to learn how to play without getting wrecked nonstop by pros.

Yes. There are. And you can learn this game fairly fast by learning the maps in private lobby. From there, it's just a matter of learning the abilities, camera spots, etc.

Is it possible to enjoy this game if I am playing solo? All my friends turned to Battlefield and CoD and that's just not my cup of tea.

Yep. I play solo 99% of the time. Strangers are constantly mic'ing up in this game and communicating. Friendly too, Ive never had a bad experience even when some teammates screw up big time.

Im Gold Rank 2, just below Gold Rank 1, Diamond, and Then Platinum. Above Silver, Bronze, and Copper. If I play with friends, Im sure I can move higher.

I haven't played in a few weeks, but the game is exceptionally awesome. They have had some really good and meaningful updates since release.
