How is the Master Chief Collection now?

No it is not fixed and the last patch was a joke. Still no ranks, so matchmaking sucks, still games where teams are uneven. Still many bugs in mulyiplayer. BTB still has big issues finding games. Want to play with a party/friends? Good luck. I would highly recommend not to buy a Xbox One for MCC. No idea when this game will be fixed. It has been over 2 months and tons of patches, and it is still in a unacceptable state for Halo.

Thats not what I meant. Some achievements sometimes can fail to unlock, thats a known issue, and can cause frustration.

Sorry about the misunderstanding. I know from my end any pending achievements which hadn't unlocked thankfully unlocked with one of the recent updates (think one at end of dec) and again i've had no issues thankfully as of then.

It's still a struggle to get to work for me.

It feels like it takes at least 4 minutes to get into a match. In this day and age I expect matchmaking to only take a minute tops. That might sound like a COD-fanboy attitude but I feel like I'm waiting way too long to get into a match and between matches.

I got it for Christmas and after that first day I've had no problems at all other than the fact that no one that plays the game votes for a mode or gametype that isn't BR Slayer.

Here is a really good reddit post that covers every update from launch to today:

http://www.reddit.com/r/halo/comments/2t2jhu/halo_mcc_72_days_of_updates/
Look at that, someone put the patch list I compiled to good use. Looks like one of the commenters over there also noticed how the wording becomes less confident with time from "fixed" to "improved" to "made changes to."

Ha, even looks like the video I posted above got posted as well. Good old Dan Ayoub - from hype man and maker of broken promises to completely and utterly disappearing a mere two days after launch.

Saw this on /r/halo this morning

Still very, very broken.

343i/Microsoft have earned a huge black eye with this. Terrible representation of their biggest IP.

I honestly don't think they can fix the game.

^unfortunately, there are hordes of GAF members that have said they are still buying Halo 5 on day one. It's not really a mystery why companies think they can get away with releasing products in this state. It's because they can.

OP asked if people will be buying Halo 5 even if MCC is never fixed

From the first page alone:

Yep the Halo 5 Beta is fun.

Yes. Why? Cause I'm an idiot.

Who really loves Halo 5.

I think I will even if MCC is fixed or not

Yes because the beta is working well enough for me now and I enjoy the multiplayer

Yep. Halo 4, done in house, worked fine.

Halo 5 beta has shown me it's the best Halo since 2, IMO, and I've been playing since CE day 1.

Half a brain huh?

Absolutely.

Well if you put it that way...

Yes, I will be buying it.

yes, beta has some issues but works great. Dedicated severs work as well

Yup. $250 version as well.

Yes the beta is awesome and is ruining MCC for me because of all the new Spartan abilities

Yeah, H5 beta is working great already (needs region selection though)and its really fun.

Yup.

I can't not continue the series after investing so much into the games already.

343i is giving 1 DLC map, 1 month XBL Gold and the Halo 3: ODST port only to people, who played the game before the 19th December.

Motherfuckers! So I'm not getting ODST for free eh? Everyone is still affected by the fact that the game is semi-broken. They should give these games to all players. Take note from Ubisoft 343.

Didn't Halo 4 work decently at launch? Also the Halo 5 beta worked pretty well. MCC seems like an issue of letting 8 studios make the game and throwing a brand new multiplayer API in there at the least second with little testing.

They need to fix it for sure (because I'd like to play with a friend at some point) but I don't see the MCC issues translating to Halo 5. If people don't buy Halo 5 on principle, that makes sense though.

Heres the thing.

Halo 5 is totally 343

Halo MCC was like, 8 different studios.

That does NOTHINGGGGG to take away from how responsible 343 is for Halo MCC. Its their logo in the splash screen.

But i can still have faith in 5, with the hopes that MCC is fixed perfectly, soon.

I still think itll be a good day when i can play halo 1-5 on one console

Works pretty bad for me. Last night it would constantly split up my party during matchmaking and put us in different games. Most of the games I play are not full or have people quit out of them very quickly. The matches I have been able to play are great! It is so disappointing this still does not work properly.

I bought it for single player, and it's pretty solid so far. About halfway through Halo 1.

My only complaint is that the cutscenes are an absolute mess. The frame rate flies all over the place between 10 and 30 fps.

The actual gameplay is pretty solid frame rate wise, though.

How is the game for single player? I really don't care for multiplayer. I just want to play the franchise (I only have played Halo 3).

Darn - seeing what most people are saying here, I guess I'll have the game sit on the shelf a little longer. Still, can't wait to get back in those crazy online matches.

In a word: playable.

Is it everything we ever dreamed it could be? No, it's not, but it certainly works and they are working on it, even if it's taken them some time.

People also forget that MCC was a mishmash of different netcodes, and that Halo 5 is being worked on by an entirely different team from the one working to fix MCC. Whether MCC is fixed or not is irrelevant to Halo 5.

They've solved most if not all of the single player problems. I've completed H2 & H4 on legendary and i'm starting my legendary Halo CE run soon. If you pick it up feel free to add me on XBL if you need somebody for co-op GT is PeteMc

I've had middling to moderate success in Matchmaking with every playlist except Big Team Battle. Still have yet to play a single game there, which really sucks because it's my favorite playlist in every Halo.

Haven't tried co op yet, online or split screen.

co-op is still broken! laggy, unresponsive and annoying.

FYI

I am having a much better coop experience if my friend and I start a party outside of MCC and then I invite the party to the game.

Without using the party system we get constant crashes or extreme lags.

Don´t know if this is coincidence but for me it works :-)

Feel bad for people that still have matchmaking problems. I find games in 30 seconds searching in Team Hardcore, Team Slayer, and CE and that is with a party of 2. I still run into an issue during games where I'll get stuck in the respawn countdown for 1 - 2 minutes sometimes. I think once that is fixed, rankings are added to playlists, and spawns are fixed in team hardcore I'll be playing much more often.

Man if the co-op is still screwed after all this time, there must have been something fundamentally wrong with how either the client or server was coded. Would love to hear a postmortem after (if?) everything is resolved.

I actually feel really sorry for you people. I have lots of friends being affected by this and the 19th December doesn't make any sense.

It's nice to get free things, but it's obvious MS wants to sell ODST as DLC, but that really doesn't make any sense, because I can almost guarantee you that the MCC won't work even after ODST was released.

---

Now, I know some of you consider Halo 3: ODST as one of the best Halo campaigns (heck, I feel the same way), but please think about voting with your wallet and don't buy it, until the game is completetly fixed. All you are doing is giving 343i/MS even more money for this embarassing and unfinished product.

But didn't Microsoft tell that Azure's servers were the most advanced servers in the world for online gaming?

That would be PR talk ;-)

Fact is that they have a huge server farm with modern servers.

What developers do with that is their thing. They write the software which is running on Azure servers.

Going to be honest, I've played 80+ hours of the MCC. The campaigns are totally playable and multiplayer is much better now (takes 2-3 minutes to find a match, which is...okay). But the coop... Sometimes the input delay is bearable, but there are other times where it's just completely awful and extremely hard to play, especially when you are playing on legendary. I was hoping that they'd fix this for the collection, but that was not the case, which was pretty disappointing, but regardless, I still enjoy the coop.

So...I think I'd recommend it for campaign and multiplayer.

The true answer lies somewhere between "horribly broken" and "acceptable". Ill be clear, It's not acceptable yet. Matchmaking problems are the biggest issues. I don't have any problem with any of the campaign stuff now, and neither will 99.999 percent of people. Frame rate is fine. Yes, its not perfect in some halo 1 missions but its not so bad as the hyperbole you read here. The game was so broken before, you'll see mad ravings even when its mostly fixed and some people will see frame drops and post rants. I feel 343 screwed us and got screwed. The outsourcing and timetable bit them in the ass. However it's there name on the game, they need keep at it, and fix it.

Still nothing for me either. Bought and played Halo MCC on Dec 11 (before the cut off)

Yeah, I played since release, and nothing yet. I'm not caring too much though, since Amazon surprisingly gave my money back, even though I bought digitally with a gift card.

I can only answer for the campaign, but I have completed CE, and now going through H2:A on coop. Other than the expected peer-to-peer lag (nothing major but noticeable), we have had no problems.

With the campaigns alone I would consider the game worthwhile. I'm hoping by the time I start playing matchmaking it is working 100%.

From what I've experienced and heard from others, it seems to work pretty well for the solo player. Matchmaking is reasonably fast now and most matches at least start with even teams. Many of the remaining bugs have to do with bringing parties into matchmaking.
There are issues that aren't bug related however, such as players quitting games early or AFK players that tend to spoil things for the rest of their team.

Every time I see hyperbolic posts about how broken MCC is, I wonder if I'm playing the same game. I have no problems getting into matches, and it doesn't take long at all. Maybe it has something to do with my connection? Hopefully there's something people can do to make it work better :/

Have you tried playing with a friend? Or going into big team battle? 4v4/5v5 modes work decent for me when alone, but if I grab a friend in my party or try to go into big team it takes ages.

Yeah I play with my friends, but we don't do big team that often.

I guess I can imagine that being screwy with so any players

This is crazy. New problems keep showing up. Last night, my friends couldnt connect to each other. I am not sure if it was temporarily not working because me and this particular friend never have issues. A short while later, it started working but we could not get a match. I was in a party of 4 and it kept saying 'error synchronizing data' on the lower right matchmaking box'. This has never happened before. We all are getting really frustrated and called it a night right away.

AND WHY is it 5v5 in H2A Anniversary Playlist? That is against the Halo bible. Does 343 know what is Halo?

There are still problems. BTB matching is still taking way too long. I don't party up as much as others do, but that is always a main complaint. I don't get uneven matches anymore. But there are some who say they get this all the time. Yet, there is still hyperbolic statements. There are some who are so upset, they're yelling louder than people were when the game was actually fully and completely broken.

If you play solo you'll have a fun time

If you try to play parties you'll struggle, happened twice when i tried playing with my cousin and another when I tried playing with two friends

When playing solo the max I've waited was 3-5 minutes for any game type which is struggling but alright , people do get disconnected before the game starts but since its unranked I just deal with it . love playing halo 1 maps since I never played halo 1 online mp
What he said. I get into games quickly by myself, but you still get the random 4v2 shit every now and then.

Parties are still a mess.

Finding matches isn't really a problem anymore for me. Again NAT is open as well if that makes a difference. And Campaign has been fine for me so far.
