how long does your haircut take?

i just got a haircut that took over an hour and it wasn't anything special either

the place is usually great

for most of this time this guy was just feathering away so lightly with the clipper, i think he was lazy and trying to pass time OR maybe he wanted to give the impression he was doing some masterful shit that requires next level attention to detail so i would tip him better?

but i didn't wanna say anything because i didn't wanna be mean, what should i have done?

how long should an average haircut take?

About 20 minutes tops. 3 on the sides faded to an inch long on top, and careful of my cowlick, it's kind of crazy.

Over an hour with clippers?! I could see that if your hair had some weird cowlicks and shit that made it difficult to smooth out a fade but lolno that's ridiculous.

Depends on the cut.

Dark/Light caesars take like ~20 mins. Fades take ~30-45 mins. DIY clean shaves take ~10. Shape ups take ~15.

I was going to say ~45 min but maybe I'm misremembering. I usually go quite a while before getting haircuts though so it's not just a trimming.

Everytime I want to cut my hairs I need to waste an entire afternoon. I can get at the barber shop at 3pm and if I'm lucky I'm out at 5pm.

There are two guys that cut hairs, they always chat with the other people in there (that aren't clients, they're there just to lose time) and I don't know why in the hell, even just a simple shaving with the trimmer take 30 minutes.

Just my haircut takes about 30 minutes, too. But I usually let my hair grow, and I don't want them shaved so he has to use clippers.

I go to an old school barber. Haircut takes 10 minutes; beard trim/moustache wax takes 15 minutes. I usually sit for another 5 minutes with a hot towel after they finish though.

Costs me between 15 and 20 quid and you can get a glass of whiskey or brandy (I don't drink so I just get a lollipop from the kids jar).

yeah man i was like wtf

just feather feather feathering away at the tip of my hair (i have really straight hair)

he used scissors at the very end

i have a strong feeling hes unlicensed

i told him to make it short too but he just did his own thing, i dont think he understood me to well he barely spoke any english which was weird as hell for that place because its normally people who can communicate fine

$20 for a 20 minute cut, and that's including Shampoo/Rinse afterwards.
Granted, sometimes I have to wait 0 seconds to 30 minutes to get to the chair.

Unless you have crazy hair or something I see no reason especially for guys why it would take longer than 30 mins tops. Most people should be able to be done in 15-20 honestly.

5 minutes. 3 on the top, 2 on the sides

I'm strongly considering asking for a discount since it is so quick. Why the hell do I have to pay $18+ tip for 5-10 minutes of work when someone else's haircut could take up to an hour?

I try doing it myself, but I can't get the fade to look nice, and it's difficult to square up the back on my head.

6 minutes with no guard clippers in the garage. The gift and the curse of being bald.

I think of a haircuts like prostitutes. You're paying for the haircut you get of course, but you're also paying for the haircut you aren't getting, too. ;)

Just did it the other day. Hmm, I haven't put a timer on it, but I'd say 15-20 minutes to shave it all off.

Honest question here, but is there a way to make clippers without a guard less painful? I have a set, but going without guards hurts more than I thought it would. I don't have a small enough guard to cut low either (which is why I go without guard).

In and out in 15 minutes. Is anyone else horribly confused with the numbering system of barbers?

"I've got you down for a 6 on the sides and an 8 on top. Does that sound right?"

How the hell should I know? Sure, whatever.

I go to a men's only barbershop that fully embraces the 60's aesthetics. You know the type.

White coats and ties, tattoo's, beards and slick hairstyles, it's hipster-mania.
Thing is though, they offer you a chilled beer when you come in and you always get a haircut fit for a king. They take at least 45 minutes, but the end results are always great. Every contour gets razored, everything is hand-cut.

A stark difference from the 10-minute 10/15€ haircut I used to get at random big chain barbershops that mostly only employ women. They often seem incompetent handling men's hairstyles.

I always get a skin fade on the sides and back and that takes about 35-40 minutes. An extra five minutes on the top of my head but its long there anyway and I just have it cleaned up.

Hmm, snap on the #1 comb, run the clippers until no more hair comes out, vacuum, shower.

Altogether probably twenty minutes. But then, I also just go ahead and cut all of my hair down to the same length at the same time. If I just did my head, it'd be less.
