How long should that battery last on a psp-2000?

It depends on what you are doing.

3 hours is what you'd expect if you were playing a streaming UMD game with the light on bright (and if you have it over clocked, even less).

OTOH, regular speed and running from the memory stick, that's pretty bad (should be about 5-6).

But unfortunately, the battery degrades. My PSP-3000 which is only a couple years old, now only gets about 4 hours...

I can get 4-10 hours with my stamina battery, depending on the game (GT is awful, 2D stuff lasts forever).

I never got to count how long my PSP last, I usually never play my psp in such a long burst like I do with consoles or PC because it's too easy to go to sleep mode and suspend playing and continue later. I haven't turn on my PSP for a while since I got Witcher 2, but I think my psp is still on sleep mode in the middle of playing Tactics Ogre.

The Sony psp extended battery is like $24 new off amazon, I have owned one for like a year and get about twice as much power out of it than the original battery, about 7 hours average.

Edit: I realized I have the 3000 model don't think the extend battery works with 2000.

Yeah, PSP has a pretty good library, but there's no way around it, the battery life kinda sucks. It doesn't help that the AC adapter is badly placed for playing with it plugged in either. Here's hoping that the PSP Remaster lineup actually spans a decent variety of titles. I'm not entirely optimistic about some of my favorite 2.5D games making the cut.

I've had my PSP-2000 since late 2007, generally run games off the memory stick (with a UMD in, every time the PSP jiggles even a millimeter, the XMB pops up and asks if I want to quite the game. Seriously, Sony? Seriously?), and get maybe 2-3 hours these days.

I always keep the brightness on the maximum setting unless I'm in a very dark place. I keep the volume at one tick above zero most of the time -- one thing handhelds haven't been very good about is making it possible to have low volumes that the user, but not anyone standing nearby, can hear. It's either mute or blasting, it feels like.

I get 3-4 off psp 3000 (no use of umd) but I guess it depends on the game. I've been playing games like Disgaea, Crimson Gem Saga, etc. Luckily the battery in the 3000 is easy to switch. I have two extra although I don't tend to play enough to need to switch

If you go to System settings and battery information, check the time it says on a full charge,my 2000, that`s 3 years old now or so, usually has about 4 and a half hours on a full recharge, and I use it a lot.
