How many people still keep a clock in their room?

I have two clocks: a digital alarm clock on my nightstand and one near my TV. All I have to do is glance up and there's the time. I don't keep my phone near my computer and the clock near my TV is much larger/clearer than the one on my computer screen.

yes, I need to dust. lol

Mainly use a phone for my alarm but I still have this.

Because this projects right onto the ceiling I don't even have to turn to see what time it is. Also helps that I'm nearsighted and I don't have to squint to see the time

I still have an alarm clock because I need a backup if I sleep through the phone alarm lol

It only cost me $10 and it has internal battery backup in case it's unplugged for a while

I have one of these (close to it, anyway) on my wall:

and I use my phone as my alarm. I hate glowing numbers, but I can usually squint at the clock in the dark and see what time it is.

I should prolly get a proper alarm though :\

I have analog clocks, just not in my bedroom. The ticking would bother me at night.

Yeah, the ticking is the only downside. I have to keep mine on the floor near my bed so I don't hear the ticking. This also makes me wake up more because I have to reach down and turn it off.

My friend has a really loud ticking clock at her place. Whenever I stay over, I have to put it somewhere. I was drunk one night and I threw it in the bathtub. She didn't like that

I have an alarm clock in my bedroom but otherwise try to avoid having clocks as much as possible. I can't relax if i'm seeing how much time I'm wasting.

I don't keep a clock in my bedroom anymore as I use my phone for an alarm in the morning, but I do keep an analog clock in my bathroom to make sure I don't take 20 minute showers.

I have an analog alarm clock, but only because I'm terrible with keeping my sleep schedule and often need three separate alarms (phone, TV on-timer, alarm clock) to make sure I get my ass out of bed. I very rarely look at it to find out what time it is, as I'm always closer to something else that tells time (phone, computer, TV, PS3, etc.).

I have one that I put on the other side of my room. When the alarm rings I have to get up to turn it off anyway so I just walk straight out into the bathroom to shower.

That's always my plan with my alarm clock, but I just end up snoozing it and going back to bed anyway.

I do. My phone is too bright to check time on comfortably in the middle of the night and the digital clock I have right now is the only thing with numbers big enough for me to read without my glasses on.

As part of our intent to be a one-TV household, each bedroom is now furnished with a clock radio/iPod stand. It had worked out very well so far; I find myself listening to more NPR and podcasts now that we've made this move.

The only thing I really miss is watching old MeTV before bedtime. The Twilight Zone, Hitchcock, etc etc..

(and those Nixies are gorgeous. I think I now know what Dad is getting for Christmas!)

Along with all my watches, I still use my Bart Simpson alarm clock. There's a clock in the bathroom, but that gets out of sync easily because of the steam from the shower.

It's great for glancing at so you know if it's a "yes! 10 more minutes!" or a "oh crap I'm late!" kind of day. I also wear a watch at work. It's much easier than getting my phone out of my pocket.

To hell with phone alarms. I have 2 clocks, one for the primary alarm and the other as a backup if I was to ever sleep through the original. I set the alarm volume really loud and it plays in between stations so it's an obnoxious staticy sound. I also keep it on the other side of the stand so I HAVE to get out of bed to turn it off.

I have something similar to this.

Alarm Clock Extreme on my phone. Main function of the app is to force you to do math problems (you can vary difficulty and how many problems) in order to snooze or dismiss the alarm.

With that said, I have to set 5 medium problems before I can snooze/dismiss.

hell yeah I love clocks. 2 alarms right here and a wall clock.

It just makes it so easy always have a backup clock at the ready even with all our phones etc, what if the power goes out? you still need a clock on batteries :)

Watches are still relevant. In the time it takes you to fumble through your pocket, get out your phone, press the power button, wait for it to spring to life, and then reverse the process so it's back in your pocket again, I can simply glance at my wrist at get the time instantly.

Plus you aren't allowed phones on planes, in hospitals, in exams etc etc.

My past phones have been glitchy when it comes to alarms.
Sometimes the alarm wont go off, and when I unlock it it'll have an old time for a split second then quickly update to the current time. Like the phone went to sleep or something.

Id like to get a wakeup light but Im not sure if I wanna spend over a $100 on an alarm clock.

Still have an old digital alarm clock in the bedroom, had it for like 17 years. Has a nice radio and ear wrenching screech when the alarm goes off. Even better when the kids 'accidentally' would turn the sound up all the way.

What if it's hours before you actually have to wake up? I've woken up before I needed to for unknown reasons.
Like other members have said, maybe you don't want to know how many hours to have left before you're supposed to get up.

On the other hand, having a clock is handy if you overslept so you can begin panicking like a mad man.

been using this for like, maybe 20 years now?

I have an Audiovox that looks almost exactly like this. In fact, I'm certain my clock is just a rip off of this design. I thought mine was an eyesore until I made this thread!

I have one clock in my apartment, and I maintain one rule for its use - I can never apply daylight savings. Right now its wrong by one hour, and reminds me of the relativity of time, while also helping to fool my morning mind. One day next year it will automagically become correct and I'll have a strange aha moment.

Its worth it.

got an analog wall clock on my wall. one of the ones where you put a battery in and it sets the time based on radio signals from the atomic clock or something

I have this incredibly nerdy clock in my bedroom.

I have that on my desk. :)

I would love to have something like that, unfortunately my roof is corrugated steel.

yes of course. Glance at the wall or lean over to pick up phone, unlock phone or press button to see time.

at night we have an alarm clock/radio which also shows the time so I can roll over and go 'oh fuck its 3am, why can't I sleep'

glanceable information
