How much alcohol can you stomach?

don't really know. i've never really pushed myself. most i've ever had was maybe four or five drinks at a time, and that was only once. i like my alcohol slow, rich, and fine, like an expensive scotch, a warm gin, a fine wine, a crisp cider, or a good Guinness. i'm really a beer snob. i won't drink anything cheap or available as water, so i don't really go to college parties, and i have been almost completely turned off to the concept of drinking anything vodka related, though i might in certain instances as a mixer or in RARE cases of the finest stuff, straight. either way, i don't really ever push my limit. it's just a bit of stupidity i want nothing to do with.

I have a pretty good tolerance. I usually drink cans/pints of beer or cider and I can pretty much keep going all night, 14-16 pints will get me very drunk and then some spirits will finish me off. The most I've had to drink in one go will be at Leeds festival. I take 3-4 crates (approx 60-80 cans/pints) and that is all I'll drink for 5 days straight.

An average night out would probably be about 4 or 5 pints of cider and about another 4 or 5 single spirits (vod/jack daniels)... I can't do doubles anymore :(

2 shots, and i'll probably do whatever the hell you want! :lol

I was proud of myself for downing 5 drinks last night, but i only really managed not to pass out :lol

My hangovers are mild at best though.

Maybe...40 ounces?

I only bought my first alcoholic beverages on my birthday. I downed a glass(8 ounces) pretty quickly so I think I'd manage 40 pretty well.

Edit: It was stoli vodka(burned like hell :lol )

I think a much better question is how do you guys maintain a nice solid buzz for as long as possible?

I found early on that for me the difference between solid-buzz-fun-time and puke-city-drunk-town is a meager 2 drinks, which REALLY f*cking sucks. I've started getting into drinking light beer (coors or miller) because it's only 4% and helps me keep the plateau going without getting too obscene at night or devastated in the morning.
agreed. once im almost really buzzed i start drinking bud light

ohh yeah and bear bonging a 40oz after vodka not a good idea

I had a really good stomach when i was in the army but thats ten years ago now. Got all kinds of stomach and colon problems since then :(

5-6 beers once a week is all i can take before getting some serious digestive problems.

I envy you guys with strong stomachs

why? it's more expensive and you're that much closer to being an alcoholic.

i don't get bragging over how much alcohol you can handle.. the more you drink the more tolerance you build up.

Here is my buzz level chart:

1 beer: slight buzz

2 beers: nice buzz which is
usually perfect for me and why I rarely drink more than 2 beers.

3 beers: I'm fairly fucked at this point. Bad judgement kicks in.

4 beers to 7 beers: from 4 to 7 there is no difference in buzz level, I am just totally retarded at this point. I rarely have ever gotten to this point except for when I was in high school.

I don't drink often which is why I think I have this low tolerance to alcohol. For some reason whenever I go out drinking I'm always on an empty stomach, so that probably has something to do with it. I also hate hard liquor, can't stomach it. Only beer for me. I love beer.

I can stomach a good amount though I am weak against certain types of alcohol. Can't handle too much cognac or Cointreau. Everything else I can do a lot before I actually feel drunk though I will still get hungover the next day.

During the college year i finished a whole handle of taaka with a friend. That's absolute blackout though, fuck that shit :lol

So far not much. Two-three bottles and I don't want anymore. If I'm not drunk by then, chances are I won't be getting drunk that night.

Sad really. It's always been my dream to wake up in an unknown place with unexplained bruises not knowing what I did the night before.

Instead it turns out I am just very uncoordinated and remember everything the day after.

the other day i split an 18 pack with my buddy. i was pretty fucked and i was surprised because iv been drinking hard alcohol for a good while.

drink hard alcohol.

Started drinking regularly only a few months ago. Most I've consumed in one go is about 20 ounces of scotch-whiskey. Not proud of the way I acted that night.. A 40 ounce gets me a good buzz. 2 will make me act dumb. 3 might make me say/do things i'll regret. Any more than that and I am in Pluto.

In the past I used to safely drink/down about 6 pints, which honestly, didn't get me that fucked (slightly drunk, but not too bad). Nowadays I just casually drink to be honest, but I do occasionally have my moments. Such as these.

The Christmas party last year was one of them, I had gone through about 5 bottles of beers and about half a bottle of Jack. It was I'd say, a happy medium (since I didn't black out).

The next time was in a club, I had about 20 shots within an hour... and the last thing I remember before I went in and out of blacking out was falling on some women (who at the time I thought were a table! I only know I fell on women due to some eyewitnesses :lol). And needless to say I blacked out pretty much the moment from being kicked out (must've been the air) and wound up several miles away.

The last time I got really drunk was a house party, throughout the course of the night I was happily drinking a lot of cider, beer, whiskey, and smoking weed to top it off. I can't remember too much from the night, but it was an experience.

But yeah, I don't really have too many insanely drunk moments, but what I do have I cherish in memories.

Also I'd like to apologize for my English, it's fucking 2:40am!

I can manage half a big bottle of vodka these days... I used to be able to have a whole bottle. My stomach has caved in.
You're either talking about stomaching over a LONG period of time (in that case, I can stomach a barrel of rubbing alcohol, it just takes me a while), the world fattest person or full of shit.
A large bottle of vodka is well over the ld50 of alcohol.

p.s.
My money is on the third option.

Huh? What he is claiming is really not that rare or unachievable.

I don't like beer. Tried Heineken and it was nasty. So I stick to Vodka and bacardi gold or just hard liquor.

But then I don't drink much. I had like 1/3 of a bottle of vodka because me and cousins were playing cards and they had beer. lol. I need to remind myself to eat before or i'll kill myself.

agrajag said:
What's time span for drinking the whole bottle are we talking about?

I don't know, I haven't done it myself but it's not unheard of. I wouldn't instantly assume someone was talking shit if they claimed that. It also depends how big a big bottle is :p

Heineken is a lager and you can't really try one type and dismiss the entire drink, it comes in MANY variations. It's like dismissing meat because you tried and failed to like one type.

Probably 7 or 8 beers is it for me, then I have to puke...as long as I have a good meal before. With mixed drinks or shots idk 10 or so drinks/shots

I was a bartender, I heard many people making similar claims and never seen a single person do it.
It is impossible to do without puking your ass and/or dieing (again, unless we're talking about drinking that over a long period of time).
Do you want me to run the numbers for you to see how much off of a bullshit this claim is?

The average adult has around 5 liters of blood.
The LD50 of alcohol is around .4% BAC
An normal bottle of vodka (not even talking about a large bottle) is 1.75L.
Around 10% of all alcohol consumed is vaporized, sweat and pissed.
A good drinker can metabolize upward to about 50ml per hour.

Do the math.
It's not even close.
Not even close to staying alive, forget about being able to do it socially.

I don't think it's heineken. it's another beer with a green label. :lol. sorry.

EDIT: it was heineken. I just saw the picture of the heineken keg. I tried Corona too. nasty as well.

Depens on my mood, been drinking since i was 14, 29 now. I can drink a bottle of vodka, whiskey, 20+ beers, but some days i get drunk with like 10 beers. I never get wasted, i just drink to the point i know i shouldn't be drinking anymore and that's it.

I wasn't talking about Vodka straight (I don't know anyone who would want to drink that much vodka straight). It could have been diluted with anything.

It depends on a bunch of things:

am i mixing drinks?
am i eating while drinking?
did i eat anything beforehand?
how much time between drinks?

In june i drank for 12 hours straight at a friend's wedding, i had 2 bottles of wine to myself and a bunch of other drinks. I was perfectly okay when i left because it was 12 fucking hours and we never stopped eating.

Last week i had 3 beers on an empty stomach (500ml at 6.5%) and i was toast.

The absolute worst i ever did was 20 shots within about 20 minutes. I don't remember anything from that night and i passed out.

I agree with you, I'm just thinking that over the span of a few hours it's not outrageous. I'd call bullshit if someone said they could down the whole bottle in half an hour or so.

Yeah, that's like my screwdriver incident. I had come to a party on an empty stomach, had a screwdriver, then had a beer, had a shot of tequila, had another beer, made myself another screwdriver (mostly vodka), and before I knew it, I black out, find myself inside a restroom for over an hour unable to take a piss and then come out an barf orange puke everywhere. :/

What?
He said drinking a bottle of vodka, how else can you interpret that?
And mixing it with something is only going to make you dead faster.

p.s.
It's amazing that all those great drinkers, which rank somewhere between the world greatest alcoholic and superhuman consumption powers unbeknown to medical science, somehow post on a gaming forum on a Saturday night.
Seriously guys, think twice before you post, some people here had alcohol before, you embarrass yourselves.

Not much since I'm Asian. :lol

I'm Asian, and I don't fit any of the "common" symptoms of heavy drinking, like turning red or getting drunk easily. Is drunkness dependent on your metabolism?

at least you know this. i know a few idiots that cant drink to much but since they drink so fast they are completely passed out not even half way threw the party.

one guy got his face completely covered with a black (washable) marker :lol poor guy
Oh god. Yeah, during my freshman year of college there were many incidents involving people drinking too fast for their own good (I'm going to be a sophomore now). I learned the very hard way...During 'spring fling' which is basically a 72 hour drunkfest and concerts, I downed 5-6 shots under an hour at around 3pm and the occasional drink afterwards...The last thing I remember was being dragged to my ex's suite since there was a party, at which I passed out in the bathroom around 9pm. Very embarassing and I wasted an entire night :( Never again..

A pitcher of beer is my limit, it seems. I've only drank 2-3 times before that. Not sure why I didn't stop myself >.>

At least I didn't get a hangover.

Besides the guy who claims he drinks a bottle of vodka to himself on a regular basis (and really smirnoff? that shit is nasty get grey groose or really, anything else), i don't see anything that's really out of the ordinary.

Half a bottle of Smirnoff back in the day...now ....

two smirnoff ices' and a couple coronas and I am good...

age does sneak up huh...

I am also a lightweight. I'm also kind of a girl when it comes to what I drink. I don't like the taste of beer, from what I've tasted. I can't stand hard stuff like Morgan or Jack cause it tastes like cough medicine to me, and vodka just taste bitter. So in light of all of this, I usually just get a $8 6-pack of Mike's, and that will definitely do me for the night.

The only annoying thing about this is the tough guys who laugh cause I'm drinking "bitch" beer, and then they refuse to believe that their 'badass' bud light has about 4% alcohol and the Mike's has about 5%. It doesn't really bother me though because I figure that if I'm going to get drunk, it might as well taste good going down...

I dunno, i've actually found that i can drink more now (28) then when i was 20. I do drink on a more frequent basis (though not to the point of being drunk) so i think my tolerance to alcohol has increased.

Even over 4 hours it will kill most men.
20 shots will kill the average person.
A normal bottle of vodka has around 40 shots.
A normal person can metabolize around 1 drink per hour.

I count at least 5 people who claim to be able to drink a full bottle of >80 proof liquor.

I drink a bottle of this in a night regularly.

I've pushed myself to the limit of not being able to fit any more liquid into my body. This sports bar I used to go with my buddy (before it changed management, it sucks now) had $2 pitchers on tuesday nights and we'd go and get fucked up. When the bar was closing, people would leave half-full pitchers on the tables and go, and me and my friend, like two dirtbags, would finish their beer. One night my stomach was just filled to the brim, and if I drank more it splashed back out. :(

In many different ways. For one I wouldn't assume he had it straight. If I ask my uncle "What are you drinking tonight?" He'll say "I'm on the vodka". He won't have it straight, he'll have it with tonic or coke. How the fuck is that going to make you dead stronger? Did you assume I meant he might have mixed it with another alcoholic drink when I said "He might have diluted it with something else"?

I have already stated that I have never done anything of the sort. Why would I brag for the other guy on his behalf? All I am saying that over an entire night, having a bottle of vodka with coke (or anything else) doesn't seem like a stretch to me based on the amounts I've seen people drink. I don't have spirits often so I can't and haven't compared it with my experiences.

Edit: And I don't know who you've been drinking with, but I know with 100% certainty that 20 shots is do-able without death.

I don't know why but I envision you as a wise but surprisingly muscular old man.

5'11 @ 190lbs (very heavy for my size, I dunno where it all is)

At the start of the college year I was around 5 shots of 100-proof alcohol for a good night. Now it takes around 10. Any more than that and I start to go into puking territory.

10 shots leaves with a very nice drunk for a few hours, then I quietly sober down and sleep like a baby. :D

Dude, I don't know most men, but you must have not drank with many Russians. When I was younger and my dad used to drink a lot, he and whatever buddy was drinking at the time would down a bottle of vodka between the two of them, easily. My father is not even a big guy, pretty small (like me). He used to get fucked up like you wouldn't believe, but nevertheless. In fact, people there drink so much more than Americans (and Western Europeans, I presume, except for Irish maybe) that what is considered "drunk" in the states would be considered a buzz over there. If you're able to walk, you're not drunk there.

edit: I know your name is from a Russian novel.
