How much does it take to get you drunk?

I'm feeling pretty tipsy after 4 drinks, would definitely consider myself drunk at 6. Don't drink too often, I'm about 160 lbs, male. As a side note, probably the most drinks I've ever had in a night is something like 14-16, which I've done twice. While I never drank super fast, I've also never felt not in 100% control or had any kind of memory loss or blackout. I have had hangovers though, the headaches aren't good, but it's the nausea that really gets to me.

A lot. Probably about 12-14 drinks over a few hours. If I'm drinking water also, even more. In one hour I'm not sure - I've never drank that much, that fast. Back when I used to go out every weekend, I was able to drink 5-6 drinks in an hour (say 3 shots and 2 beers) and only feel slightly buzzed, nowhere near drunk.

Never been drunk on beer. I threw up once after having 7 cans, but it was only cuz I had too much liquid in my gut. I threw up and walked away buzzed and happy.

Never measured exactly but I know from my days of frequent clubbin:
3 Red Plastic Cups of "Long Island Ice Tea" level of mix drinks gets me drunk.

I can usually feel a little buzzed after three beers, but then it tapers off and it's usually a few more before I'd consider myself drunk. Been a while since I've been drunk though.

Well I usually wake up with about a double of whiskey left in the bottle, so I'm going to say around 40 cl for drunk, then 10ish more to call it a day.

I'm drinking right now anyway, so I'll present my results as I go :D

Bonus- me and a buddy once got back from uni less than an hour before we needed to meet people at this party. So, we split a litre between us and had two cans of energy drink each. I tell ya, that stuff masks vodka so well. 50cl each in less than an hour. Not exactly my usual routine, but I'm impressed I managed that so late into my uni career!

In my uni days we called that a TC, or tactical chunder (we had a lot of abbreviations). Make some space for more o the good stuff! Don't know how we managed it lol

If I'm drinking out beers here are about 5.5-6%. Knock two of those back in an hour and I get pretty loose.

Drinking at home though I generally drink a beer around 4-4.5% and seem to be able to knock those back all day while staying on the level.

Yes that seems about right.

Most I've gone so far was the following in one outing.

5 jaegerbombs
2 rum+cokes

Gotten a good buzz but still not drunk.

As for beers I've gone up to 5 party cups and gotten a buzz, almost tipsy. But not drunk.

Haven't been truly drunk in a very long time. But I usually get a pretty decent buzz after 3 or 4 beers, depending on how fast I drink them of course.
When I used to go on deployments and spend 6 month periods with no alcohol I would come back and get buzzed off of one drink. It was pretty nice, actually.

Before I got out of the military and more or less quit drinking I was at a 12 pack a day during the week and 30 beers or so on a Friday or Saturday. I was a very very heavy drinker. Switched to Cannabis and have only maybe had 10 beers total in the last 5 months. Back then, I'd say it'd take me 14 or 15 beers to start feeling drunk.

I only drink beer so that's my measuring stick

1 Beer: Nothing

2 Beers: Buzzed

3-4 Beers: (depending on how my body feels that day: Strongly Buzzed to drunk

4-5 Beers: Drunk

6+: Totally wasted

Yeah I am a cheapass drunk. But it's nice for my wallet.

Sounds about right for me.

Why did multiple people come in to this thread just to say they've never drank? Is it some kind of badge of honor to you? Does it make you feel superior or something? Are you like the "I only drink water" morons? Thanks for contributing nothing.

For me it depends on what I'm drinking. I definitely feel 3 or more IPAs. I can drink a bottle of wine and feel a bit tipsy. 5 or so bourbons would probably get me pretty drunk. The last time I got really drunk was about 2 years ago on strong margaritas that were just lime juice and tequila. I'm not really a fan of getting super drunk these days, the next day is too painful. I mostly drink to enjoy now.

Let's say too far gone to drive.

Oh lmao I'd never drive even if I had half a beer. Don't fuck around with that shit, will never fuck around with that shit.

On the other hand my motor skills are impaired at 9 shots so if that counts that's how much it takes I guess.

I don't think I've ever been drunk so maybe 700ml if we're talking whiskey. Eight ounces (470ish) of Whiskey just gets me comfortable. I know it'd probably take at least 16 ounces to make me do or say something I'll regret in the morning.

Almost a fifth of whiskey gets you drunk only?

Did you get fat? Legit wondering.

It's hard for me to tell exactly when I shift from a mild buzz to full on drunk, since it's never been intentional and always kind of snuck up on me. I try to stop at about 3 or 4 drinks to avoid getting drunk, nowadays.

Anything that has the equivalent of 3 bar shots of vodka/rum/etc.

That's at the passing out stage. 2 drinks will get me well and happy, definitely past tipsy.

3 shots gets you blackout? In a way, I'd probably like that, but I can see how you'd have to pick your battles.

what was that thread a few months back where the OP said he could drink, basically, gallons of beer or a whole handle of vodka, and still be fine to drive home?

the one that kept avoiding the questions people were asking about what kind of alcohol? it was hilarious

I'd say about 8 beers over a few hours and I'm in a good place. Although, a few weekends ago had a pretty big bender and drank 15 Founders All Day IPAs (session IPA) over the course of about 6 - 8 hours and was mildly buzzed. Ate a lot though, so it balanced out. Got pretty drunk at an NFL game a few weekends ago and probably had about 8 of the Founders cans, and then 3 22"oz Harpoon IPAs... and I stupidly took a nip of Wild Turkey during the 3rd quarter which was really horrible. I was drunk that night.

To get really drunk, like.. 'beyond drunk' would take too much and I'd probably just piss my dick off before getting thoroughly drunk.

Eight ounces is a weak buzz. Since I've never been shitfaced I guessed another whole glass right after would get me closer. I was a sheltered child growing up and beer is like water to me. Man, I see other posts in here and now I fucking wonder how someone can down 48+ ounces of hard liquor in a single night haha.

Do ya'll stick to the same brand of booze or do ya'll switch it up?

Top shelf liqour and/or good beer is a smooth drunk, cheap ass shit is a rough ride.

This describes me pretty well, with maybe 7+ hitting wasted.
