How much have you spent in Free to Play games?

Only F2P game I've ever spent money on is TF2. Not sure how much, but under $100 probably. Don't regret it at all, considering how many hours of entertainment I've gotten out of it.

$600. Regret it? Not at all. The amount of entertainment I got out of that game is insane.

That's how I rationalize my TF2 purchases. I love the game, I play it for hours a day. I know the people who work on making content for it, I like these people, I like the community. So me spending 50ish dollars doesn't strike me as being that bad, since I enjoy it so much

I've played a lot of free to play games. Have yet to spend a dime. There were some times when I thought I'd enjoy a game enough to justify spending money on it (example: to buy extra vault slots in Realm of the Mad God) but I kinda fell away from the game before I plunked down the cash.

I've spent about maybe $10 on TF2

and maybe $25 on League of Legends? Mostly IP boosts.

Two games I don't really play anymore. Only free games I've played and I've had TF2 since release, so I didn't just start playing that when it went free.

100% Agree. If you enjoy the game and it's giving you days upon days of entertainment... spending some money on it is an EASY sell (or... buy!).

I spent $20 on Star Trek Online.

iOS? Who knows how much. I always spend a couple of bucks on iOS f2p games if I have fun with them.

Bought some starter pack for Tribes. $15 I think? Do not regret it as the game is fun.
Bought some starter pack on Age of Empires $10 I think? Never play the game.
Bought about $30 in TF2 keys/tickets. I know it's useless but I don't regret it a bit.

Thats insane. What are these pay to win games anyway? Diablo 3 seems like the most "pay to win" style of game that I know off. All the f2p games I played are either spend money to unlock things faster or spend money to do basically the same thing as the free players but you look a lot cooler doing it. The balance never seems any more off then say a level 1 CoD player vs a maxed out one.

Is there some phone game or something I don't know about where you have to pay to win the game?

Games that are usually considered as Pay2win usually have some sort of gambling system. Rare items or rare enchants acquired through such gambling systems and are not available normally. These rare things are usually not that much stronger individually but a whole set of them is enough to tilt the favor to the paying players.

The vast majority of games nowadays do not feature this stuff as nowadays, any games that rely heavily on these random systems tend to drop in popularity fast.

Between TF2 and Dota2, $133.57

Dota 2: $42.60
- Keys: $14.94 (6)
- Tournament Items (Pennants and tournament passes): $11.92
- Cosmetic Items: $15.74

TF2: $90.97

- Various Keys: $47.31 (19)
- MvM Items: $4.96
- Backpack Expanders: $9.98
- Other (Noise Makers, Map Stamps, Donation Hat, Rocket Jumper, Duels): $28.72

League of Legends: $10. Got a few skins.

I regret the TF2 keys, mainly since I can't even recall the items I got from them. The Dota ones, despite being nearly identical, feel a bit more fulfilling. Most likely because I realize I am buying a $2.49 virtual Gachapon, and the boxes are filled with just cosmetic items instead of a weapon I most likely have like TF2.

£0.

I've put over 24hours into Spiral Knights. I'd happily buy a retail version at full price but the F2P sin't seeing a penny of money.

I may spend some (less than £10) on PSO2 depending how it functions.

15 bucks on Tribes which was fun and worth it.

10 bucks on Blacklight Retribution, which I also enjoyed for a few weeks.

I plan on throwing some money at Hawken and Mechwarrior Online when they are released.

Honestly this year has finally sold me on F2P.

0€. I didn't get invested in them enough to warrant purchasing things in the first place.

I spent around $50 on Maplestory (on cosmetic items) a few years back. Kinda regretted it.

That's about it.

$0, except for Dota 2 which is around $35 or so. Still worth it since Steam has it counted as 288 hours (albeit a decent amount idling, and a lot just spectating). I expect to spend more in the future on Dota 2 as well, though probably mostly in bursts when special events are up (summer sale, international).

Granted, I haven't really played many other F2P games besides Dota 2, and certainly not anywhere near the same amount of time. Other games just don't do it as well. The core gameplay is not affected at all by anything I've purchased with Dota 2, and that's exactly how I like it.

I've spent $30 so far on Tribes Ascend, and that's it. Played a ton of that game and still have a bunch of gold left over!

$15 in Path of Exile
$70 in Tribes
$10 in Blacklight Retribution (Warning to others, don't support these shysters please)
$6 in Hero Academy

That is all. I probably won't ever support another Free to Play game unless it's like Path of Exile where i 100% know they are charging for cosmetic stuff only.

I've played a fair bit of Micro Volts and Rusty Hearts on Steam, and so far I haven't been compelled to spend any money in game.

$2 on Jetpack Joyride (for the counterfeit machine).

That MIGHT be it, I don't think I spent anything on Spiral Knights, even though I got close.

~ $60 in World of Tanks. Slow trinkle over the year. Mostly new slots for more tanks and my B2 Bis, which I love to death

$20 Mass Effect 3 Multiplayer. I get impatient to try the new stuff when a new pack hits. I'm weak!

$0 in Blacklight, TF2 and Tribes.

I'm currently wondering about jumping into the Founder's Pack for Mech Warrior Online.

I gave Nimblebit some money after about a month of solid Pocket Frogs gaming, just on principle. I did the same with Triple Town. I don't remember how much I gave Nimblebit, but it was more than the turns unlock I bought of Spry Fox. Probably around $NZ5.

*$20 on TF2

*$5 on Tribes Ascend

*$25 on Age of Empires: Online (I really like this game and I will continue to spend money on it)

*$4 on Super Monday Night Combat

Spending money on Age of Empires usually gives you substantial things, like whole new civilizations to play with. That's why I spend more money there, as opposed to the other games.

Not very much... yet.

$38 on PSO2.
$120 on MWO.
$7 on Planetside 2.

Will probably be spending $50-100 on Planetside 2 launch, and another $30 on PSO2 when it comes out in the West. Might end up dropping some money on Hawken depending on how cool the cosmetics are in the cash shop.
