How much water do you drink a day?

Man, I can't imagine drinking some of the amounts you guys put down. I'd say I range from 6-10 cups per day. I should keep track of it for a week. I probably end up drinking more than I realize.

I mainly just drink water but sometimes i have a day or two where i get sick of it and just drink juice for said day. Id say normally i drink like half a gallon of water a day

I carry around a gallon jug and just sip on it while I'm work. it goes faster than you realize.

My god, some of the people in this thread are really thirsty.

This is probably a good place to point out that the whole "You should drink eight glasses of water per day" thing is a complete myth.

Basically your body will tell you when more water is required, that's why we have the feeling of thirst.

There's no point slamming more water just to meet the minimum when most people don't need anywhere near that much water to stay hydrated.

I don't overdue it honestly, when I drink a good amount, I stop. I understand hydration is the biggest reason for drinking water. While I'm no health major, what about things like cleansing your stomach/body of "toxins", good for the urinary tract, etc?

It concerns me that I'm as thirsty as I am compared to others ITT. I'm not a weightlifter although I love going outside and moving around a lot. I tend to avoid sodium rich foods as well so, I don't know.

When I'm thirsty, I drink. I don't really think about it hitting a target amount or anything.

Basically. I drink half my body weight in Oz a day. Granted I should adjust now that I have lost a bit of weight. Adjusted would be about 92oz a day. It's just what I drink naturally anymore. I don't force it.

Okay, i don't believe you.

I try to drink 3 liters.

The 10 litre days would be when I go hiking / mountain biking, etc. In the summer on a 3 - 4 hour ride I will drink my 3L camelback dry and still be thirsty.

10 maybe an exaggeration. But call it 7 easily.

On a work day, I always have a ~600ml bottle of water on my desk and refill it a bunch of times through out the day.

it helps with digestion and keeps your metabolism up. also helps with your bowel movements. especially if you're eating a lot of fiber.

your liver and kidneys are what clean toxins out of your system. your kidneys obviously need a good amount of water or else they'll develop stones.

I just drink when I thirsty. I dunno about you but I tried drinking a lot of water just to see the results for a week, and I just felt bloated and kinda nauseated.

That's a lot of trips to the tap in your daily routine for you to only be able to guess.

I have a bottle I fill up 4 times a day at work (2 litres total), we have water coolers.

I have the water bottle on my bike which is 500ml, I drink that on my way into work.
Have my 1 liter bottle on my desk, which I fill up usually twice.
Drink another 500ml on my bike ride to the gym
Usually drink about a liter at the gym, maybe more.
Then another liter at home before bed.

So yea over 5. But sometimes I'll have water before I leave the house, or more during the day. So 5-6...i guess :)

On my regular day I shot around 10 glasses of water a day.

Probably around 80-100 ounces a day. Sometimes more, sometimes less.

Is that a standard to go by?

It ranges wildly. Right now, I'm taking a break from eating decent and I'm eating/drinking shit, but I still had 3 or 4 16.9 oz water bottles. On a hot day (this is Florida) when I'm eating right and I'm being active I might drink as many as 15 bottles (nearly 2 gallons). When I'm active in the heat (doing shit outside, not just driving around or something) I try to get down a bottle an hour or I end up dehydrated at the end of the day.

Sometimes I forget to drink water all day, even two days. Then I have about 3 glasses at night. If I eat something hefty like a sandwhich I'll have water though, since it won't go down. I wonder why that is, I never had that issue as a teenager

Probably 1.5-2 litres per day. Other than that I'll maybe have a 600ML of lemon squash as well, and a cup or two of herbal tea if it's cold.

I like to think I do OK.

zero. I rarely, if ever, drink pure water. Tea/coffee/beer only. If I am hiking around S.E. Asia I might grab a bottle, in my daily work life nope.

Feel fine.

I haven't drank water since the First Lady's announcement of the "Drink Up" campaign as a form of protest against the Obama administration.

About 1L a day, trying to keep that steady and increase it gradually.

As a side note, I would be curious to know what other GAFfers skin quality's like. I used to drink very little water, and I noticed that my skin cleared up a bit when I started upping my water intake. No idea if it's coincidental or not.
