How often do you fall asleep watching a movie in a theater?

I seriously had to fight not to fall asleep during the 3D showing of the Phantom Menace and during the Hobbit: the Desolation of Smaug. Oh my god, those movies are so boring.

I've fallen asleep twice, and both being marvel movies. First time was the second captain america movie, and the second one was avengers AOU. Captain america I was just genuinely tired. AOU I was studying for finals, felt I needed a break and I fell asleep for around 10 minutes or so- I remember closing my eyes while Scarlet Johanssen was talking about something.

Never in my life. I don't even think I've fallen asleep more than a couple times watching a movie at home while I was in bed. I just can't fall asleep when I'm watching something like that.

Just once during the second Transformers movie. I was dead tired before being asked to go by friends and it was also very boring. I didn't miss much or so I hear.

Only happened with the first Hobbit. I was pretty tired that night, but the long ass boring intro didn't help either.

I was also about to have a sleep with the first Transformers, but Megan Fox kept me awake for the rest of the movie.

A couple years ago, I traveled for five hours at night to watch the first two Madoka Magica movies in another state. I had been awake for more than 48 hours when the first movie started, and I didn't fall asleep for the duration of the whole two movies.

But I fell asleep at the middle of a Titanic re-screening when I was with my girlfriend. I swear that movie must be 10 hours long...

I've never fallen asleep in a movie theater.

Uh, I don't think I have since I saw a 2AM showing of Attack of the Clones. If I am that tired I just don't go the movies.

I almost fell asleep during.... I wanna say Surrogates. That one movie with Bruce Willis and the robot people walking around. Only because I didn't really wanna see the movie, but my at-the-time girlfriend wanted to, and I was really tired. I was nodding off a couple times, but I didn't actually fall asleep.

Other than that, never. If I feel tired, I won't even go.

I've have only done it once in my life and that was during Boogyman because it was the first movie I ever went to the movies to see that I thought was actually terrible.

In fact me and my cousin both fell asleep half-way through, I woke up about 20 minutes later. Our friend who was also there and stayed awake told us she was jealous we fell asleep because we apparently missed absolutely nothing.

I fell asleep once. It was during Cloverfield. That shaky cam must have stressed my eyes too much.

Missed the moment
where they showed the monster up close, in the park.

When I was a teenager, we had been drinking and we went to see a movie (forgot which one) ended up sleeping through the entire movie and felt like shit afterwards.

Pretty sure the only time I've fallen asleep was at a Midnight Madness horror flick at TIFF.

Was a travel day, 2nd movie of the night, plenty of drinking, and was hot as fuuuu in the theater.

Once. I took some cough medicine beforehand that I thought was non-drowsy. It wasn't.

The movie (Alice in Wonderland) sucked, too, so that didn't help.

My wife falls asleep 99% of the time, though.

I fell asleep during Guardians of the Galaxy, when I saw it in cinema.

A couple months later I bought the BR and fell asleep, too..
But I actually like movie.

Only once, during Ocean's 11 at the dollar theater. There's some movies though, like that George Clooney movie The American, that I don't know how I didn't fall asleep.

Also went to see the first Captain America movie with a group of like six people, and I was the only one who managed to stay awake for the whole film.

Almost did in that cluster fuck of a movie Avengers:AOU, AoU was the first time i ever got close, went to see it with my friends and his kids, only reason i didn't fall asleep is his son ask me a question right as i was about to doze off.

I got free tickets for Battleship a few years ago from Subway. The tickets were good for a local theater so I went ahead and walked there. Well it was hot as hell, so when I finally sat down in the cold theater I just went to sleep. I was never bugged by it, since it didn't seem like I missed an amazing movie. I still haven't seen Battleship.

Never. Even when the movie is free, I stay awake. If I wanted to sleep I would have stayed at home where I could do it comfortably.

you can just ask for your money back if a film is boring to you? that seems mad to me

wtf, you actually ask for money back from movies?

"this movie sucks, money please?"

does that work?

If you're bored you ask for your money back? I don't think it works that way.

would a theater refund your money for being bored/not enjoying the movie?
Yeah, I've done it before. It's only within maybe the first 20, maybe 30 minutes if you stretch it. Of course, it's up to manager's discretion but in most cases, they'll do it.

Scott Pilgrim. Was dragged by people and had to wait for them to continue on to next place. Watched about half the film and stand by my decision. Those seats were comfier than the couch I ended up sleeping on that night. Was woken up briefly a few times (hard to determine exact number) for the "look, they make a reference to video games" cringe.

I almost fall asleep at some point during every movie I watch no matter where it it.. I Have a really tough time caring enough about it to stay awake no matter how exciting the movie is. It's bizarre..

Never. Going to the cinema isn't just a way to pass the time for me and my mates, when we go its something we really want to see.

I can remember falling asleep twice in theaters.

Once was during Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring. In my defense it was a midnight screening and I hadn't physically prepared myself for a 3 hour film. I fell asleep again later when I went to re-watch it at 11am. It wasn't until the third viewing that I caught the whole thing uninterrupted.

The last time I feel asleep in a theater was during San Andreas. That movie is dookie, and for being about a huge earthquake catastrophe it sure was dull and lifeless.

Several times.

The first time - The original TMNT movie back in the day. I just wasn't into it.
I fell asleep during Tomb Raider 1.

Can't remember the others specifically at this point but there's been many.

Anywho, I was curious which films you recall actually snoozing through while at the movies. What has put you to sleep?

Spiderman 3 has been the only thing so far.
