How often do you guys buy season passes?

Not sure, I only buy games now after they have GOTY editions or every DLC has been released.

This is what I do for games with DLC that truly matters. For example, Mass Effect. When the new ME comes I won't touch it until all the DLC is available, otherwise I'll likely miss important story content that won't make as much sense when I do it retroactively.

Think the only one I bough was Destiny's Season Pass, but that was after both pieces of DLC had already been out and I found the whole package as part of a deal so paid a fraction of the price compared to what was being asked at launch.

Other than that I haven't bought any Season Passes, however if I do find good deals on ones that have already been released and I know what to expect (it being good value) I'd be likely to buy those.

More often than I'd like to admit.

Watch_Dogs- worth it. T-Bone campaign and Conspiracy were both very fun, plus the extra preorder outfits were snazzy.

The Last of Us- worth it. It was one of my most played MP games last gen, so it was nice to get new maps and items. Still haven't played Left Behind.

BioShock Infinite- not worth it. Wasn't a huge fan of Burial at Sea unlike most people, or else I would have thought it was worth it. Something about BaS just fell flat for me.

Shadow of Mordor- not worth it. Celebrimbor campaign sounded so cool, and it ended up being a huge let down.

Destiny- I spent an embarrassing amount of time in PoE, so I guess it was worth it.

So I basically have a 50% success rate with these things. Already bought AC Syndicate because the Jack the Ripper stuff is intriguing, and I'm debating on Dying Light and Battlefront. If Battlefront has Clone Wars era stuff it'll become a must buy since I love the clone designs from the PT. Tempted to get Blops 3's for Der Riese but I don't like the game that much.

Never. I bought one of the Skyrim DLC expansions, never played it, then realized that DLC is something that happens to a game after I'm done caring about it, so I stopped buying it.

I'm disappointed this wasn't in the first page.

My Season Pass history:

- Friend convinced me to buy BF4 season pass long after release, for $60, yet I barely played the game after that....

- Purchased Destiny Digital Guardians edition (which includes season pass), and ended up regretting supporting their lack-luster content releases...

- Purchased Driveclub Season Pass once pretty much all the season content was released and couldn't deny the great value!

I've learned my lesson... wait it out, and only buy Season Pass once the content is proven to be worth it and it is a game you still care about playing!

I got the Mortal Kombat 10 one with the 4 new characters. By the time the last 1 or 2 were released I was so done with that game that it was a waste. Never again Ed Boon!

Bought Dark Souls 2 season pass, just preordered the BloodBorne expansion as well. Got the Battlefield 3 one when it was on sale.

I've only done it for episodic content, after I've played previous games/episodes and trust that I'm going to get similar a quality and quantity of content - in exchange for a (big) discount on buying the episodes separately.

So basically, Telltale games and Life is Strange.

Season passes for tiny expansion packs to big AAA games just seems ridiculous. The quality and size of the DLC varies so much that you WILL get burned regularly.
Pre-ordering a season pass before the first DLC is available is even more insane (IMO).

I always buy GOTY and Complete Editions. So, technically i also buy the season passes, but that doesnt count, right ? :)

Never. I think season passes are the worst way someone can waste their money. You pay in advance for content 6 months away and you usually have no idea what exactly is included, and even if you do you have no idea on the quality of it.
By the time the entire season pass is honored, it has already been in sale several times, or even worse - a complete edition of the game is released at a discount price.

Nowadays, a season pass announcement means that I don't buy the base game until either a complete edition is out, or the game is reduced significantly. Latest example: Fallout 4...I can wait a year, I'm not paying €80-90 for the complete experience.

Never bought one. Don't plan to. I wanted to get the Witcher 3 season pass but even with a company/game I love so much, I don't care enough about 'pre-ordering' a DLC.

Very rarely but when I it has to have a DLC outline in place beforehand. I think Destiny was the last season pass I bought and that was last year.

The only separate season pass I have ever bought was from BioShock Infinite. Discounted at €3,99 was just too good to pass for both Burial at Sea episodes. As for other season passes, only if it was included in a compilation pack (e.g. GOTY, Complete Edition).

Never have and never will.

Wait I take that back. I think I got the Gears of War 3 season pass with 3 of my other friends because we were all riding the hype train for that game....good days....good days.

The one time I bought a pass was for titanfall. Ended up not sticking with the game to see the content through and it became free.

Needless to say I regret it and will stick to waiting for deep discounts.

I forgot I also did destiny which was BC it seemed it was needed to play the game the way it was meant. Don't feel overly happy on that one either seeing as how base game stuff was cut for it and then look at the pricing now if I just waited.

Was given a season pass for Black Ops II from the publisher, and I bought the Juggernog Edition, so that included the season pass.

Just bought my first one by picking up the Fallout 4 gold bundle. Got it for $56 after GCU and $15 rewards cert and Best Buy refunded me $25 dollars for some reason, so picked up both the game + season pass + socks for $31. Basically got the game half price and season pass for free. No complaints as I love Fallout and Bethesda's DLC is usually very cool.

So far, never.

I haven't bought any DLC yet either.

Though I would/will buy dlc like Luigi U.

Lately I've been PC mainly, so GOTY etc works out.

The only one I've ever bought was for Battlefield 4, and I was surprised by how much content I got out of it. Other than that, none of them ever seem like they are worth it.

Only once for Borderlands 2. Never again. Most Season passes save you 5 bucks at most. Total scam.

Forgot about Mario Kart 8. I was happy with that season pass purchase at least.

Only ever bought one, for Driveclub. Every other season pass I've seen comparatively looks like a waste of money.

Never. I very rarely buy content DLC. Sometimes I'll spend a few bucks on cosmetic stuff.

Was buying Blops III and the guy asked if I wanted the season pass, shit was $50! That's more than I paid for the goddamned game!

Battlefield 4 and Mario Kart 8. Sold my WiiU before i could play the second track pack but it wasn't that expensive.
Will most likely buy the Battlefront one too, when the DLC starts to drop.

Only bought 2. Mario Kart 8 and Hyrule Warriors.

1. Because they were transparent about the content. X new racers/tracks in mario kart. More mission maps/characters in hyrule warriors. Bonus for preordering/bundling. You know EXACTLY how much additional content that is. Having played the games, you knew what all of those entailed. Most season passes are vague "New story mission" Is it... 10 minutes? an hour? 4 hours? How does it affect the already existing story?

2. They were incredibly good value - really cheap for the amount of hours/content provided. Hyrule warriors essentially doubled/tripled the gameplay. Mario kart 8 added 50% more content for ~20% the price of the full game.

If it's a game that I am interested in then I invest in it. I bought a ton last gen but so far this gen I have purchased season passes for the following games BF4, Titanfall, Destiny, DC, Witcher 3, Fallout 4 and Bloodborne. I will probably pick up a few more this holiday season if they go on sale.

EDIT: Totally forgot about Bloodborne DLC.

I buy them for any episodic games I'm interested in, as they work out cheaper. For retail games not before all the DLC is released and only if I like it.

I wait until the content is out before I consider it. Again, if all the content is released and I want it I grab the cheaper season pass.

I actually cannot name one time I did buy one, actually.

Unless you awkwardly assume DLC in a re-release counts, then yes.

I bought BioShock Infinite's when it was on sale one Steam winter sale for ÂŁ3.49. I also bought the Last of Us one.

Never. I don't like that shiza. Hardly ever buy DLC. I think the last DLC I bought was avatars and Bass Mode for Mega Man 10. I like Xrd, but I don't care about Leo so w/e

I've bought two, if they even count as season passes:

Mario Kart 8: I thought 11 bucks was a steal for all that content. One of the best deals ever

The Witcher 3: They were pretty forthcoming about what their content was going to be and how in-depth it would be. I don't regret it yet.

In other words, I've only sprung for this when there was a significant discount or when the content that was to come was explained at least somewhat thoroughly.

I never have, but I was really close with Mario Kart 8. But unlike most season passes, for MK8 you had the DLC spelt out for you from the beginning, and it was clearly a great value. I only didn't get it because I don't put my CC on consoles, I didn't have enough money to buy it when I was itching for it (and later subsided as I don't play the game often).

I've only bought one for Driveclub, TLOU, and Bioshock Infinite. All of them were worth it.

EDIT: And Resogun, IIRC.
