How often do you IMAX?

I went to my first one this Summer. The closest one is about 80 miles away but it's only about a mile from my brothers house. I'll probably go back once or twice a year.

Been once, 15 years ago.

IMAX never really took off in Norway. No wonder, twice the price and all. If I remember correctly about 140NOK ($8). Which is the same for a normal ticket today....

I went once in San Diego, but other than that, never. Supposedly there's an IMAX 30-45 minutes from my house, but I hear that it's a LIEMAX. Other than that, the nearest one is 2 hours away.

How can you tell if it's 'LIEMAX'?

Smaller screen is a LieMAX:

I go usually for big releases

Toy Story 3
Alice in Wonderland
Dark Knight Rises

People who see "IMAX" in a regular theater, are just wasting money and are being taken advantage of. NOTHING is like a Jordan's IMAX

Regular theater in Boston costs $12.50 when a Jordan's Furniture IMAX theater 20 minutes away costs $12 and is insanely better.

There are only 3 reasons I go to a cinema.

1.) IMAX
2.) Full service (bottles and meals.)
3.) There are only two reason I go to cinemas anymore.

I'll IMAX any movie available that I want to see in a theater. That's only 4-5 films a year. The rest is covered by an occasional visit to one of those theater types that don't put up with any... annoyances.

About 2 or 3 times a year, basically when any big film coming out has any shots in it where they take advantage of the IMAX screen such as Oblivion, Prometheus or The Dark Knight Rises.

I'll be seeing Gravity at the IMAX for sure, day 1 if work permits.

Jordan's IMAX! I visit the Natick one every once in a while.

Matrix Revolution was my first, and that robot siege was worth it alone. Nolan movies, Pacific Rim, and Riddick hopefully this weekend.

Even Prometheus as a disappointing movie can't take away how great the London BFI IMAX atmosphere is. There's always a guy hyping you before the movie starts about the creative talent behind what you're about to watch. Makes it feel arthouse slightly.

Whenever I can. There's one close to me. The cost doesn't bother me as I'm already getting gouged with prices at the movie theater.

Usually everytime I can when I go to see a film in theatre. I probably only go to theatre 3 or 4 times a year. I think the only film I saw this year in IMAX was Pacific Rim, others were either sold out or not available there.

That's my theater. I live right down the street. I make sure I buy a couch every time I leave.:)

I haven't been to the cinema in years, it's overpriced and filled with idiots that need to put a sock in it. I much prefer waiting until the film is out on Bluray and watching it at home.

that's why you wait for the movie to be out several weeks and go at lunch time.. The place is empty

I've only seen two films in IMAX.

Don't really what the big deal is to justify the extra $7 and 20 minutes of driving.

Also the circle-jerk intros they had were kinda annoying.

Probably once every six weeks. Saw Elysium recently...looking forward to Riddick, Enders Game, Gravity and super pumped for the Metallica movie.

I so wish the Judge Dredd movie had an IMAX release...would have been great in 3d. One of the best movies in recent times yet no IMAX...totally sucks.

Never. No IMAX theaters near me in Utah. :(

I really want to go see a movie in IMAX though, next time I go to California I'll definitely go see a Movie in IMAX.

We're getting a new IMAX here in Hollywood, the famous Chinese Theatre has been closed down for a while in order to put an IMAX screen in there. I think that'll be my main theater from now on for the big flicks. I used to always go to the Rave IMAX all the way near Marina Del Rey for IMAX since the Universal Citywalk theatre is horrible.

I was forced to watch Pacific Rim in IMAX (Liemax) because no theatre in town was showing it except in that one theatre. It was so worth it though.

A similar situation occured for that stupid Mortal Instruments movie, only on IMAX. So not worth it. The special cameras did squat for the movie. It really soured me on IMAX after the high PR gave me.

Did a girl force you to see that movie? I heard it's Twilight fan fiction.

Once or twice a year. The only real IMAX in my area is out of the way.
It's not a hard choice to make when I'm deciding between a 5 minute drive to my theater down the road versus a 25 minute drive to the IMAX.

It has to be a really special film for me to do IMAX.

Only when the movies have been shot in IMAX format. What an event.

pre-order your tickets for Catching Fire

The last time I went was for Transformers 3. Before that I'm sure it was some field trip.

I do plan to go to it for the Metallica movie.

that one in Natick?

I remember seeing one of the Harry Potters there, my neck hurt for awhile afterwards. Great experience if you can get in early and sit at the top though

I almost never go to an IMAX showing, apparently the acquarium and museum of science have real screens but I'm fine with 2D showings at cheap matinees.
