How often do you yell at the tv or throw the controller while playing?

Really depends on the game and on the fact if I play singleplayer or multiplayer, but mostly I simply try harder w/o yelling and throwing. :D

Never. It's my fault if I'm losing. Not the tv's or the controller's. Though when I was younger I was knowing for breaking games if I lost too much. Mortal Kombat for example. I lost to my brother like ten times in a row. After the tenth loss I got up, walked over to the psx, and crushed the disc.

I angrily, but quietly, swear at my TV all the time if I think a game is dicking me over. I've only thrown a controller once since I got out of elementary school, though. I was playing SOCOM 2 online shortly after it came out and was constantly coming up behind people and shooting them multiple times, only to have them turn around and hit me one time for an insta-kill. My brain had apparently had enough, because after what was probably about the tenth instance of this, I saw my hand (operating independently of any reason I might have tried to impart upon it) hurling the controller frisbee-style. It went flying across my living room and into the section of my (wooden) entertainment center that housed my PS2. The impact rendered my R2 button inactive, and I immediately shifted the focus of my anger from the game to myself for letting the terrorists get to me.

It depends on the game for me, but I rarely through the controller. While I was playing SotC, I would call agro "eggroll" if he was just running away or not coming quickly enough.

Mmmm sometimes while playing catan, when somebody ruins my plans :)

And basicly when a game is 'not fair'. Things happen that should not happen. An AI in a racing game which does stupid things...

Only fighting games ever bring me to the point of giving the controller some air time. King of fighters im looking at you!

I yell a lot but i never throw my controllers around. My friend on the other hand has the habit of biting the 2nd analog stick of his controllers. (he has allready bitten tru 3 of his controllers this way :-)

It would be far more frustrating, for me, having to go down to my nearest electronic store to purchase another one, should it break. I occasionally spin it in a frisbee-like fashion on to my bed or another soft surface, but that's about it. Nothing too violent.

As for cursing, sure, sometimes--but not very loud. The occasional, "Urgh, you bitch.", if something just killed me.

PS2 controller violently across many rooms, and dents in a few walls, even at the TV itself. Good ol' fashioned CRT's took anything I threw at them.

God damn those lisences in GT3. Why must I have had a Gold, who knows?

I'll admit that I used to be pretty bad about this. Then I learned my lesson once I realized that I can't put the new controllers back together again over and over again like I used to with my SNES & Genesis ones. :D

Now I'll just hit the couch - or the floor if I'm sitting there. I've been pretty good the last 6 months since my kid was born and haven't really let anything get to me at all. Could be I just don't get to play as much lol. Now what calms me down when I get beat bad in a MP match is telling myself that the other people get to play a lot more than me. SP never really got to me unless it was something really ridiculous that I kept having to do over and over.

Plus Shadowrun doesn't keep stats...:lol (thank you FASA)

2-3 Xbox controllers (Conker L&R online)
1 PS3 contoller (trying to unlock cars in CAC)
1 PSP (Killzone: Liberation)

yeesh...

liar. I've seen you throwing controllers.
:p

Just the other day, playing RR7, I rammed the controller into my couch, hurt my wrist and the controller now rattles but it felt GOOD.

one time I totally dominated one of my friends brother in Fight Night for PS2 so bad that he chucked the controller at the TV, it bounced off and came right back to him. the Controller broke, but I still cant believe how strong that TV was.
CRT TV? You could try all your might to punch through the screen of one of those, or a CRT monitor, but you wont break it, super hard, thick glass. For good reason too.

The most extreme case of yelling at a game? Hmm, I'm thinking Super Magnetic Niu Niu. The level with the horse riding bit near the end had me screaming at that little blue bastard. I just couldn't get it.

That was one hell of a difficult game...

Yeah, I've seen a demonstration where they had a small wrecking ball slamming into a CRT screen over and over again. No damage. Those things are strong.

I threw a controller today for the first time in several years. A forceful, underhanded chuck -- like the motion you'd make if you were skipping rocks across a pond -- sending the controller careening across the floor, crashing into other junk and ultimately the wall.

It made me feel better. Who's laughing now, you stupid video game? I just threw your jerkass controller across the floor!

I threw a PS3 one playing against the final boss of NFS for PS3,cheap bastard AI.

I sometimes smash my controller to the ground and have even stomped on it when I'm REALLY pissed off. It happens less than before because controllers have become so expensive and I try to think twice before I go ahead. I've found that it's only certain types of games that piss me off, mainly racing and fighting games.

I actually ripped my PS2 controller in two playing VF4evo (the last arcade). Some of the AI's just feel like they're cheating, but that's probably just because I suck. I twisted the two handles in oposite directions and it gave a very satisfying CRUNCH... then I realized I had to buy a new one. :( More recently one of the bumpers on my 360 controller broke after smashing it to the ground. It still works, but it doesn't make that "click" anymore. It happened playing segaGT. I had the lead in one of the harder races with zero damage after losing about a dozen times and in the last turn of the last lap, one SOB bumps me in the arse (damage) and takes the lead. RAGE I tell you. I've smashed my controller into the couch and punched a pillow but it doesn't give me that energy relieve.

As a kid I once CHEWED on my Megadrive controlled out of frustration. Can't remember what game it was though.

I suck at games... was giving quite a bit of yelling at Ninja Gaiden Sigma last night... then I decided to start Metal Gear Solid Twin Snakes after it, which was a lot more friendly than NGS, but still a bit of a pain in the ass.

I'm pathetic at NGS, can't kill the first level boss... I beat him easily in the demo though, so I don't understand really. Most likely has to do with the fact you have a lot of weapons in the demo.

I broke my new Dual-Shock while trying to beat the last boss in Star Ocean 2

I all most broke the game disc of MGS2 while trying to beat Vamp the 2nd time on extreme with 25% health and no rations.(Man it was hard)

Very rarely have I done this but I can recall two times recently:

Ninja Gaiden Sigma - the entire f***ing bastard of a game

Gears of War - General RAAM end boss. Bastard.

I also recall doing it frequently when playing Super Magnetic Neo on the Dreamcast.

Ah, I did bring one down once. Super Street Fighter 2; My sister kept beating me using repeatedly the same attack from E. Honda. I tried, and tried and tried..whenever I got close I would take a hit. When we were done playing, I was so pissed, I left the room blinded by rage, tripped on the wire and brought the tv down to the floor.
the glass part was untouched though

I also tend to yell and throw controllers to the sofa..and punching pillows.

I got really pissed as bases loaded 2 for the NES years ago and took it out and stomped on it.

Problem was, it wasn't my game.

It was a very traumatic experience; since them I only let out an occasional frustrated yell. :lol No chucking of controllers, thanks.

While I'm all for considerable difficulty...after a certain point, a game is just not worth the frustration.

I curse a lot. Like every word out my mouth when playing Gears online is a curse word. Bullshit being my favorite. I do toss my controller up sometimes, but I catch it. I really don't feel like paying $57 bucks for a new X360 controller. Although the controller has fell a shit load of times by accident, it always seems to fall off my table onto a wooden floor. Still all in all it's alive and kicking.

My worst moment came while playing pro evo 2007 on ps2. My guy didn't slide so I stood up and screamed "SLLLIIIIIIDEEEEE!!!" grabbed the controller by the cord...swung it like a helicopter over my head while jumping on an old, broken VCR. Then I whipped the VCR with my dual schock until all that was left was a sharp, shattered nub. I then kinda froze in place and realized what I was doing. It was crazy but I was mostly just doing it because my friend was laughing and I was trying to show him how mad I was. PS. Don't worry...I'm not crazy ... haha

Don't throw controllers, but I curse quite a bit. With me and Tetris, it gets pretty personal. I call Tetris's bullshit of feeding me that same piece I don't need, and Tetris responds by giving me the "l" piece, but only after I've already plugged the "i" piece hole (out of necessity for survival). I call bullshit again, and we go round and round again.

I have not thrown a controller in a long time. In the NES days, I would actually take the cartridge out and start chunking it against the wall. It is amazing Ghosts N Goblins survived. I did detach an NES wire once by throwing the controller while holding onto the wire. I also snapped a PS1 cd in my hands. I cannot remember what it was so it must not have been much of a loss.

These days I usually just bang the controller into my soft couch a few times. I did this with Paperboy on Live Arcade, and the Darkness a few times. I died so many times when my ****ing demon arm had a mind of its own and went and attacked the wrong thing.

I don't play games anymore that are difficult enough to make me throw a controller around, but in the past I have damaged one or two of them.

I have NEVER thrown a controller.

I yell and curse at the TV A LOT. I've somewhat been able to temper it in the last 2 years or so at the behest of my wife. I only do it when I die multiple times in a row, during a noticeably jarring difficulty ramp, or when the camera is total shit. I think it's a function of starting to game at so young of an age and developing the habit.

The hall of fame of the most pissed I've EVER been:
1)In MGS3, the final battle in the field of flowers.
2)In God of War 1, the battle with the mini-Kratoses on Normal and Hard.

I get pissed just thinking about them. It's one of the reasons why I still haven't gone back and played through MGS3 again.

Online in Resistance, I curse a bit but I think it's pretty tame and sporadic most of the time.

It's been awhile for me.

Notable moments include:

-Mario Kart SNES 150GP. Cheating bitches.
still the BEST MK game
-Shinobi PS2....final boss. Loved the design, hated the camera and cheap off-screen hits. So much Rage.
-DMC1 DMD run. Too many moments of anger, but mostly centralized on Mundus and Nightmare forms.
-Far Cry PC. Rocket Trigen...not so much Rage, but generally hatred. Damage sponge annoyances that ruinated a genuinely interesting FPS game.
-Ninja Gaiden NES. Level 5 cliffs and those birds.
-Rastan arcade. What???! Game locks you out from continuiing at ALL during the final stage??? At least the music is rad.

Notable recent exception:
-God of War 1 'God' difficulty. Final few battles(Multi Kratos/Ares). Beating the game only to have it crash during final sequence in Throne room(Protip: NEVER push pause in that area!). Fortunately it didn't seem as difficult repeating thjose gruesome fights again immediately.

-Darkness 360. Hey I beat the game on hard difficulty, so why don't I get the achievements??? Oh this stupid game has stupid glitches....

I throw my controllers violently... against my pillow. I aim for the pillow because if I miss, it'll hit my mattress and bounce off onto the floor. It's a calculated freakout.

I threw a controller at my friend after I beat the double clone Ryu fight in the Ninja Gaiden Mission mode using the flying bird flip, because he said it wasn't possible.

man... I should just stop making topics...

I thought you just had to watch the credits all the way through for that one.

Last time I threw a controller was about a year and a half ago while playing Mario Kart 64. I yell all the time esp while playing Forza 2 or Mario Strikers. :D

When I was a kid I used to throw controllers and punch the TV screen. I don't throw controllers anymore, I just curse profusely. Ninja Gaiden really brought out the worst in me. Recently, The Darkness has pissed me off pretty badly.

I don't have much time to play games these days, so when I do play I try to play games that don't fill me with rage constantly. Games that piss me off repeatedly get shelved.

my frustration level goes down with whatever generation of console i'm playing. NES games and arcade games from that era make me curse the most. games for my 360 get fussed at the least and the other generations fall in line like that. one thing that i do like to do though is tell the game characters, "fuck you, that's why you have to live in that box and i live in the real world bitch!!!!" and then i kill the power to the console, thus sticking them back in limbo until I say they can exist. ahhh, makes me feel a lot better, lol. and i've long ago stopped throwing my controllers. these days it's more a controller spin. like i'll toss it in the air and flick my wrist so that it spins like a frisbee and then i catch it or let it fall onto the sofa. man....gamers are weird.

*edit- i forgot about some game on Game Cube that made me break a controller. it might have been one of the extreme-g games or maybe paper mario but something had me seriously heated and i chucked the controller at the wall full speed. as i watched it fly through the air in seemingly slow motion i just screamed, "ffffuuuccckkk!" because i knew it would hit the wall and shatter into oblivion, which it did. it was a crappy controller though. it came with a memory card and game disc holder so i got it on the cheap for 15 bucks or so.

i yell and start punching the couch. saves me the insanely high price of replacing broken controllers.

Lets just say that I've gone through 3 GC controllers thanks to my siblings and...I bought 2 new ones. One of them went bye and now the other one has a loose A button...

I don't get it.

It's been a long time since I've thrown a controller. I've never been much of a controller thrower, at the time I was jobless so even a $20 controller was expensive. I was more of a wall puncher. I had like 3 holes in my bedroom walls and on on the door.
I only remember two of the occasions though, one was when my perfect season in Tecmo Super Bowl went down the crapper. It was the fourth quarter with 6 seconds left and I had the ball at about the 10 yard line. I run the ball and of course my RB fumbles the ball and the CPU recovers and returns the fumble about 95 yards to beat me and end my perfect season.
