How quickly do you reply to texts?

people who generally take 30+ minutes to reply in any text based conversation are scum of the earth.

i respond as soon as possible.

Straight away or a few minutes later*.

People who don't reply do my head in. Was having a text conversation with a friend and I asked if she could do me a favour in my last text. No reply.

I'm pretty pissed off with her tbh.

*Unless timezones make it weird. I get texts from a friend in mexico which is 6hrs time difference so I'll reply when I think she's woken up.

It can take me weeks

Needless to say I don't get too many texts these days. People want to talk to me they'll message me on Facebook or just see me in person

unless you are in the middle of a conversation you are basically barging in unannounced on whatever they are doing. Yes, they might be available to reply, but they might also have their phone off, or be busy, or didn't receive the message due to network issues or whatever.

If you send a text you shouldn't have any expectations of an immediate reply because the world doesn't revolve around you and you don't know the context of the recipient.

If it is urgent, call.

Got a text from a girl I met at a festival a few month back.
We weren't texting in over a month.

So she wrote me at 7 am how I've been.
I answered at 9 am after I woke up that I am good and asked her how she is doing.
Since then no reply.
Now it is almost midnight here.

I'm confused.

I share a phone with a family member and we don't use it too often. I've never had my own cellphone, or really felt the need for one.

However, when I am using it and am texting people, I try to reply as soon as possible.

Whenever. The whole point of texting is its asymmetrical nature. If I want an immediate response, I'll call. Anyone that gets torqued up over a delayed text reply needs to get over their own self-importance.

ASAP cause IMO it's an asshole move to wait hours to reply to a simple text.

Which is why I hate texting and such. I realize that not everyone's like me but it still sends my mind into a twister when someone waits forever to give me a 2 word reply.

Right away, hours later, or days later. Depends on how urgent it seems. If they really need to contact me, they can call.

I usually get texts while I'm driving so I forget about them and respond later.

Hours. I hate texting convos. Quick info/inquiries are fine, but anything else that requires lots of thought... just dial me ffs.

Slow. If you want to talk in any meaningful way just call me. Get the fuck outta here otherwise. I don't need a life story in text with what would be a 5 sec convo

whenever i see the text

im fucking awful with phone calls though because I always manage to not see/hear bc my phone is always on vibrate. and i rarely call back lol

Really dislike it when people think it's ok to just go /ignore for awhile when an attempt to communicate is being made; it's just rude, c'mon.
So yeah I reply pretty much instantly to everything, unless I'm trying to steer the convo in a certain direction....then I be scheming for minutes to make sure the reply fits my needs.

Also my phone is almost always on complete silence unless I'm outside, so I might sometimes just straight up not notice getting a message at home cause it won't even vibrate.

As soon as I can. Seeing a text and not responding is like being in a conversation and then just deciding to not talk until you feel like it.
I reply when I want. If it's important, just fucking call...
If the conversation is the same, why are you willing to respond right away when someone asks it to you one way, but not when they ask you in another?

Immediately if possible. Sometimes it depends on things like context, timing, who the person is, my mood, etc. Generally speaking though, I consider it rude not to respond back asap, but at least within the day. I know people that sometimes take days to respond to a text, like my brother, and it really irks me.

Whenever I motherfuckin want! If it's something important, call me so I can let it go to voicemail and never listen to that message. I got shit to do.

At risk of sounding like a jerk, the truth is that it depends on the person. I've been working on it but if I don't want to deal with whatever the text says I'll put it off until whenever, and if I forget completely and only remember when I go to text that same person later about something else, I'll make up an excuse about losing my phone or something. Childish, I know.

Usually when I see it. But I'd be lying if I said I didn't look at the preview only to lock my screen and forget about the message until the next time I scroll through my Hangouts.

Depends. If it's something that needs a reply fast or is urgent then I'll probably respond within a few minutes. If it's just somebody who wants to talk then I can be pretty slow to respond. I think texting is a pain in the ass and I wish it hadn't caught on as a way to have a conversation.

Depends. If I'm working, I don't reply until I'm on break, so it could be a couple hours. If I'm playing a game with my headset on, I may or may not notice the text.

I must admit I have grown so sick over the years of people who see texts and wait to respond that I too have adopted the practice. I just can't be bothered when they clearly don't give a shit.

This guy I texted took a fucking day to reply back to me when I texted. Granted, when he texted ME, I was busy and he was asking for me to make some plans, so I couldn't reply right away anyway. Here's how it went:

Him: 10/10 @ 10:28am
Me: 10/10 @ 3:20pm (I made the plans FOR TOMORROW and was asking for confirmation)
Him: 10/11 @ 11:38am
Me: Yeah, I made other plans

WTF

I assumed that he was 1) not going to reply back or 2) couldn't do the proposed time, so I made other plans.

I'm awful at texting, sometimes it'll be a legitimate wait cause I'm busy but a lot of the time I see a text and won't respond for anywhere between 1 hour to 3 days or never. I hate having a conversation through text unless it's determining a specific meeting time/place/etc. I prefer people who just call me it's so much easier cause I will almost always answer my phone and I don't have to wait for a reply and can ask and say everything I need to say quickly and concisely. If it's something important they can call me. I'm not even that old but I act like such an old fart.

Depends, the point of a text is so you can answer it when you are able to. My phone os pretty much useless (WiFi doesn't work, terrible signal at home) so I almost never had it next to me at home and keep missing texts.

Asap, it annoys me to no end when I get no response and that happens to me on a regular basis :(. It's especially annoying when they have the text receipt on so I know they read it but I'm still completely ignored.
