How Team Fortress 2 could have looked

I'm glad we got what we got.

I think tongue-in-cheek and serious-bloody-cartoony are the best tone you could have for what Team Fortress 2 has become.
Delicious, delicious phong shading.

It was supposed to look like this:

I can remember my excitement when seeing these sceens for TF2. I'm still waiting for it actually.

I am glad they went with what they actually released.

I know nothing about TF1. Perhaps this would have been more faithful to it. But it looks completely uninteresting.

I have to click the link don't I? Where's that "using imagination since there's no pics" jpg.

Edit: Yep, I like current TF2 style more.

Meh, I'm not really a fan of Natural Selection. Ironically what I like about TF2 is that it isn't that team dependent. Or rather, not everyone needs to be really working together. A single shitty commander can ruin games in NS2 from what I've played.

I'm so glad Valve went the way they ultimately did with TF2 since it's my favorite and most played game of all time. I still find it interesting to see the different versions they went through. I hope someday Valve releases a making of/art book for TF2, but not before they finish doing major updates for the game, since they are still doing great things, like working on a space/moonbase themed update.

TFC was the only truly bland looking version. The Quake mod was pretty crazy looking in its way. I'm glad they took it off the deep end with the Pixar look. Nobody needed CS AND TF going with the generic military look from the same developer.

And Day of Defeat, albeit in a more WWII style.

The cartoony dark comedy route they went was perfect and I'm glad they didn't go this way. Team Fortress 2 has some amazing soul.

I love Valve archeology. All those animations/models show they actually got pretty far along in the process before they abandoned it.

Invasion had some really cool concepts, but I'm glad they decided to go with what we currently have.

I doubt I would have been playing it for 5 or so years if it looked like that.

Theres a reason why TF2 was not released as that game, and in all likelihood it's because that game was not compelling.
