How the first Saint's Row aged? Still a good game?

Hi gaf,

As a 360 late adopter i'm curious about this game. Now after GTA4 and tons of other games, whats the general opinion about Saint's Row? Still a recommended game, or just another game that looked great at their time, but not anymore?

It looks like a GTA3-era game, but in high resolution. None of your GTA4 next-gen realism here.

It's still fun, though. It's totally silly.

It doesn't look as good as GTA4 but it's still a fun game and IMO still has a lot of improvements over GTA4.
Considering the price you can get for the game it's worth getting.
Side missions such as Insurance Fraud and Drug dealing are worth the price of entry.

I bought it a few months ago but really haven't put much time in it yet. I know a lot of people say the actual gameplay is better than GTA, but I felt they were on par with each other with the janky controls. SR definitely comes across as more "videogamey" if that makes sense, and the line between seriousness and over the top hyperbole seems really thin. GTA isn't above cheap dick and fart jokes and it'll make fun of itself when given the opportunity, but the presentation as a whole makes the GTA world more believable. Its nothing tangible, just kinda different.

I still like it - more for the side missions like insurance fraud, assassinations, and screwing around etc. than the main story. Not as good as GTA4 or Crackdown but still fun. If you can get it for cheap I would pick it up.

Since when does good games stop being good?
Since always, plenty of games that were good at the time are unplayable now.

This however is not (yet) the case for Saints Row, it's still entertaining. Though hardly the most amazing free roaming game ever.
