Many years ago, GAF used to let you pick any image hosted on external websites as your avatar. So if you found a site that let you use a lot of data for an image, you could have an animated GIF as your avatar

Many years ago, GAF used to let you pick any image hosted on external websites as your avatar. So if you found a site that let you use a lot of data for an image, you could have an animated GIF as your avatar
