My favorite is the thumbnails designed for toddlers. Just like...an object or person with a BIG RED ARROW pointing at another object, toss in a misleading caption because the user can't be trusted to read the title of the video, and then toss in a big fat emoji or two for the finishing touch.

I prefer text-based guides or a well-made walkthrough (as trash as Polygon is overall, they do tend to have decent guides) if I absolutely need them but in this case I wasn't having luck with anything. In the end it turned out I ran into a bug that caused several craftable items to not appear in my options so I couldn't advance without using console commands.

This is how I customised youtube to my needs

First i installed: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/clickbait-remover-for-youtube/ its a clickbit thumbnail removal extension.

Second important extension is https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/enhancer-for-youtube/ it has many options, but i use it to hide comments (are the worst part of youtube), chat and related videos and also block ads (together with uBlock origin).

Third thing is that I subscribed to only channels I am interested and I bookmarked it, so whenever I click on youtube icon it would bring the subscription page with videos I only care about.

And most important thing is to have self control and not to go down in the rabbit hole and use youtube only when you need it. I treat it as a library, I don't go there just to hang out but when i need something specific.
