How to sell my xbox one ?

I want to sell my xbox one.

Is it true that the next owner will be able to download and play all the games that I bought digitally even if I format the console and remove my profile ?
whats with games that I bought from the US marketplace ? will they show up for him as well ?

Is it better to format the console or to just delete my profile and leave the games installed ?

Ive got the day one edition with kinect and I got the following games digitally:
KI and KI classic, Ryse, Kinect Sports Rivals, Tomb Raider DE, Zoo Tycoon, Peggle 2, Fifa, Wolfenstein, Need for Speed, Max and the curse of brotherhood, BF4 + premium, Halo spartan assault, Dead Rising 3 (disc) + season pass and the super turbo DLC

how much could I sell it for ?

anything else to keep in mind ?

Microsoft is asking themselves the same question.

Your games are bound to your XBL profile. Just do a factory reset, you should be fine. (Settings -> System -> Restore factory defaults)

Always format/return to factory settings if you're giving the console to someone else. I can't imagine that after a format any trace of you will see left on there, including anything to do with your XBL account.

You'll have to leave your profile on there for the games to function.

Format it and sell it as blank

Factory reset. Place on Craigslist. Meet in public place. Be prepared to take huge hit. Just remember it doesn't matter how much you have in it. People can get a new one with a game packed in, warranty, and usually a 50.00 gift card for 399.99. So you will be lucky to get 250 for it. I see people trying to ask 400-500.00 for these and they are constantly re-listed. Maybe you can trade for something and get better value. Good luck

There is a fair bit of moneys worth in your digital titles though OP. What will become of your gamertag and the games? Will you give it to someone else?

If you are selling to someone you know, sell them your tag and games if you are not going back to the console. Otherwise it's just lost games and money for everyone.

If you are comfortable with Craigslist I'd say do that. You don't have to pay Ebay or shipping so you end up making more usually. Put it up for a little higher than you want to actually sell it for because people always try to barter you down on price. Every time.

You can probably get about $300 for it realistically. Remove your profile before selling it and that will wipe your stuff off of it so that you don't have to worry about them having access to your account.

Why does every xbox one thread have to start with some ass hat making a joke that's already been heard over and over again for the last 12 months? And now the entire thread is a ZOMG amazing first post! thread. ugh...

You have to not only remove your profile from the machine, but remove the machine as your "home" machine. If you don't remove the "Home" tag then your games you bought digitally will still be tied to the machine, however this doesn't really matter since you're selling it and I assume you will not be buying a new one anytime soon.

If you DO buy a new machine, you can designate that NEW machine as your "Home" Xbox and those games will become unplayable on the old Xbox you sold.

I'd just wipe your profile and give someone the incentive of all those free games on there, it sweetens the deal immensely, they're of no use to you, and there is zero risk. Your profile will be gone, he won't see any information about you whatsoever. This is the exact scenario I was in when I bought my Xbox One, the thing was loaded with games from the previous guy that all work with every profile I've set up on there.

I get your point, but at the same time I can appreciate a "sick burn" regardless if it's against XB1 or something else. Sometimes you just have to go with the moment. XD

I think some first post wit is allowed to be fair, it's just beyond that it becomes a troll. Take it as what it was, just a joke.

I'd buy a cheap used controller to keep the day 1 controller if you care.

I wouldn't sell the gamertag. Assuming you have it tied to a 360 and come back to the xbone one day.

Are you willing to give up your XBL account to the new owner? If not, factory reset the console. Price it as a standalone console with no games.

Did they not also address every single issue the OP had?

In my opinion, I'd say you're best off resetting to factory defaults unless you just want to straight up sell your gamertag/profile along with it.

That way you won't run into any future problems if you decide to buy another Xbox One and set your profile to that console as your home Xbox. It would pretty much lock the person you sold it to out of those games.

Did it hit some nerves?
I get that it's just a joke, but I feel if it were any other topic and people kept the joking up for a whole year, in practically every single related thread, eventually the mods would start cracking down and try and keep discussion on point. And it's not the one joke that hit a nerve; it's the ongoing barrage of jokes that has yet to cease since before 2013's E3. I have nothing against MS and actually like the xbox one, so call me a shill. I have no reason to dislike the PS4 or Sony either, but the gaf jokes sure encourage a lot of hate. I guess that's what people want.

A fraction of the posters did.

This is the reason i dislike this forum's user rush to be the first to make a funny first post. It's not the post, but the quoting and gifs that derail completely the op question and not help at all. At least hide it by adding some text related to the op question.

that first post hijacked the thread so fast and hard to the point almost no one is answering the OP at all lolol. i love it.

to the OP. no one will play your games if you return it to factory settings

The Microsoft hate really flows on Gaf.

Yeah its really getting out of hand. Every game related or sales news thread for XB1 spins spins and ends up like this.

At OP from setting, deactivate this as your home console and format it.

Well, that first reply did have text related to the OP added.

The first reply was 3 minutes later, the 2nd reply 4, and the third 8. Not really any rushing going on there...
