There's only a few ways to answer the OP and people already did: How to a full format, pricing, home console info, the idea of selling the gamertag, and leaving the games on the system until he buys a new x1 and locks the buyer out.

This wasn't going to be a deep discussion.

There is a problem with derails in other threads tho, which is where mods warn and ban.

Is it true that the next owner will be able to download and play all the games that I bought digitally even if I format the console and remove my profile ?
whats with games that I bought from the US marketplace ? will they show up for him as well ?

Ive got the day one edition with kinect and I got the following games digitally:
KI and KI classic, Ryse, Kinect Sports Rivals, Tomb Raider DE, Zoo Tycoon, Peggle 2, Fifa, Wolfenstein, Need for Speed, Max and the curse of brotherhood, BF4 + premium, Halo spartan assault, Dead Rising 3 (disc) + season pass and the super turbo DLC

You have alot digitally that would greatly increase the value. If you arenot going to return to the Xbox ecosystem, you may want to leave those games on it, but delete your profile.

Always format/return to factory settings if you're giving the console to someone else. I can't imagine that after a format any trace of you will see left on there, including anything to do with your XBL account.

Yeah its really getting out of hand. Every game related or sales news thread for XB1 spins spins and ends up like this.

Queue eventual "persecution complex" macro...Love Gaf but it's been over a year and still the vast majority of XB1 threads get derailed like it is people's mission to do so even though outside of weaker hardware Live and PSN are the same thing

As many mentioned, factory reset will do the trick. Only time I ever had a issue factory resetting a console was with my Wii, it absolutely refused to remove my settings

I don't think you should base your assumptions on a message board post. Most of the glaringly obvious grammar issues seem to come from native english speakers/people who live in English speaking countries. In my experience, most people who (apparently) don't know the difference between "have" and "of", "apart" and "a part", "your/you're" and "there/their/they're" are supposedly native speakers. In contrast, a lot of the non english native European members on Gaf have faultless English.

It's not just Xbox, it happens in every Vita thread and many Wii U threads. When a product isn't selling that well, it's going to happen. There's no need to get upset over jokes like those.

Some people say they can access the digital games even after a factory reset unless the previous owner sets a new home console ?


I dont plan to buy another xbox one in the next 2 years at least. If I factory reset will the buyer still have access to my digital games and thus can I sell it for a higher price ?

You don't have to keep profile, as long as you don't assign any other XB1 as "home console" licenses on old one will still work with any profile. If you just delete profile, but not remove console from "Home console" anyone can play them offline indefinitely.
