How to sell my xbox one ?

Good luck trying to sell it if you choose CL. I listed mine in NYC and still couldn't find a buyer for $420 (sealed kinect titanfall bundle).

Hrm, maybe also log into xbox.com and remove your device from your account, Op. Will help your buyer if he ever needs to contact support, I think.

...unless XBones aren't registered the same way 360s are. In which case, please ignore me.

Offtopic:
I think the beauty of the first reply in this specific case is that it contains about the most helpful and complete answer to the question raised in the Op while still adding a spoonful of polite snark. I can appreciate that.

I mean, unless I missed it, ElTorro is the only one to mention where to find the factory reset. All other replies just assume Op has sufficient knowledge of the system - which, going by the question raised in this very thread, I'm not quite so sure about.

This is bloody hilarious.

Let's recap.

OP asks about selling his Xbox. OP suggests that he wants to sell his box with the games to increase the price but admittedly isn't clear.

ElTorro posts joke that derails thread and says wipe it which is the opposite of what the OP wants to do.

OP actually posts on the second page clarifying and almost everyone ignores his post and keeps discussing ElTorros sick burn.

Fast forward to page 6 and a few posts above people are still saying that the OPs question has been answered by ElTorros post. Some claim if you have a problem with that type of post you must be a console warrior.

OP still hasn't had anyone address his post on the second page. Glorious.

And the fact that this discussion even exists makes it clear this has been derailed.

Microsoft is asking themselves the same question.

Less whining and more answering then? You take this shit to new lows.

Sure here's a very informative post from Gamefaqs. Relevant since OP says

I dont plan to buy another xbox one in the next 2 years at least. If I factory reset will the buyer still have access to my digital games and thus can I sell it for a higher price ?

Your games are tied to your GT and any console that you designate as your home console.

So if you sell your console that you have declared as your "Home Console" any person signing in will be able to play all of the games you have purchased as well as any future games you purchase as long as that console stays your home console.

However, at any time, you can sign in with your GT on another X1 and designate that one as the new home console, and any one playing on the old X1 will lose permission to play the games you have bought until you go back and make that console your home console again. So this means that selling an X1 with digital games is pointless as the buyer has no guarantee that you will keep the console you sold as your home console (or that it even is your home console to begin with), and not switch to another one after a while.

You can also give them your GT and if the console they are playing on is not your home console, they will have to have your GT signed in to play any games you purchased. But I wouldnt advice giving anyone your GT unless you never plan on using it again.

Should have been your first post if you care so much about derailing.

People post jokes here. Then people quote them and laugh. I've been here 14 years. This has always been true.

If you don't care for it, rather that trying foolishly to stop it, look into other boards? Because posts like yours and others only serve to actually derail the post, and to call attention to the over-attachment some have to consoles.

Did you read post 24? I'm sure it answers all OP questions.

Ok I'm done.

How can exploratory derail a thread that was already derailed.

Jokes are funny, etc. whatever but at some point it becomes obnoxious for someone just trying to get some help.

When is the last time a trademark neoGAF witty first post (and a good one too) incited so much anger and hurt feelings? People are really on edge these days.

It derails the thread, as stated multiple times. Look at the discussion at hand right now for God's sake.

In theory the answer was given in the first reply post, so there is no need for *anyone* to reply. But then that would make for a boring thread.

It was just a joke, pretty funny one, not sure why some are getting all upset about it.

Personally one of the reasons I like GAF so much is the humour and the obligatory Gifs that accompany threads.

This is the reason i dislike this forum's user rush to be the first to make a funny first post. It's not the post, but the quoting and gifs that derail completely the op question and not help at all. At least hide it by adding some text related to the op question.
What brought you to NeoGaf friend?

No where else can you have intelligent conversation and quick brain juice thrown about in reckless abandoned.
Enjoy it, pause, move on to the next post, repeat.

By having 12 posts crying about it.

People are going to crack funny here and then laugh about it. Nothing can be done about it, not should it.

Pretty sure mods have in the past spoken against continually quoting a single post with nothing more than a GIF or "Lol!" as clearly it stifles discussion. Might be mistaken, but remember why we no longer have the laughing smilie. Things have been done about it.

Ironically the first post did actually address the OP question while yours doesn't help at all and is just as useless as the gifs in this thread.

I wouldn't say it's just as useless as the gif only response. At least he/she is adding something useful to the discussion while the gifs, while some are funny, don't add anything useful to the discussion.

Yikes, this thread.

Its not a good look. Remind me to keep my questions to PC games if I hope to have an answer in a timely fashion.

I wonder. If we go thru the post histories of those complaining about the jokes and gifs, would we see any posts from them in Sony/Nintendo threads joining in on the mockery?

It's a cold, uncaring machine made by a multibillion dollar company with a love for you that is exactly as deep as the thickness of your credit card. Relax.

Then let them handle it. They've definitely said things about backseat modding and thread whining.

Wow, are people really getting all worked-out over a silly little joke? Anyways, OP i believe the first page has address your question. I'm sure if you but it on ebay, you will get some people to bite.

Microsoft is asking themselves the same question.
Good troll post. First post usually is a witty reply so this fine.

List it on eBay, mention "The Cloud" a lot then after a few months remove Kinect, drop the price, keep mentioning the cloud a lot and then sell all your Xbox One games to a PC user.

Bad troll post. like those virus ads would say, congratulations on being the millionth person this week

What where you expecting to happen, after OP has had his question answered about 10 times within the first page?

Thing is, he hasn't. He didn't ask how he could make sure that the buyer can't use the games. There's only one answer to his question and that is:

Delete your gamertag from the console but keep it as the home console with everything installed. Sell the console (should be about $600 with all those games) and tell the new owner he will keep the games as long as he doesn't go online with the console. Then you can just buy a new X1 down the road, set it as your home console and use your account again. Of course the moment the sold X1 connects to the Live servers they will revoke all licenses on that machine.

Guys, if you have an issue with a thread being derailed, why not pm a moderator and let them decide? Whining about it just makes you look like you are taking things too seriously, and trust me, some of you are.

So much originality in this thread.

No... wait.. just a bunch of lame two-year-old gifs. Never mind.

Here, I'll post a fresh gif for you then!

Sorry, I don't have any meaningful feedback for the OP. But there are just as many posts complaining about the gifs as there are gifs. And there are a lot of posts complaining about posts complaining about gifs. I'm actually surprised that this thread still hasn't been locked.

OP here. I just answered my own question

I factory reseted my xbox one and went to a friend with it. He set it up and logged in with his profile and he had access to all my games and all the DLC that I bought. Even the games with gold games.

So I guess its true after all. I can sell my xbox one with all digital games and the next owner will get everything that I bought. this drastically improves the value of the console.

the games I bought from the US marketplace showed up as well but he had to change his country to US.
